“Ah!” Yan was shocked as she screamed before helping her up. “Muzi, are you alright?”
Her sudden reaction caught everyone in surprise. After she had puked, Han Muzi’s face was pallor and she could not straighten her back while cold sweat broke out on her white forehead. It looked like she was in a horrid situation.
Su Jiu who was standing aside saw the situation and searched for the doctor without giving it a second thought.
“I’m sorry, Muzi. Is it because I was feeding too fast? I’m sorry… I didn’t consider that you just woke up. I should have fed you slower.” Yan helped her up as tears rolled down her face.
Han Muzi’s breathing was weak when she leaned on a pillow while she panted heavily. It was clear from her face that she could not catch a breath. Therefore, Yan gently patted her back. “I’m really sorry. Should I get you a glass of water?”
“Let her rest for a while.” Han Qing frowned while watching the scene. Then, he called someone over to clean up the mess in the ward. Soon after, Su Jiu came over with the doctor. At this point, everyone in the ward was busy.
Han Muzi scanned the people in front of her.
Yan’s eyes turned to a frightening red and her teardrops were the size of beans while her face was filled with guilt and distress. On the other side, Han Qing’s face was slightly pale as stubbles were shooting out on his chin, which made him look way different from his previous image. Meanwhile, Su Jiu worriedly commanded from the sidelines. The doctor came to check on her before saying something to her in a heavy tone.
Han Muzi heard a buzzing sound around her ear. She was tired after she threw up and her body was weakened, so she lay back on the bed before saying softly, “I want to rest alone.”
While everyone remained silent, Yan inhaled through her nose and asked, “Are you sure you’re okay being alone?”
Han Qing looked at her seriously and kept silent for a moment. “Let her rest alone.” After he finished, he walked out of the ward swiftly.
Yan shot Su Jiu an unsure look, and the latter returned her glance before they went out of the ward together and closed the door behind them.
As they stood outside, Yan felt a sudden anxiety. “Why are we doing this? She is not in a good condition. If we leave her alone inside…”
“Don’t worry,” Su Jiu explained sincerely. “Miss Muzi is an adult now. She knows when she has to be rational.
“But you saw what happened yourself. Look at the huge impact on her.”
“It’s precisely because of the huge impact that Miss Muzi must change. She can’t accept Young Master Ye’s departure, so she will do everything she can to convince herself. This… is harder than letting her accept Young Master Ye’s accident. Do you understand? But… at the same time it’s easy.”
There was no other way because it was part of life. Were they not all the same too? For example, one comforted oneself after being deceived by saying that it helped to teach a lesson. This was because self-comfort was much easier for one to accept than the cold, hard truth. It was still cruel at the same time, but that was how people lived their lives—by repeatedly comforting and deceiving themselves.
Yan went silent and leaned against the door while her gloomy eyes gazed at Han Muzi through the glass window. She really hoped that she could pull herself together as soon as possible.
Han Muzi slept for a long time. When she woke up, her eyes were hollow and Yan had prepared another hot porridge for her. This time, she only ate half a bowl and every time she took a bite, Yan seriously observed her reaction.
Han Muzi remained silent until she told her, “I’m fine. What happened this morning was just an accident. It will never happen again.” Even if it did, she would never let the people who cared for her see it happen again.
“Really? I’m afraid that your stomach isn’t well yet. You need to tell me if you feel uncomfortable.”
“Okay.” She finished almost a bowl of porridge just like that. Then, Yan tidied up everything and told her that she would give her more to eat after her body had recovered. Suddenly, Han Muzi said to her that she wanted to see Han Qing, and Yan’s eyes widened.
“Your brother…”
“I only wanted to ask him whether he had found Ye Moxuan near that area. Yan, you don’t need to stop me like this.”
Yan heard that her voice was calm, so she felt assured enough to call Han Qing over. As soon as he came in, he cut to the chase. “We haven’t found him yet, but our forces are increasing and they’re still searching. Muzi, Ye Moxuan has not been seen at all. Do you understand what I mean?”
Han Muzi nodded. She seemed to understand them yet she did not at the same time. Moments later, she let out a bitter laugh. “Qing, I know what you’re saying. In fact, it’s better if we don’t find him. It means that… his chances of survival are bigger, right?” She pointed out his meaning, so he nodded. “I know. Not finding him… is better than salvaging his body and bringing it in front of me. If that’s the case, then there is still hope. I know… Ye Moxuan will definitely be fine. So many people had already survived. If there are a few lucky people among the survivors, I believe him to be one of them. Qing, am I right?”
In the end, Han Muzi lifted her head to look at Han Qing for his approval, but he didn’t know what to say, so he nodded accordingly. A while later, he went up to Han Muzi and stroked her head. “Muzi, I’m happy if you think so. You’re pregnant. Do you know that?” he said to her softly.
Han Muzi twitched her lips as she lowered her eyes toward her belly. “More or less. I had a feeling about it before, but I wasn’t sure. I wanted to wait after the wedding, so that Ye Moxuan… can come with me to confirm it. If I really am pregnant, then… I plan to present it to him as our wedding gift.” At this point, a smile as warm as the spring breeze crossed Han Muzi’s lips. “He will be very happy to find out that I’m pregnant. Qing… do you think he will come back sooner if I let out this news?”
Han Qing went quiet for a second before replying to her, “Yes, he will.”
“Alright. Then I’ll keep on waiting for him here. I’ll hand over the news about my pregnancy to you now, Qing.”
“Don’t you worry.” Han Qing tightened his hands into fists as he looked firmly at his little sister. “If he is still around in this world, I will help you find him back. I will bring him back safe and soundly to your side.” Of course, he did not bring up the other possibility. If Ye Moxuan had left this world, what would he do then?
“Qing, I’ll remember your words. You must keep to your promise.” Ye Moxuan, you must also keep to your promise too—like what you’ve promised me before that you’ll give me a surprise. I believe nothing will happen to you, so I’ll wait for your surprise.
During the next few days, Han Muzi remained in the hospital to recuperate while Han Qing stayed beside her every day since the start. However, he needed to attend to a lot of matters back in China, so he could only find the spare time to go back there. After going back to China, Han Qing realized an even more troublesome situation, and that was Little Bean.
Han Muzi knew that on the day of the wedding, the media would be there too, and she did not want Little Bean to be harassed by those shameless reporters in the future, so she refused to allow him to attend the wedding.
