It was supposed to be a joyous occasion. Who could have thought that such a tragedy would occur? Listening to Han Muzi’s words, the driver felt his nose itch and he surreptitiously reached out to wipe the tears from the corner of his eyes.
Do happiness and misfortune come hand in hand? Life was fickle; if one did not cherish it in the past, then they would regret it deeply once they lost it.
“Please help me, Qing…” She repeated these words to Han Qing over and over again. Her weak and helpless voice sounded like the wailing of a small beast as it was dying.
Her pleas—like sharp blades slicing into his heart and agitating him—made his entire being miserable beyond belief. In the end, as if he couldn’t bear it any longer, he caught her wrists and said in a low voice, “Muzi, I understand… Please, calm down.”
“Then… does that mean you’ll help me with the calculations?”
He nodded. “Although the possibility is low… we’ll do our best. I’ll get somebody to handle this matter right now.”
“Okay!” She nodded vigorously, her beautiful eyes overflowing with rays of hope. Watching her like that pricked his guilty conscience.
In actuality, he’d rather not perform the calculations. After all, the calculated location might not be accurate and even if the calculated location was on point, it would only make her struggle harder. Unfortunately, she was his sister. As her brother, he couldn’t just watch her in pain and do nothing about it, could he?
After Han Qing had sent somebody to check the location, she seemed to calm down slightly—probably because she finally had an end goal. All she could do now was wait.
He glanced at her and found that she was curled up in the corner. Her small body as well as her pale face and lips made her look very frail—as if she would shatter from a slight touch. After watching for a while, he sighed in frustration, then took off his coat and covered her with it.
Sensing the movement, she lifted her head and looked at him blankly. “Did you receive any news?”
Not much time had passed since just now, but her expression seemed like she had waited for a century. It hurt him seeing her like that. He reached out his hand and tidied up her slightly messy hair while gently explaining, “How could it be that fast? I’ve just sent somebody over to handle this matter. Even the calculations would take a bit of time as there are all sorts of information to retrieve. So… in the meantime, I’ll bring you somewhere to treat your wounds, okay?”
She didn’t say a word, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with his request. Since they still had a long wait ahead of them, once he saw that she was not against it, he simply told the driver directly, “Find the nearest medical center. We’ll bring her there to treat her wounds.”
“Understood, President Han.”
He brought her to the nearest medical shop, bought the medicine, and treated her wounds. He then said, “Next time, if you ever meet the press again, you must stay away from them. They may not all be bad guys, but… accidents happen easily when there’s a large crowd. Do you understand?”
She didn’t respond to him, but asked, “Are the calculations done?”
He was speechless… He knew that she did not even bother with what he just said. This girl… It was a headache whenever her temper acted up.
“Not yet… Not much time has passed. When the calculations are done, they will contact us. Did you eat anything in the morning? Why don’t—”
“Qing,” Han Muzi called out suddenly. He stopped everything he was doing and looked at her. “What’s wrong?”
Her clear gaze watched him; her beautiful eyes filled with rays of hope were devoid of all other emotions. Looking at him, she murmured, “I don’t want to do anything right now. I just want to go to the airport and wait. I want to… search for him immediately.”
“Alright, I’ll send you to the airport now to wait.”
Therefore, he had the driver take them back to the airport. When they arrived at the airport, his phone started ringing. It was from Su Jiu. He glanced at the screen and answered, “Hello.”
“President Han, I found out everything. I’ve taken care of everything at the scene and dispersed everybody. Also… is Miss Muzi there beside you?”
Hearing that, he lowered his eyes and glanced at the spiritless Muzi, who was curled up in the corner, and nodded. “Yes.”
“The authorities have released the information. The plane accident occurred above XX. They found a survivor. According to the survivor, when the plane started having troubles, many of them were equipped with parachutes. However…” She paused momentarily. “Considering most of them were unfamiliar with the equipment… and the vast ocean was beneath them at the time… even with the parachutes, the chances of survival… are slim to none.”
Han Qing was quiet for a moment. “Send me the exact location, then book two flight tickets there. Muzi and I will head there immediately.”
Upon hearing that, Su Jiu was taken aback for a while before she could react. “That place is too remote, President Han. It might not be appropriate for you to go with Han Muzi. Let me find some people to accompany you.”
“Okay.” He nodded.
When Han Muzi heard his conversation, she leaned over toward him, waited for him to finish his call, and looked at him expectantly. “Did you receive any news?”
He nodded. “I’ve asked Su Jiu to book the flight tickets. We’ll be able to rush over soon.” He pursed his lips in silence after he finished his sentence. Even now, Su Jiu’s words still lingered in his mind. If the survival rate was so low… was it good or bad for him to bring Muzi there?
But there was no chance for him to worry about other matters. If she wanted to go, he had already promised her that he would bring her there. If anything should happen, they could only deal with it as it came.
Su Jiu was very efficient and the tickets were quickly prepared for them. Han Muzi, Han Qing, and Su Jiu, along with several other people that Su Jiu had found to accompany them, boarded the same plane and flew off to the accident site.
Usually, by this time, Han Muzi would have fallen asleep. However, today she had no intention of falling asleep. Even though her eyelids were already fighting to stay open, she still insisted on staying alert. Her eyes were very dry, and a whole day without food had made her stomach very uncomfortable.
A cup of warm water was handed to her at this moment. She lifted her head, glanced at Han Qing, and softly thanked him. Then, she accepted the cup of warm water and took a small sip before she asked, “The place we’re heading toward, is it the right place?”
“It’s accurate. It’s information released by the authorities.”
Han Muzi’s hand shook slightly when she heard his words. After a short pause, she asked in a small voice, “Then… did the authorities say anything else?”
To prevent her from worrying too much, he replied, “There was a survivor. According to the survivor, most of the passengers on the plane were equipped with parachutes. So, you don’t have to worry too much.” As for the fact that they were faced with a vast ocean beneath them, Han Qing naturally kept that to himself.
