Yan obviously agreed to what Han Muzi said.
She had been working by Han Muzi’s side for the past few years. She saw firsthand how well Han Qing treated Han Muzi, and it even made her jealous, but she didn’t want to be Han Qing’s younger sister. I didn’t even really like Han Qing in the beginning. But later on…
Yan snapped back to reality when she thought of that.
“You are right. It’s possible that he does not understand what relationships and feelings are. Or it’s not that he doesn’t understand it; maybe he doesn’t have feelings to begin with.” Yan rested her chin on both her palms. “Maybe he was born with no feelings. I think it’s impossible for me to succeed in pursuing him,” she remarked in distress.
“You shouldn’t feel dejected so early on. To be honest, I think this is a good thing for you.” Han Muzi held onto Yan’s hands while chuckling softly. “There are no women around him, so all the opportunities are yours, aren’t they?”
“Mine?” Yan looked at her in bewilderment. “How would I even stand a chance?” she asked, looking puzzled.
Upon seeing Yan’s lost expression, Han Muzi couldn’t help but poke at her chin. She reminded Yan in a quiet voice, “There is always the advantage of securing the person you want by being closer to him. Why would you question if you stand a chance?”
Yan realized with a start after processing her thoughts, and she broke into a bright grin again.
“That’s right. I’m with Little Bean every day now. I’m so close to him; it is undeniable that I have the advantage of being closer to Han Qing… Muzi, you are the best! Thank you for reminding me! Alright, I’ve decided that even if Han Qing is an emotionless person, I’ll get him anyway!”
Yan suddenly narrowed her eyes, as if she had thought of a grand plan. She clung onto Han Muzi while asking her, “Do you think I should do it after drugging him, or should I just take him by force?”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words at Yan’s question, and her lips twitched involuntarily. However, she couldn’t even form a sentence.
“Uh, I might not be able to subdue him if I try to take him by force. I suppose I should drug him first!” Yan answered her own question, whereas Han Muzi let her continue with her monolog. After all, she knew very well that Yan was all talk but no action.
However, she might really lose her patience one day and drug Han Qing. Who knows what could happen?
“By the way…” Yan suddenly looked stern. “How are you handling your relationship problems?”
Han Muzi didn’t want to talk about it, and so she brushed it off casually.
“There’s nothing to handle. Same old, same old.”
Yan didn’t persist since she could tell Han Muzi was avoiding the question.
The morning passed quickly. At noon, just when the two of them were about to stop working and head to the canteen for a meal, the phone rang.
Han Muzi checked the display number and thought it looked rather familiar.
“Hello?”
“Miss Han, it’s me, Xiao Su.”
Xiao Su? Han Muzi kept quiet for a while. Why is he calling me?
“Young Master Ye sent me to deliver your meal. I am downstairs right now. Can you please come down to get your delivery?”
The office was quiet, and so Yan heard their conversation clearly, and her eyes bulged in shock. “Why aren’t you delivering the food up here since you’re here to send the meal? Why must she head down to collect it?”
“Your company receptionist wouldn’t let me enter.” Xiao Su was standing at the entrance while looking at the receptionist helplessly.
Han Muzi recalled that she had instructed the receptionist and security not to allow any strangers in because too much had happened within the past few days, and she was worried that the company might get dragged into it.
Once she recalled her standing instructions, Han Muzi answered him, “I understand. I’m going down now.”
“Hang on. Let me collect it on your behalf,” Yan offered straight away. Han Muzi nodded in response. “Alright.”
After hanging up on the call, Han Muzi spaced out while staring unseeingly at her phone.
Did he actually ask his assistant, Xiao Su, to deliver my meal? Xiao Su must be infuriated.
“My, oh my. He has a completely different repertoire of pursuing his former wife. I’ll collect your lunch downstairs for you. Just wait for me here.”
When Yan arrived at the first floor, she saw Xiao Su standing at the entrance from afar, holding a bag. In all honesty, she held no animosity toward Xiao Su in the past.
However, ever since he said those things to me, and he even questioned why Muzi came back, my view toward him changed drastically.
Hence, Yan was rather impatient and rude toward Xiao Su. She demanded coldly once she got close enough, “Hand it over.”
Xiao Su looked at Yan and scrunched up his nose when he heard her voice. “Why are you here?”
“What’s wrong? You don’t want to see me, is it?” Yan smirked. “Are you afraid I’d scold you again?”
Xiao Su scowled deeply at her. “That’s not what I meant.”
“In that case, hand me the things. You can leave straight away once I receive the delivery.”
Xiao Su was at a loss for words.
Facing Yan, who was rather impolite to him, he suddenly realized instinctively that his previous speech must have offended her. She must see me as an enemy now.
He didn’t hand her the bag immediately; instead, he asked her softly, “You still remember what I told you in the parking lot?”
“Parking lot?” Yan folded her arms in front of her chest while staring at him icily. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Well, those things I said about why you both came back.” She is denying it, and it’s most probably because she’s extremely furious about it. Looking at the young woman, whom he had not seen for the past five years but had yet to improve her temper, Xiao Su stated helplessly, “It was wrong of me to say those things, and I apologize to you. It has been so many years, and Young Master Ye is still in love with Miss Muzi. Besides… I’ve always subconsciously regarded her as the Second Young Lady all along. It’s understandable for you to take her side since you’re her best friend; similarly, it’s only natural for me to take Young Master Ye’s side since I’m his assistant. I admit I hold a little grudge against the Second Young Lady, but—”
“Stop it!” Yan shot an arm out to stop him from continuing speaking. She inhaled deeply before explaining, “I don’t care whose side you are on. Even if it’s true that I’m on Muzi’s side, I didn’t ask you that question, did I? You don’t have to explain to me because I don’t care at all. They are the only ones who know how they feel about each other. I am just an outsider, and I do not wish to be involved. Hand me the things, and you may leave afterward.”
Xiao Su had no choice because Yan had already clamped up. Hence, he handed her the meal bag, and Yan turned around straight away to leave without another backward glance.
Xiao Su recalled the scene of her being drunk five years ago while he stared at her determined back view. At that time, she came throwing herself at me once I opened the door. She hugged me and rubbed herself against me, and she even planted a kiss on my Adam’s apple. I can vividly recall the feeling of her in my arms when I carried her back to her bedroom.
From then on, Xiao Su’s dreams had been plagued with that girl’s shadow.
Five years ago, when Second Young Lady disappeared, Young Master Ye went insane in search of her.
However, Young Master Ye wasn’t the only one losing his mind at the time. I have never forgotten the girl named Yan. However…
I am just an assistant, a subordinate…
I have to prioritize Young Master Ye no matter what the circumstances are. That is why I’ve put my feelings aside.
I didn’t expect to meet her again, but now, it seems like we have become enemies.
