“So, have you already forgotten everything that Mommy has taught you before?”
No matter how one saw it, Han Muzi was indeed slightly disappointed, even though Little Bean had already had his head down, and looked miserable—making it extremely difficult for one to reprimand him.
But Han Muzi knew deep within that if she did not teach him a lesson this time, she would not be able to establish any authority. Therefore, her speaking tone did not get softer just because he had put his head down; in fact, it became even harsher.
“What if something like this happens again next time and the person is a bad guy? You are just a five-year-old kid; if you are kidnapped by a bad guy, will you be able to fight back? If something bad happens, what should Mommy do?”
She had way better imagination and at the end of it, Han Muzi could even picture how Little Bean would look like if he got hurt. The thought of that made her tear up a little bit, and her voice was cracking.
The moment Little Bean, who had his head down, heard the sobbing in Han Muzi’s voice, he finally realized the severity of this matter. He lifted his head and saw that his mother’s eyes were completely red.
He immediately felt bad and his beady eyes betrayed a glimmer of panic. He quickly went up and grabbed Han Muzi’s hand. “Mommy, I know I’m wrong. Please don’t be mad at me anymore, okay?”
Seeing how nervous his face was made Han Muzi even more worried. This time around, she was truly upset.
While she was guarding him against Ye Moxuan, she also had to guard him against Ye Linhan.
But Little Bean just went out with Ye Linhan on his own accord. It wasn’t like she had never warned him beforehand, so she could not understand why he did not listen to her this time.
“Don’t grab my hand.” Han Muzi broke away from his grasp and ignored him.
After Little Bean’s hands were shaken off, he immediately pouted, feeling very aggrieved. At this point, the elevator sounded and the door opened. Han Muzi walked straight into it.
Little Bean could only try to quickly catch up to her. “Mommy, please don’t be mad anymore. I know I am wrong.”
Han Muzi bent over to put in the code, ignoring him directly. She pushed the door open, and even though she was already really upset, she still moved sideways to allow Little Bean to edge in. Little Bean could roughly understand what she was thinking, so he quickly edged in when she moved sideways.
Bam! After the security door was closed Han Muzi changed her shoes at the entrance. She later went into the living room and sat on the couch, without saying a word.
Seeing this, Little Bean knew that his actions had backfired. His mom rarely got mad at him, much less said any harsh words. However, she had been upset for such a long time today. It must be something really serious.
Little Bean felt extremely bad as he was mad at himself for jumping the gun. He marched in toward Han Muzi with his tiny legs and made a sudden turn halfway through, and instead walked in the direction of the kitchen.
Two minutes later, Little Bean came out with a glass of fruit juice in his hand. He brought the fruit juice to Han Muzi right away. “Mommy, have some fruit juice to calm down.”
Han Muzi sat there indifferently hugging her pillow. Not only did she not move an inch after hearing him speak, but she also did not throw him even a mere glance.
“Mommy, Mommy… please look at me. This is the fruit juice that I just prepared for you. Even if you don’t want to look at me, please take a look at the juice.” Little Bean was thick-skinned and did not feel dejected just because Han Muzi ignored him. Instead, he became even more pigheaded about sticking around in front of her. He leaned on her leg and constantly poked her with his soft little fingers.
Half of Han Muzi’s anger had already dissipated, but if she gave in after such a short while, wouldn’t this kid feel that she was only joking around and repeat his mistake in the future? No matter what, she was a mother, and as a mother, she was only trying to protect her child from anything that would hurt him.
At this point, Han Muzi let out a soft sigh and looked at Little Bean, who was leaning on her leg; she could not help but pinch his cheeks with her hand.
“Do you know how mad Mommy is?”
Little Bean immediately put up both his hands as a gesture of surrender and nodded vigorously. “Mommy, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have gone with Mr. Ye just because of greediness. I promise you there won’t be the next time.”
He had that guilty look on him and Han Muzi could not bring herself to rebuke him again; she could only sigh.
“Mommy is concerned about your safety. What if it was a bad guy who came to pick you up?”
Little Bean earnestly looked at her and said, “Mommy, please relax. Even though I may not know how to discern between good and bad guys, I will never go with someone that you don’t know personally. Mommy, please stop being mad, okay?” While saying that, he was shaking Han Muzi’s arm. “Mommy, Mommy, stop being mad at me, okay?”
Han Muzi did not say anything, but it was apparent that she was no longer upset.
Little Bean quickly made up to her by handing her the fruit juice that he poured earlier. “Mommy, have some fruit juice.”
After sitting there for so long, Han Muzi finally reached out and accepted the juice.
“No more next time.”
“I promise there will not be a next time.”
Seeing that Han Muzi had drunk the fruit juice, Little Bean was finally at peace. Han Muzi’s willingness to talk with him and drink the fruit juice he poured indicated that she had forgiven him.
Just like that, the mother and son spent some time together on the couch, and suddenly, Little Bean had an idea. “Mommy, to make up for my mistake, I will cook dinner tonight.”
These words had slightly surprised Han Muzi. She looked at him. “You want to cook?” Would it be edible? Of course, she did not utter that last sentence, for she had never eaten any meals prepared by Little Bean.
“Of course, Mommy. I have been learning from Aunt Yan. I don’t know how it will taste yet, but would you like to try, Mommy?”
Han Muzi gave it a thought and eventually nodded. “Let’s… try then.”
“No problem, Mommy.” Little Bean quickly jumped down from the couch. “Mommy, please wait here and watch TV. I will go and make dinner for you.”
“Uh-huh.” Han Muzi nodded, thinking that perhaps Little Bean could not cook anything nice. At any rate… she could always bring Little Bean out for a meal later.
Ye Moxuan had told her that it had been quite safe lately and there was no need to worry about anything. That probably meant she did not have to worry about anything anymore, even if that meant going out at night. As she considered this, Han Muzi thought about another serious matter.
Little Bean is so short; he’d have to stand on a stool to cook. What if he falls? Han Muzi quickly became fidgety, and it did not take more than three seconds before she stood up and walked toward the kitchen.
“Little Bean, how about… you let Mommy do it?”
