Han Muzi was filled with fury, but she didn’t dare to simply turn around and leave, so she could only stand there while forcefully repressing the anger in her heart.
“Alright, let’s end this here.” Feeling that the woman’s facial expression and aura around her body were about to explode, Ye Moxuan promptly ended the seemingly endless meeting.
There was supposedly another half an hour before the end of this meeting. “Alright, we’ll discuss the rest tomorrow.”
After ending the video conference, he removed the Bluetooth headset from his ear and looked toward her. His gaze was deep; when his gaze fell on her, she straightened her back. A pair of clear eyes—like autumn water—stared back at him.
“Come here.” He moved his lips lightly.
“Why?” She was brimming with anger, and her anger was tinted with the sourness of knowing that he might be engaged to somebody else. This sourness was fuel for her anger—the stronger the sourness in her heart, the hotter the flames of fury burned.
Before this, she felt like she could take her time. After all, he had just recovered from serious injuries, so she wanted to give him a little more time to familiarize himself with her existence—to stimulate his memory. But, what about now? She heard from George that he was going to get engaged, and she had to win him over before he got engaged. What is this? It made her look like she was supposed to steal him away from another woman! The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt inside; her grievances seemed to overflow from within her eyes.
She didn’t bother to hide her expression as she stared directly at him. Ye Moxuan could see the grievances in her eyes, but he couldn’t understand the reason for them. Why is she feeling so aggrieved?
Since dinner last night, he had only met her again twice. Once in the afternoon, and once more right now. Don’t tell me… He narrowed his eyes and suddenly recalled the time when George had brought her along to join him for lunch. At the time, he had something to take care of outside. Moreover, seeing her and George walking so closely next to each other agitated him. In response, he had flippantly thrown out an ‘I’m not free.’ Don’t tell me… she’s hurt because of that?
At the thought of this, his insight gradually became clearer.
“I asked you to come here. Why are you not coming?” He reminded her after she simply questioned his reasoning and refused to step forward, remaining stationary.
Han Muzi unwillingly took two steps forward. “I’m here now. Please give me your orders.” It was a very impatient tone of voice.
Orders? Ye Moxuan raised his brows, pointing to the coffee on his desk. “Try it.”
Her gaze followed the direction his finger was pointing at; he wanted her to try that cup of coffee. Without even thinking about it, she shook her head in refusal. “I won’t.”
He scowled and gazed at her, displeased. “Are you going to try it or not?”
She stubbornly met his gaze. “No.”
“It seems like you know that you made a terrible cup of coffee. Is that why you refused to face up to it?” He deliberately taunted her.
Normally, she would secretly taste his coffee, but now that she was pregnant, she didn’t dare to drink too much coffee. She only ever took a sip just to taste the flavor. However, her mood was terrible today and she had added a bunch of sugar into his coffee. Even without tasting it, she could tell how the coffee tasted.
She met his gaze and pursed her lips, deliberately going against him. “I don’t want to try it, not because I didn’t make it properly, but because… you drank from that cup of coffee before.” She purposely raised her eyebrows as she looked at him. “Isn’t the President obsessed with cleanliness? You’ve already drunk from that cup, and now you want me to drink it? Don’t tell me you don’t know…” She trailed off her sentence without finishing it and lowered her gaze.
“Know what?” He glared unhappily at the woman standing in front of him. Didn’t she know that stopping part way through her sentence would arouse the curiosity of her listeners?
She stared down at her toes and crabbily continued, “Indirect kiss.”
Ye Moxuan was stunned.
Han Muzi said nothing for a while, then she realized what she had just said. Her head hung so low it could almost touch the ground. She anxiously bit her bottom lip and said, “Miss Lin is looking for me. I’ll be leaving now.”
She had just turned around when his voice traveled over to her. “Did I say you can leave?”
He got up, pushed his chair aside, and walked until he stood right in front of her. Seeing him approach, she couldn’t help blurting out, “Anyway, I won’t drink that cup of coffee no matter what. Gasp—” Halfway through her sentence, her lower jaw was grabbed by his fingers. He held her lower jaw and forced her to lift her head upward. Then, he lowered his head and stopped abruptly only a fraction away from her lips.
Their warm breaths began to intertwine. Han Muzi could feel her heart rate increasing. She looked at Ye Moxuan—he was so close that she thought he was going to kiss her just now. Nevertheless, he did not. He stopped just before their lips touched and his black eyes stared at her. “Are you disgusted by me?”
She was so nervous that she didn’t know where to put her hands. Alas, she held her sleeves, afraid of moving about. The distance between them was so small that if she so much as moved, she would touch his thin lips.
Although they had been intimate with each other to a certain degree in the past, she couldn’t control her reactions as soon as he came near her—her heart rate would increase wildly and she would feel shy. She was almost… instinctively trying to avoid him.
He could feel it—her resistance. Her twinkling eyes looked at him; she was so nervous she was stymied and her pink lips were trembling. He could not shift his gaze away once it fell on her lips.
Did she say… indirect kiss? Based on her expression, she seemed really against it. What if… As soon as the idea flashed across his mind, his body was already moving. He suddenly leaned forward slightly and his thin lips touched her soft lips.
The moment their lips touched, Han Muzi felt like a bunch of fireworks had exploded in her head. She choked out a whimper and took a large step back. Her eyes carried a touch of horror and incredulity.
He was unsatisfied by her reaction. As such, he frowned as he clasped her thin, white wrist and pulled her toward him. One hand holding the back of her head, he lowered his head in search of her lips. On the other hand, she was still feeling outraged inside and evaded him reflexively. However, his strength was greater and he was faster, so after a few attempts, he finally got what he wanted—her lips.
Even his heart trembled at the soft cotton-like touch and the light fragrance lingering on her body. Images seemed to flash through his head, but before he could capture them, they had vanished without a trace. Meanwhile, the woman in his arms was using her hands to push against him, trying to shove him away.
Ye Moxuan locked his brows together in a scowl. His arm simply tightened around her waist, holding her securely while his lips parted with hers. “Why are you pushing me away?” His voice was hoarse beyond belief, while his eyes were as dark as the night sky as he held her gaze intently.
Han Muzi’s waist was tightly locked in his arm; she was unable to push him away. Furious, she yelled, “Y-You scoundrel!”
