She deliberately lowered her voice to prevent Han Xueyou, who was in front, from hearing her.
Ye Moxuan’s thin lips curved upward before it parted slightly. “Are you scared already?”
Shen Qi then glanced at Han Xueyou, who was walking in front of her.
Today, she was wearing a red-colored dress that accentuated her curves. She has always had a nice, hourglass figure. Could it be that Ye Moxuan had taken a fancy to her?
When she thought about this, she clenched her fists tightly. Then, she bit her lips and said, “You obviously know that she’s my friend. Why did you agree to eat breakfast with us? What are your intentions?”
“Well, Miss Second-marriage, I believe that you haven’t figured out the situation yet!” Ye Moxuan sneered, and there was a hint of ridicule in his voice. “Your friend invited me; if you are talking about bad intentions, your friend here is the one with it, not me.”
Shen Qi was speechless at that.
There was some logic in his words, and Shen Qi couldn’t refute it.
No way! Xueyou is not that kind of person!
“Stop uttering such nonsense. Xueyou merely saw you coming out and asked you to join for breakfast out of politeness. We never expect that you’d agree to it.” No matter what, Shen Qi was determined to believe that Han Xueyou did not have ulterior motives.
Putting aside his physical disability, Ye Moxuan was indeed an outstanding man. However, they were legally married after all; Xueyou would definitely not have such thoughts about him.
She had absolute trust in her friend!
“Pfft! How innocent.” Upon realizing that Shen Qi was quite a stubborn person, Ye Moxuan didn’t wish to continue this argument with her.
Although Shen Qi was angered, she had no choice but to push him into the elevator. Then, she unwillingly pressed the close button.
Just as the elevator was about to close, a hand reached in to stop the elevator door from closing.
Shen Qi then lifted her head and noticed an unexpected familiar figure.
Ye Linhan had a polite smile on his face as his warm gaze swept over the three of them. “I can’t believe I bumped into you guys so early in the morning. This is such a coincidence!”
“Mr. Ye?” Han Xueyou noticed Ye Linhan, thereupon she quickly turned to the side. “Please come in.”
“Thank you!”
Ye Linhan smiled at her before he strode in with his long legs. Then, he stood beside Ye Moxuan. “Shen Qi, Moxuan, why are the both of you up so early?”
“We are going to get some breakfast. Mr. Ye, would you like to join us?” Just as Shen Qi was about to explain herself, Han Xueyou cut in and invited her friend’s brother-in-law.
“Breakfast together? Sounds like a wonderful idea.” Ye Linhan smiled as he nodded in a gentlemanlike manner. “Since you’re inviting me, Miss Han, I shall oblige to your request.”
Shen Qi was sweating, though she heaved a sigh of relief at the same time.
If Ye Linhan went as well, then Ye Moxuan… would definitely not do anything, right?
“Shen Qi, you don’t look too good. You have to take care of your health,” Ye Linhan said as he suddenly turned to look at Shen Qi.
The expression on Shen Qi’s face changed slightly. She could only nod blankly when faced with Ye Linhan’s gentle gaze. Thereafter, she lowered her gaze.
She felt that Ye Moxuan’s elder brother was growing too concerned about her. Even though he meant no harm, it made her feel slightly uncomfortable.
It was all because Ye Moxuan would misunderstand her.
“Moxuan, how are your legs recently? Did your old injuries flare up?” After Ye Linhan reminded Shen Qi about her health, he started asking about Ye Moxuan’s injuries.
Ye Moxuan pressed his lips together, exuding a cold aura. “No.”
As such, Shen Qi couldn’t help thinking to herself, Compared to Ye Linhan’s gentleness, Ye Moxuan is especially cold.
On the other hand, Han Xueyou, who was standing by the sidelines, had other thoughts. She felt that Ye Linhan was a gentle person, and that anybody would be happy if they got into a relationship with him because he would meticulously take care of everything for his girlfriend.
However, she couldn’t help but peek at Ye Moxuan again.
She always felt that Ye Moxuan was the kind of man who could arouse a woman’s desire, even though he had a cold aura around him and a ‘do not approach me’ vibe. It was precisely because of this that Han Xueyou felt that way.
A man like him would treat you coldly when he’s not in love with you. However, the moment he falls for you, he would be a passionate lover that would surpass even Ye Linhan’s tenderness.
When she thought about this, Han Xueyou’s gaze looked even more determined.
Just like that, the four of them were lost in their own thoughts. Not long after that, they got out of the elevator, and after exiting the Ye residence, Han Xueyou went to get the car. Initially, she had wanted Ye Moxuan to sit in her car, but she neglected the fact that he was in a wheelchair.
It was difficult for Ye Moxuan’s wheelchair to get into her car. Luckily, Xiao Su came at the right moment. Hence, Ye Moxuan returned to his own vehicle by asking Shen Qi to push him there.
After both of them left, Han Xueyou looked at Ye Moxuan’s retreating figure with a slight sense of disappointment.
“Miss Han, if you don’t mind, I can drive you?”
Han Xueyou regained her senses and looked at Ye Linhan, who had a gentle smile on his face. Then, the corners of her mouth curved upward, and she shook her head. “No thanks. I have my own car. I think we should drive our own car so that it would be easier for us to go back to work later.”
Ye Linhan thought about this and nodded. “Makes sense.”
Meanwhile, when Shen Qi pushed Ye Moxuan into the car, she found herself a seat and sat down. Following that, she watched Han Xueyou and Ye Linhan drive their cars away, thereupon she couldn’t help but steal a few more glances at them.
“Did you want to sit in Ye Linhan’s car?” Ye Moxuan suddenly asked coldly.
When she heard this, Shen Qi regained her senses and gave him a bewildered look.
Ye Moxuan lifted his gaze and looked at her with a sarcastic smile.
“Did I guess wrongly? You were flirting with him with your eyes, weren’t you?”
Flirting with my eyes? When did I do that to Ye Linhan? Shen Qi was furious. “How could you simply frame a person?!”
“Hah! You’re cunning enough to have made my elder brother ask about your wellbeing.”
Speechless, Shen Qi gritted her teeth and clenched her hands by the sides until her knuckles turned pale.
“It was just one sentence. Do you need to accuse someone just to feel happy?” Shen Qi stubbornly bit down on her lower lip and looked at Ye Moxuan’s cold eyes boldly.
Ye Moxuan’s wicked gaze fell upon her face. Just as he was about to say something, Shen Qi released her balled up fists suddenly and turned her head away. “Say whatever you like, and make assumptions as you please.”
She didn’t feel the need to explain herself anymore because Ye Moxuan’s opinion of her would never change anyway. Forget about it!
With that thought in mind, she watched the scenery beyond the car window while her heart was overwhelmed with disappointment.
Her marriage to the Ye Family has already been a sad story to begin with, and when she recalled how her own mother treated her that day, her depressed aura filled the entire car.
Her dejected mood was quite evident, and Ye Moxuan noticed it quickly. His slender fingers paused for a moment as he looked at Shen Qi, who was staring out the window with a complicated expression on her face. Did she get upset after he merely told her off with a few words? Could it be that he had misunderstood her?
However, why did he have to be so concerned about her?
If she hadn’t done anything or dropped any hints, would Ye Linhan act that way?
And now, she was even pretending to look depressed. Who was she putting on an act for?
A woman who would snatch her sister’s position away to marry into the Ye Family couldn’t be any better of a person.
