“Qi, what… do you mean by this?” The smile on Han Xueyou’s face froze in that instant. “I don’t mean anything else by that. Are you doubting me?”
“It’s not like that!” Shen Qi shook her head. “How could I ever doubt you?”
She was only worried that Han Xueyou was getting too close to Ye Moxuan. By then, the latter might do something to her. After all, she felt that Ye Moxuan wasn’t joking when he said those words.
Moreover, the rumors outside weren’t necessarily true.
He might have a disability, but the fact that he was impotent… might not be true.
After all, the thing that she felt with her hands this morning was real.
“Qi, if you don’t doubt me, why would you say those words?” Han Xueyou looked embarrassed as she lowered her gaze and said in a low voice, “Did you misunderstand because of what the lady boss said just now? Didn’t I tell you that she was just joking around? If you don’t believe me, I can bring Li Yueming here next time and prove it to you.”
Shen Qi didn’t say anything. She merely frowned and looked at her because she wanted to explain herself, but she didn’t know where to start.
Thinking that she didn’t believe her, Han Xueyou quickly took out her phone from her bag. “I’ll give Li Yueming a call right now!”
Shen Qi quickly held onto her hand, thereby causing Han Xueyou to raise her head to look at her.
“There is no need for you to give him a call. I believe in you. I just…” What should she say? Did she have to tell her that she was worried that Ye Moxuan would do something to her? However, if she were to say that, she felt like it would be betraying him.

“If you don’t love him, then why do you want me to stay away from him? Moreover, I haven’t gone near him at all. Your actions are no different from the possessiveness that one has after he or she had fallen in love with someone.”
Shen Qi’s eyes widened. Had she fallen in love with Ye Moxuan? That was impossible! He had been nothing but nasty to her. Moreover, she merely stopped Xueyou from getting close to him because she was afraid that he would do something to her, and not for any other reason at all.
“It’s not like that! I just don’t know how to explain it to you!”
“You don’t have to explain yourself.” Han Xueyou turned her head away and didn’t look at her again, obviously in a bad mood. “Qi, I thought we were best friends. Trust is the most basic thing here. I have helped you out on numerous occasions, yet you actually think that I have some other intentions toward Ye Moxuan?”
Shen Qi’s face turned pale and she held Han Xueyou’s hand. “Xueyou, I believe in you, and I didn’t think you have some other intentions toward Ye Moxuan. It’s just that…”
Han Xueyou suddenly sighed as she covered Shen Qi’s hand with her own. Then, she said softly, “Why do you think I invited him out for breakfast? I did it all for you!”
“For… me?”
“Although you guys are going to get a divorce half a year from now, you are still his wife as of now. I hope to build a good rapport with Ye Moxuan since you are staying in the Ye residence. That way, you can lead a better life there. Qi, do you understand my good intentions now?”
Shen Qi was speechless.
“I hope that you can live your life peacefully for the next six months in the Ye residence. We are best friends, don’t you understand my good intentions?
“Xueyou… I’m sorry.” Shen Qi didn’t expect Han Xueyou to be thinking about her. At most, she thought that Han Xueyou invited Ye Moxuan and Ye Linhan out of politeness. Ye Moxuan turned his head slightly, thereupon his gaze fell directly upon her face, and his thin lips curled upward. “It’s useless.”
Shen Qi’s face turned pale in response.
“Your friend is obviously trying to seduce me. Don’t you believe me?”
Shen Qi ignored him. However, she didn’t expect him to be that enthusiastic, considering his tall and massive frame leaned toward her slightly. Then, his thin lips appeared next to her ears as he whispered something to her; his hot breath was cascading down her neck, thereby making her feel ticklish.
Shen Qi’s petite body trembled as she tried to avoid him out of reflex. However, Ye Moxuan grabbed her wrist. “If you don’t believe me, we can make a bet.”
Make a bet? Shen Qi blinked gently, then bit her lip and said, “That scenario you have in mind would not happen in a million years. Hence, there is no need for me to make a bet with you! Don’t be silly!”
“Hah!” Ye Moxuan didn’t really bother about her reaction. “If you lose, you have to abort that illegitimate child of yours.”
Shen Qi widened her eyes in disbelief, and she clenched her hands, which were under the table, tightly. Then, through her gritted teeth, she said, “No way!”
“What’s the matter? Are you scared?” There was a hint of mockery and disdain in his voice. Thereafter, Shen Qi straightened her back and said, “I won’t agree to such a boring bet.”
“It’s not up to you to decide. After all, you can only choose between that illegitimate child of yours and your friend. Who do you think you would choose?”

Shen Qi was furious; Han Xueyou had always had her best interest at heart, yet Ye Moxuan actually wanted her to choose between her child and her friend.

Shen Qi gritted her teeth and tightened her grip silently, whereupon her fingernails dug deeply into her flesh.
“What are you guys talking about?” Ye Linhan, who was seated opposite them, noticed that they were sitting close to each other and talking. Hence, he couldn’t help but smile as he said in a teasing manner, “Moxuan, you have a good relationship with your wife, indeed.”
When she heard this, she subconsciously tried to get away from Ye Moxuan. Who would want to have a good relationship with him?
However, Ye Moxuan grabbed her arm and smiled wickedly at Ye Linhan’s gentle gaze. “That’s right! It’s all because of you that I was able to marry such a good wife.”
