“It’s okay, Mommy.” Little Bean had used a great deal of effort to open the fridge door. He tiptoed to take the food out from within, then turned around to look at her and said, “Mommy, get some rest. Just give me fifteen minutes.”
“Fifteen minutes?” Han Muzi frowned and still walked in nonetheless. “What can you make in fifteen minutes?”
“Noodles, Mommy.”
Noodles… Han Muzi stayed silent for a moment and said, “Let Mommy help you.”
Little Bean thought about it and nodded. “Okay.”
Next, the mother and son duo worked together and cooked a pot of noodles. Even though it was supposedly a team effort, Han Muzi did not contribute much because she realized Little Bean possessed some skills. He did indeed pick up some skills from Yan.
He was skillful; apart from the fact that he was still slightly short and needed to stand on a stool, there were no other problems. After that, they scooped out two bowls of noodles and sat down at the dining table.
Han Muzi looked at the fragrant noodles and felt comforted right away. From him being a baby up until this point, he was suddenly able to cook a meal for his mother on his own. This was a wonderful feeling—a feeling that was hard to describe.
Little Bean took the lead in using the chopsticks to take a bite. He was too hasty and burned his lips as he brought the food to his mouth. He was surprised and quickly put the noodles back into his bowl.
“Be careful. Slow down.” Han Muzi could not help but look at him. She then took out a napkin to wipe off some soup droplets that were on the corner of his mouth. “It’s just the two of us; no one is snatching that from you.”
This made Little Bean blink embarrassingly. “Mommy, I did not do it on purpose; I just wanted to taste what I cooked.”
Han Muzi knew he did not do it on purpose as she had high expectations toward Little Bean since he was little. Moreover, it could be hereditary that Little Bean had always eaten slowly and with grace. He never needed much teaching when it came to table manners. He was born with a good character and nurtured by proper guidance.
“Mommy knows. Even if you cooked it yourself, there is no need to rush. Take it easy.”
“Uh-huh.”
Han Muzi had her first bite of the noodles and realized… that it was not bad at all. It could even be compared with Yan’s cooking. She looked at Little Bean with surprise. “You…”
“Mommy, is it good?”
Han Muzi nodded. She was slightly in awe that this was prepared by her son. “What special ingredients did you add into it?”
“Didn’t Mommy see everything earlier?”
That was true as Han Muzi had been with him in the kitchen the whole time. Little Bean did not add any special ingredients. It was simply because the cooking heat and taste were all right on point. At this point, Han Muzi flashed a comforting smile. “Our Little Bean has grown up.”
After the two had finished eating the noodles, Han Muzi did the dishes while Little Bean was told to go upstairs to take a shower. He willingly agreed.
After Han Muzi had finished cleaning, she went upstairs to prepare to take shower, but she realized she had not seen Yan so far. She was wondering how she was doing. I think she went to look for Han Qing after work. But why is she not back yet?
Initially, Han Muzi did not intend to bother her, but after some thought, she felt she should at least send her a text message to ask about her situation. Not long after the text message was sent, Yan responded. ‘Muzi, let me tell you: right now, it’s all or nothing. Please don’t bring me down.’
All or nothing? Reading this confused Han Muzi slightly. When she recalled that day when Yan said she wanted to drug Han Qing, she frowned uncontrollably. ‘You are not thinking of drugging my brother, are you?’
‘What are you talking about? Even if I wanted to, I would not be bold enough to do that. I am only here for a free meal. Ugh… that was embarrassing.’
Upon reading this, Han Muzi could almost imagine the crying face of Yan, and that made her chuckle. ‘No worries, people are meant to embarrass themselves.’
‘That’s an odd way to console someone!’
‘All the best!’ After cheering her on, Han Muzi stopped texting Yan. Instead, she stared blankly at Ye Moxuan’s picture on her phone. She wanted to give Ye Moxuan a call, but she was too embarrassed to do so. After all, she asked him to give her some space, yet now she was the one looking for him.
While pondering, Han Muzi could not resist any longer. She put the phone down, picked it up, and eventually she decided to give Ye Moxuan a call.
She did not know which country he was currently in, or where he had flown to for business. Is there a time difference?
The call went through, and that made Han Muzi slightly nervous.
When the call was answered, Han Muzi was so frightened that her hand was shaking, and as a result, her phone almost slipped out of her hand. The moment the unfamiliar voice of a lady came through from the other end of the phone, Han Muzi immediately steadied her hand.
“Hi there.”
It’s a she? Is this the wrong number? Han Muzi froze for a few seconds before she took her phone away and looked at the words on the screen. This is indeed Ye Moxuan’s number… But why is it a lady answering the phone?
Han Muzi bit her lower lip and began to feel worried. “Hi, I am looking for…”
“You are looking for Moxuan, right? He is busy right now.”
Moxuan? That lady was gentle, soft, and mellow. She sounded like the type who was especially beautiful and gentle.
Her lips moved, and before she could respond, another sentence came from the other side. “When he’s out from the shower, I will ask him to return your call.”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless. She then responded with her face slightly frozen, “That won’t be necessary.” She hurriedly hung up the phone.
Her legs started to feel weak, so she leaned against the door behind her while her face turned pale.
All these years, she had been keeping an eye on him and she knew that apart from Xiao Su, he had no other assistants around him. Not to mention any female secretary. Furthermore, that lady called him Moxuan—gently and affectionately—so she was definitely not a secretary.
If she’s not a secretary, then… a woman who has such an intimate relationship with him, who else could she be? The answer… seemed self-explanatory.
Han Muzi clenched her fists tightly. Her fingertips had started to turn pale. A few moments later, she released her fists as if she was out of energy, and she smiled bitterly. “Oh Muzi, what are you… thinking? It has been five years. Do you still believe that he will preserve himself for you?”
At this point, Han Muzi became self-deprecating. She left the phone on the table and turned around to walk into the bathroom.
…
In the hotel of a foreign country, a gorgeous, mixed lady was sitting on the couch, legs crossed. When she heard the busy tone from the other end of the call, she smiled calmly, brought down the phone, and deleted the call record with her fair fingers. A woman who calls him at this time and then hurriedly hangs up the phone—she must be a woman who has a special interest in Ye Moxuan.
Ye Moxuan was someone whom she had her eyes on, so she was going to eradicate every woman who wanted to develop a relationship with him.
“What are you doing?” A stone-cold male voice came from behind. Before Duanmu Xue could react, the phone had already been grabbed by a tall, gorgeous man.
