Returning to the secretary’s office, the redness in Han Muzi’s flushed face and ears had yet to completely fade away. The moment she entered, Miss Lin looked over at her. “Where did you go just now?”
Miss Lin’s voice seemed to ring in her ears. Han Muzi glanced at her once, then shifted her gaze away. She calmly replied, “I went to deliver the coffee to the President, Miss Lin. Did you forget?”
“I didn’t forget.” Miss Lin shook her head, then narrowed her eyes. “If you delivered the coffee to the President, then why didn’t I see you in his office when I went in there to submit my report? Where did you go?”
Han Muzi blinked her eyes. “I didn’t go anywhere, Miss Lin. After delivering the coffee to the President, my stomach felt uncomfortable, so I went to the restroom. Did something happen?”
Hearing those words, Miss Lin sized her up for a moment and noticed that her face and ears were flushed red. No matter how you looked at it, something doesn’t seem quite right. But… Her attitude while speaking to Miss Lin was calm—not a heartbeat out of place. Moreover, Miss Lin truly had not seen her in the President’s office just now. Don’t tell me… it was my misunderstanding? Or am I overthinking it? “Nothing much happened. I just thought you were acting a little odd today. Did you not get a good night’s sleep last night? Do you want to take the day off?”
Han Muzi gratefully smiled at her, then shook her head. “Thanks for your consideration, Miss Lin, but I’m fine.”
“Well, then you can continue with your work.” After Han Muzi returned to her work, Miss Lin rubbed her chin thoughtfully, recalling the situation in the President’s office just now. Both of them seemed to be acting strangely today. Besides… she heard that George had specially come to the secretary’s office to look for Han Muzi. What are these young people trying to do?
Due to the episode in the office, Han Muzi couldn’t focus on her work throughout the entire day. She kept remembering how he had suddenly pulled her into his embrace and lowered his head to fiercely search for her lips. They had kissed countless times before, but this was the first time he had instinctively kissed her after losing his memories. She realized that many of his actions toward her were done subconsciously.
He might have forgotten all his memories, but his body still seemed to be familiar with her. However, didn’t Su Jiu mention that constantly being with somebody he knew well would stimulate his memories and possibly restore them? Why hasn’t he shown any special reactions despite their time together recently, including today’s intimate encounter?
The more she thought about it, the more her head hurt. She decided to give Su Jiu a call after getting off work; she wanted to carefully consult with Su Jiu about this matter and see how she should deal with it. Therefore, after work, she tidied up her stuff and prepared to give Su Jiu a call after she got home. Exiting the company, she headed toward the subway station.
Halfway there, a car suddenly stopped right in front of her. The car window rolled down and revealed a handsome face. Ye Moxuan’s cold gaze landed on her.
Seeing him, Han Muzi was puzzled. Why is he here? I’m already quite a distance away from the company; did he notice me as he was coming out?
“President?” she called out to him hesitantly.
In return, he curtly replied, “Get in.” Seeing as she said nothing and hesitated, a displeased expression appeared on his face. “Hurry up; parking is off-limits here.”
Han Muzi circled over to the other side, whereupon she smoothly opened the door and got in. Ye Moxuan’s behavior today… is extremely unusual, she thought as she sat in the car.
“Why are you spacing out? Fasten your seatbelt!” he reminded her just as she was mulling over his odd behavior today. She hurriedly lowered her head and fastened her seatbelt.
Once she had fastened her seatbelt, she watched as he turned the car around and drove straight ahead. She didn’t know what he was thinking about, so she just kept her silence. After all, the incident from this afternoon was still making her feel embarrassed. At the very least, she didn’t know how to meet his gaze right now.
After a while, Han Muzi noticed that the car seemed to be heading toward her house. She was surprised. Could it be that Ye Moxuan was driving her home? But after giving it some thought, she decided that it wasn’t possible. Based on his current temperament, how could he possibly take such a detour just to send me home? It didn’t seem like something he would do.
Her house was not too far away from the company. The further he drove, the more familiar the roads became—she could finally ascertain it. However, she still timidly asked him, “A-Are you sending me home?”
Ye Moxuan said nothing. The light turned red, and the car stopped. Then, he turned his head and glanced at her coolly. “Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Huh?” She was stunned. “If you’re not sending me home, then where are we going?”
He pursed his lips; the expression on his face wasn’t happy. “To pick up the clothes I left behind yesterday.”
She said nothing in return. I see. Realizing that his purpose in sending her home was just to pick up his clothes, she felt a wave of sourness rising in her heart. She sneered, “You sure treasure that coat of yours.”
Seeing her disgruntled expression, he snorted lightly. “Last night, did you do anything perverted to the coat and the clothes I left—”
Listening to what he said, she fiercely and abruptly cut him off while gritting her teeth, “What nonsense are you talking about? I’m not that kind of person!”
“Really?” As the red light changed, he placed his hands back on the steering wheel, withdrew his gaze, and stopped responding to her.
Han Muzi felt that he had taken her to be a pervert. Otherwise, why would he keep emphasizing this matter? Moreover, after he had kissed her in the office today… he said that he was being seduced? She had wanted to make a good impression on him, but who could have expected that… it would be utterly ruined just like this. As such, she wallowed in despair.
Ye Moxuan drove very steadily, and they arrived at the entrance of her house very quickly. He mentioned that he would head upstairs with her after he parked the car.
When they entered, they coincidentally ran into the landlady, who was about to go out for a post-dinner walk. Today, the landlady was even bringing a dog along with her. Watching Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan entering together, she gave a fascinated smile. “Muzi, you brought your boyfriend over again?”
Han Muzi didn’t reply. She found it hard to argue—even if she said he wasn’t her boyfriend, he had indeed come over for two days straight. The landlady wouldn’t believe her even if she denied it. In the end, she simply couldn’t be bothered explaining, so she headed upstairs after greeting the landlady.
As she was searching for her keys to open the door, he piped up all of a sudden from behind her. “You told her that I’m your boyfriend?”
Han Muzi’s hand trembled as she opened the door, and the keys fell noisily to the floor. She panicked and crouched down to pick them up to resume opening the door. Then, she ferociously retorted, “How could that be possible? I’m not the kind of person who likes to make up stories! My landlady just has a wild imagination.”
“Really?” Ye Moxuan casually threw her a glance, then walked inside.
She still had only her pair of indoor slippers in her shoe cabinet. So, he could only enter the house barefooted. The ice-cold feeling on his feet made him frown. It seemed like he should remind her to prepare a pair of male indoor-slippers.
