Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 799

Sure enough, Ye Moxuan’s gaze was cold as it swept over her before he withdrew it. He coldly replied, “I’m not free.”

Han Muzi was speechless. His cold, indifferent attitude was as if he had not eaten dinner over at her place last night, nor did he help her out in the kitchen. As such, she recalled George telling her about Ye Moxuan’s engagement matters as they were walking here just now. Bitterness rose in waves again and again; she subtly bit down on her lower lip and said, “There’s no need; I’ve already eaten.”

George turned his head back to look at her suspiciously; his gaze seemed to say: ‘When did you eat? Didn’t I try to intercept you at the cafeteria?’

“I thought you called me here due to work-related matters. Since it’s not, I’m going to return to the secretary’s office.” Without waiting for their reaction, she walked in the direction of the secretary’s office.

No matter how much she kept telling herself that she shouldn’t be nitpicky or acting unreasonably, the fact of the matter was that he was amnesiac. He was innocent and he didn’t know anything. But her heart still felt extremely uncomfortable, and the bitterness kept welling up.

After taking two steps, George chased up to her and spoke in a low voice, “Muzi, didn’t we discuss this beforehand? Why are you suddenly—”

“I’m not hungry. The two of you can go ahead without me; I’m going back.”

After she left, he remained frozen to the spot in a daze. He was feeling regretful. If he hadn’t spoken nonsense just now, nothing would have happened now, right? This is all my fault! As he thought about it, he turned back and glared at Ye Moxuan fiercely.

Ye Moxuan, who didn’t know anything, kept silent.

“Forget it! Forget it. Since we’re not having lunch, and you’re not free anyway, then I’m going back too.”

Ye Moxuan naturally did not try to hold George back. Later on, as he passed by the secretary’s office, his eyes subconsciously peeked inside, but he did not see her there. His brows furrowed unintentionally and his steps slowed slightly too. Nonetheless, he left without seeing her.

Han Muzi had not eaten lunch, and she couldn’t fall back asleep. Thus, she could only head to the cafeteria to get something light. As she was coming out, she ran into Rory. “Muzi, are you alright?”

“Huh?” Han Muzi’s expression was slightly confused. “What’s wrong?”

“That George guy came to the cafeteria looking for you just now.”

Han Muzi nodded. “I’m aware.”

“You’re aware?” Rory widened her eyes. “Why does he keep looking for you? Is it because of the President’s matters?”

Han Muzi stared at Rory intently. “Don’t be such a busybody; knowing too many things isn’t necessarily a good thing.”

Rory curled her lips. “Okay. I won’t ask anymore, alright? But you should stay away from George; he… doesn’t have a good reputation.”

“I see. Thanks for the advice.”

Rory could sense that Han Muzi was in a dismal mood today. Furthermore, Han Muzi wasn’t the type of person who was willing to share her troubles with other people. Why is she so introverted? She didn’t want to pry further, so she parted with Han Muzi.

In the afternoon, Miss Lin asked Han Muzi to brew a cup of coffee for Ye Moxuan. While she was making the coffee, she remembered the words George said to her at noon. She was so angry she dumped quite a few pieces of rock sugar into Ye Moxuan’s cup, then handed the cup to Miss Lin.

Miss Lin was busy and said, “I can’t leave my desk; why don’t you send it to the President’s office?”

“Miss Lin, what are you busy with? I can help you with it,” Han Muzi offered.

“No need. You can’t help me with these. Just hurry up and deliver the coffee to the office.”

Han Muzi had no intention to deliver the coffee to Ye Moxuan, and could only make excuses for herself. “Miss Lin, let me do it instead. If I don’t know how, I can learn.”

Miss Lin looked at Han Muzi’s eager and earnest expression. She paused what she was doing to stare at Han Muzi. “Hey. What’s the matter with you today? Isn’t it just delivering a cup of coffee? Why are you making so many excuses to avoid it? Did something happen?” Miss Lin was a shrewd person and could tell with a glance that Han Muzi was trying to make excuses.

Han Muzi didn’t expect Miss Lin to see through her excuses so quickly. The latter was even staring at her and carefully sizing her up. Feeling awkward, Han Muzi bit on her lip and answered, “It’s nothing, Miss Lin. Previously, you always delivered the coffee. I’m just worried the President would be upset if I went instead.”

“Tsk.” As if I’d believe you. With the weird vibe going on between you and the President, as if he would be upset if you delivered the coffee.

“Whatever. If the President gets upset, you can bring the coffee back here. I’m swamped with work right now. If you’re still unwilling to deliver the coffee, just leave it there. I’ll deliver it when I finish my work.” Miss Lin ignored Han Muzi after finishing her sentence and continued immersing herself in her work. No matter what Han Muzi wanted to say, she had no intention of replying. Right now, she looked like a scoundrel; her look seemed to say: ‘If you’re willing to deliver it, then deliver it. Otherwise, it’s not my fault if the President loses his temper.’

Han Muzi felt troubled and frustrated. She hesitated for a while, then reluctantly picked up the coffee and walked toward the office. After she left the secretary’s office, Miss Lin lifted her head again and looked meaningfully in the direction she left.

In front of the President’s office, Han Muzi knocked on the door while holding the coffee. After hearing Ye Moxuan’s order to enter, she carried the coffee inside.

When she entered, Ye Moxuan was having a video conference on the computer. The voices of other people came from the headset, but his gaze was unwittingly drawn toward the movement of the woman coming in through the door. He watched as she carried the coffee until she was standing in front of him. She placed it down on his desk and turned around in preparation to leave.

“Stay right there,” he suddenly called out to her.

She paused mid-step; her brows frowned subconsciously. Why did he call out to me? She turned her head back and gave him a doubtful look.

“Wait right there,” he coldly repeated.

She said nothing. In the following moments, she stood there unmoving as she watched him hold his video conference. If it were the past, she might have paid attention to the contents of his conversation and ruminated over it. However, today her mind and heart were a mess—she didn’t listen to a single word he said during this period.

In the meantime, he picked up the coffee and brought it to his lips then took a sip. As soon as he swallowed that mouthful of coffee, his brows immediately furrowed tightly together. Then, he glanced over at Han Muzi standing by the side. Her mood seemed as bad as it had been during lunchtime. It seemed like… ever since the first time they met today, she had never had a good attitude around him. He put his cup down and his eyes turned dark. When did I offend her? Not only does she not have a good attitude today, now… she won’t even brew the coffee properly?

After standing for a long while, her calves were getting sore. So, she spoke up, “President, if there is nothing else, I’ll be leaving. There are still many issues to deal with at the secretary’s office.”

Ye Moxuan didn’t reply. He continued conversing with the person on the other side of the screen as if he didn’t even hear her talk.

Seeing this, Han Muzi bit her lower lip, feeling slightly angry. He was busy holding a meeting and had no time to talk to her at all, yet he still wanted her to stand there waiting. Did he think that… she had entered on her own volition, so he was doing as he pleased?
