The waiter did not say anything else and stepped out quietly with the menu in his hands.
It was silent in the cubicle once again. But the silence felt different, or perhaps her feelings had changed. While she was shy and nervous before, what he said had made her feel embarrassed and humiliated.
I just really like him, so I want to try harder. But… why won’t he even give me the chance to?
Han Qing had also felt the change in her presence. Both of them stayed in silence until the dishes arrived and were placed on their table one after the other.
When the waiter put the bottle of white wine on the table, Han Qing frowned and looked straight at Yan. “You’re drinking wine?”
She froze for a second before nodding her head, “Mm-hmm…”
He remembered her drunk appearance at the banquet last time and the crease between his eyebrows deepened, “You’re not allowed to.” His tone sounded commanding.
If it were not for what he had said earlier, she would have assumed he was looking out for her. However, now, it sounded slightly ridiculous to her. She retorted, “President Han, who are you to tell me that? Why does it matter to you whether I drink or not?”
Han Qing was speechless. This girl…
He took one look at her then pursed his lips. “Who’s going to take you home when you get drunk?”
Yan did not respond.
She glared at him for a while before she looked down in defeat, a bitter smile on her face. “Don’t worry. I’ll call a friend to come get me. You may leave once you’re done eating.”
I was just overthinking. He doesn’t want me to drink because he just doesn’t want to be bothered with sending me home later when I get drunk. What was I expecting? Suddenly, she felt like she had thrown her dignity away for inviting him to dinner that day.
The cubicle returned to its silent state. Yan poured herself a large glass of wine then drank almost half of it before even having her first bite.
He paused as he watched her reckless behavior and thought of stopping her. But when he remembered what she had said earlier, he realized that she was right. He was no one to her, so he did not have the right to decide whether she drank or not.
He remained silent but did not move his chopsticks either.
Across the table, Yan had not paid attention to him and proceeded to lift her chopsticks to eat after she downed the half-glass of wine. A while later, she realized he had just been sitting there and staring at her with his black eyes.
She was dumbfounded. Then, she quickly grabbed a piece of tissue paper to wipe the corners of her mouth and with a big smile on her face, she said, “President Han. Hurry up and eat your food. You can’t get full just by watching me eat. Come now.”
Yan forced a cheerful expression and encouraged him to eat before continuing herself.
She did not know how much she had drunk throughout the dinner, but she felt sick as her head got dizzier and her stomach felt bloated.
When she looked up, her vision was no longer clear. She only saw the blurry figure of a person and tried to focus her eyes, then said, “I-I’m going to wash my face.” After that, she stood up and stumbled on her way out.
He watched her stumble. Unable to resist any longer, he reached out and grabbed her wrist.
“If you can’t drink, then don’t drink. Why do you always have to be so troublesome? Do you feel like you’re achieving something by making me clean up after you?”
The overbearing voice of a man resonated from above her. Yan was not completely drunk, so she knew who that voice belonged to. In an instant, she swung off his hand. “You don’t have to care.”
“Do you think I want to care?” He grabbed her wrist again. “If I hadn’t come in here with you, I wouldn’t even be bothered.”
She shouted back at him angrily, “Then don’t bother with me! I already told you. I’ll call my friend to come and get me if I’m drunk. Why are you still here? Just leave.”
She pushed him away, and he moved a few steps forward unexpectedly.
Han Qing was getting irritated. He walked right up to her and said coldly, “What friend? Get out now. I’m taking you home.”
“No!” She glared at him. “Don’t stay with me. I’m drunk. If you keep lingering around me, I can’t guarantee that I won’t do anything to you.” Then, she glanced at his lips and licked her own nervously.
He was speechless. He felt his head ache as he looked at the pigheaded young woman in front of him, who only stood up to the level of his chest, and was at a loss for what to do with her.
“That’s enough. I’ll send you home first, then you can decide if you want to be crazy after that.”
He decided that he would just carry her out if she still refused. But as he was about to bend down and pick her up, she stepped closer to him, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him.
When their lips locked, Han Qing froze. He was not expecting to get ambushed with a kiss like that.
Yan kissed him roughly, then said in a fury, “I told you if you come close to me, I will violate you. Are you still not leaving?”
He touched his lips and looked at her with a look of indifference. “Now that you’re done kissing me, can we leave?”
She blinked her eyes. “Of course not. I haven’t done anything to you yet!”
She mustered her courage and went in for another kiss. Frowning, he turned to avoid her and her lips landed on his throat instead.
It was said that the most sensitive part of a man’s body was his neck. She wanted to test that saying out for herself that day. After all, she had already thrown all her dignity away in front of him, so she had nothing more to lose.
When she nibbled at his neck, she heard a muffled sigh—as expected. The hand that was holding onto her arm also quivered slightly.
Did it work? Yan was ecstatic and went on to graze over his neck with her tongue. His whole body trembled before he pushed her away.
She looked up to see that his ears had turned red. Without another thought, she jumped up at him—arms around his neck and legs wrapped around his waist.
“No matter what you say, I still like you. I remember everything you told me last time, but so what? I also said that since I never actually confessed to you, your rejection doesn’t count—not one bit.”
She looked like a determined lunatic. After that, she started kissing all over his face. He was able to avoid her when she had only kissed his mouth, but now, her bizarre behavior had left him defenseless.
Right at that moment, the waiter arrived with something at the door. His face turned red when he saw both of them and he quickly backed out again.
It took Han Qing a lot of strength to finally pull her off of him and place her on the couch. He then said coldly, “Shouldn’t you have some dignity as a woman? Kissing and hugging a guy like this—is this your style?”
Yan remained silent.
“Did you think you could seduce me if you provoked me like this a few more times?”
“No!” Her eyes turned red. Then, she stood up and yelled, “I’ve never thought about it that way! I’m not that brazen, either. All I wanted to do was meet you; that was the only thought I had.”
