Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 586

Her voice faded away until it was no longer heard. It was because Ye Moxuan had carried Han Muzi away and placed her in the passenger seat of his car.

Because she was barefooted, Han Muzi didn’t know where she could rest her legs after she sat on the seat. She could only bend her legs and rest her chin on her knees.

Ye Moxuan drove the car without any expression while Han Muzi sat curled up on the car seat. Both looked rather displeased with each other. As they approached their neighborhood, Han Muzi suddenly thought of something, which caused her face to turn pale.

“You didn’t allow me to take my shoes, so how am I supposed to walk now? Are you going to carry me upstairs?”

When he heard that, Ye Moxuan let out a small chuckle, which confirmed her suspicion. Then, he whispered, “Isn’t that a great idea?”

What a jerk! Han Muzi silently scolded him in her heart as she gritted her teeth. She reminded herself not to allow him to act so obnoxious.

As soon as the car stopped in the parking lot, Han Muzi opened the door on the first instance and rushed out. Even though she was barefoot, she ran out at lightning speed. She wasn’t a short girl. In fact, she had long legs, which allowed her to run at full speed.

Adding on to the fact that there was no sign of her about to do anything impulsive, he hadn’t counted on her to open the car door and dash off. He unlocked the car door at the speed of light and chased after her.

She ran at such speed that it attracted the attention of those around her. Never once in her life did she feel so embarrassed.

By the time she reached the elevator doors, she panted and was completely out of breath. Several people who waited for the elevator shot weird glances at her. The kind of look that they gave made her feel like she was a weirdo. She bit her lower lip and wanted to explain her situation, but realized that it was unnecessary. They were, after all, a group of strangers anyway.

“Hey, it’s you.” A male’s voice suddenly emerged from the crowd. It was only when Han Muzi turned to look at the person that she realized it was Mr. Potbelly, whom she had met in the elevator the other day.

Mr. Potbelly looked at her before he glanced behind her. He then asked, “Why isn’t your husband with you today? And why are you running around without any shoes?”

Now that someone finally asked her, Han Muzi let out a sigh of relief and briefly explained, “My high heel broke, which is why I’m barefoot.” She blatantly ignored the first question.

“I see. So, that’s the case,” Mr. Potbelly said with a smile. “Be careful when you walk then. Watch out and be careful to avoid stepping on glass.”

Han Muzi smiled embarrassedly and said, “Doubt that would happen. This place’s cleanliness is well-maintained.”

While she talked, Mr. Potbelly looked behind her and exclaimed, “Your husband is here.”

His voice was a little loud, and that made everyone waiting for the elevator turn in her direction. The people cooed when they saw a tall, handsome man approaching the elevator from a distance.

Mr. Potbelly continued, “As a man myself, I have to say that I envy him. Your husband is really handsome and you are, of course, beautiful too.”

The corners of Han Muzi’s lips twitched. She was unable to say a word. Was Ye Moxuan able to catch up with her because the elevator didn’t arrive? The more she thought about it, the more dissatisfied she felt. Han Muzi bit her lower lip and turned around in the direction of the stairs.

“Are you trying to act out the staircase incident again?” Ye Moxuan’s icy voice pierced through the silence, completely stopping Han Muzi in her tracks.

With a cold expression on his face, Ye Moxuan walked over and clasped Han Muzi’s delicate, fair wrist to prevent her from running off again.

“Let me go.” Han Muzi lowered her voice while trying to shake his hand away. As he had somewhat expected her to react in that manner, he grabbed and locked her wrist tightly like an iron chain with his hand to prevent her from shaking his hand away.

Mr. Potbelly enjoyed watching the interaction between Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan. Because he was rather mindless about the situation, he asked another question, “Hey, why are you and your husband fighting with each other?”

Han Muzi was speechless. All that she wanted was to get away from Ye Moxuan. Much to her dismay, Ye Moxuan stepped forward to grab her waist and whispered in her ear, “If you continue to be stubborn, believe it or not, I will hug you in front of everyone.”

When she heard this, Han Muzi’s intention to resist him faded away. Is he kidding me? There are so many people waiting for the elevator. I would seriously be embarrassed if Ye Moxuan were to carry me.

In order not to be at the center of attention in public, she only stared at Ye Moxuan unhappily before she lowered her eyes, saying nothing.

“The elevator is here. Step on my feet and we’ll walk in together.”

Han Muzi reluctantly stepped on his feet, but at the same time, did so with pressure. Her action didn’t bother him much since she was barefoot. With an arm wrapped around her waist, he led her into the elevator.

The people in the elevator surprisingly made way for them. As they entered, Mr. Potbelly looked at Han Muzi and smiled. “Your husband is really nice to you, young lady. Cherish it. Couples tend to quarrel every now and then. It’s a trivial matter.”

Han Muzi was unable to utter any words. Can you keep quiet, sir? No one will say anything if you don’t speak. She smiled awkwardly.

Ye Moxuan was still affected by the earlier event as his expression was icy cold. Even those who rode in the elevator with him felt the chills.

The passengers left the elevator one by one. By the time it reached the eighteenth floor, only the two of them were left inside.

Ye Moxuan walked out with her and asked her to enter the passcode for her main door.

However, Han Muzi did not move for a long time. Ye Moxuan, who waited for her to unlock the door, frowned. “Not going in?” he asked.

“How can I enter the code when you are here?” Han Muzi retorted.

Ye Moxuan was taken aback a little, but his surprise was replaced by a self-deprecating smile on his lips. “Does this mean that I don’t even deserve to know the password to your house? Or do you think that I would memorize your password after seeing you entering it? Are you afraid I’d take advantage of you once I have knowledge of it?”

Han Muzi kept silent.

“If I wanted to take advantage of you, I would have done it by now.”

“That’s not what I meant,” Han Muzi explained. She did not want Ye Moxuan to know the password to her house because it did not belong to her alone.

“Then, enter it.”

“I…” After she pondered for a moment, Han Muzi pleaded with him, “Can you please close your eyes or turn around?”

However, Ye Moxuan did not make any move to do so, but instead just stared at her coldly. Han Muzi returned the stare without any intention to unlock the door.

Ye Moxuan sighed in defeat. “Fine,” he said, as he helplessly closed his eyes.

When Han Muzi saw that he closed his eyes, she felt somewhat guilty but she had no other choice. In order to hide Little Bean from him, she had to be vigilant at all costs.

Han Muzi quickly entered the code and unlocked the door.

Once the door opened, Ye Moxuan told her, “Alright. Go in.”

Han Muzi was surprised. Didn’t he want to come in with me?

“Stay in the house and don’t go out. I still have things to do, so I can’t accompany you.”

Han Muzi raised her eyes and looked at him. “Go ahead and attend to your errands. I’m not a child who needs your company.”
