Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 522

Yan stood behind Han Muzi from the very beginning, and after both parties were seated, she had her eyes glued on Lin Qingqing. She was on high alert.

Yan stared at Lin Qingqing, as though afraid that she might stand up suddenly, brandish something from her pocket, and splash it at Han Muzi. Ye Moxuan was around the last time, but he isn’t here today. Who would shield Muzi if something similar were to happen again? That is why I have to protect Muzi.

Yan’s gaze must have appeared extremely focused because Lin Qingqing shot her a strange look. Then, she complained, “What’s up with your gaze? I told you I wouldn’t attack her. Don’t you trust that I wouldn’t attack her since I’ve sworn a divine oath that I’d suffer a horrible death otherwise?”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless by her outburst.

Yan snapped at Lin Qingqing, “Pfft! Who would believe you even if you swore an oath? Besides, I don’t trust that you’ve turned over a new leaf after what you did previously. Muzi is most probably the only person magnanimous enough to forgive you.”

Yan was blunt with her words, and the color drained from Lin Qingqing’s face. Han Muzi did not stop Yan as well; instead, she observed the situation calmly.

Lin Qingqing was furious, but she suppressed her anger. She snorted in disdain, “You have the right to say whatever you want and I can’t stop you. I can only use my actions to prove otherwise!” With that, she stood up and faced Han Muzi.

Yan panicked immediately. “What are you doing? You—” However, she didn’t complete her sentence because she was staring wide-eyed in shock at Lin Qingqing.

Lin Qingqing, who was standing upright just a moment ago, bowed deeply and suddenly at Han Muzi. Her back and head were bent low and forward while looking especially sincere. Her abrupt movements shocked Mrs. Lin as well, and she stared at her in astonishment since this hadn’t been discussed beforehand.

“I’m sorry. I want to apologize for my horrible behavior. I promise you that I will not repeat my mistakes. Since I’ve caused such distress to you, I’m willing to promise you one condition. I will fulfill anything you’d like me to do!”

Yan was astounded as well because she wasn’t expecting such behavior from Lin Qingqing.

Mrs. Lin looked pleased. “Miss Han, Qingqing is sincere about changing this time. Well, just look… After her release, she washed up and dragged me along to purchase these, claiming that she wanted to apologize to you. In the past, she was headstrong, but she is serious about changing that now.”

Han Muzi glanced at them calmly, as if she wasn’t moved or surprised by Lin Qingqing’s actions.

At that moment, Han Muzi’s composure made Mrs. Lin realize the reason her daughter lost to this woman.

The two of them are in completely different leagues. My daughter might be pretty, but Han Muzi’s beauty is on par with Lin Qingqing. Furthermore… Muzi has a unique temperament. A person’s temperament and elegance are often associated with their cultivation and maturity. It’s evident that Lin Qingqing doesn’t have what Han Muzi has, but the latter also lacks the youthful vigor of Qingqing. However, if Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan knew each other from before, he must have met a version of Han Muzi that possessed youthful vigor in the past. Right now… he would only fall deeper in love with Han Muzi and her maturity.

Everything became clear to Mrs. Lin when she concluded that.

“You wouldn’t even have the chance to stand in front of me if I hadn’t forgiven you. There’s no need to buy me things. As for the condition you mentioned, I just hope that… you won’t disturb me anymore.”

Lin Qingqing asked incredulously, “That’s it?”

“Huh?”

“Aren’t you… going to make life difficult for me? After all, I tried ruining your face previously.”

Han Muzi smiled faintly. “Firstly, you injured Mr. Ye, and not me. Secondly, since I’ve forgiven you, it would be indecent of me to make life difficult for you.”

The more magnanimous Han Muzi was, the more Lin Qingqing felt petty and insignificant in comparison.

“Alright, I lose to you willingly. I agree with your condition as well. However… if you’re not with him for a very long time, I-I will work hard to compete through proper methods.”

Han Muzi was stunned to silence, and she looked up at Lin Qingqing. Does she want to compete with me for Ye Moxuan?

Han Muzi lowered her eyes and pursed her lips. “That’s up to you.”

“These gifts…”

“Those are unnecessary; it’s fine as long as you’re sincere.” Han Muzi stood up before speaking steadily, “Yan, see Mrs. Lin and Miss Lin out, please.”

Mrs. Lin had bought a pile of things, but she didn’t expect Han Muzi to reject them. Hence, she panicked and blurted, “We brought these here as an apology to you. Since you’ve accepted our apology, Miss Han, why don’t you accept our gifts? It will be tricky for us to bring these back because we picked these out specifically for you.”

“Mrs. Lin, that’s very kind of you, but these things are unnecessary to me. Besides… you should be thanking Aunty Song this time.”

Mrs. Lin was astounded when she heard that. She couldn’t help but realize how generous and bright Han Muzi was. She must have guessed that this incident has caused some friction between Song An and myself. She mentioned it on purpose to help relieve the tension between the two of us. This Muzi has put so much care and thought into this.

“I know, and I have to thank her for how things turned out this time. I will personally thank her, but you have to accept our gifts.” Mrs. Lin then placed the gifts on the table before tugging at Lin Qingqing’s hand. “Thank you so much, Miss Han. Qingqing and I shall not bother you further; we are leaving now.”

With that, she left the office with her daughter.

However, Lin Qingqing turned around to glance at Han Muzi and raised her voice. “I picked those things out. It’s my way of apologizing to you sincerely, and so you’d be looking down on me if you refuse to accept them—”

“Hey you, shoosh…”

The two of them then left the office.

Han Muzi glanced at Yan, and she was still standing rooted to the spot with a dazed expression. Yan snapped back to reality when Han Muzi squinted at her pointedly.

“Ah, I’ll send them off right now.

Han Muzi returned to her desk when she was finally alone. I’m rather exhausted, I think I should rest for a while.

Hence, Han Muzi kept her documents and entered the lounge.

The day passed by swiftly due to a busy schedule. When it was time, Han Muzi and Yan picked Little Bean up from school and headed back home. Han Muzi was drained by the end of the day. She then slumped against the couch after taking off her high heels.

However, her phone started vibrating the moment she lay down. She checked her phone and realized that it was a message from Ye Moxuan on WeChat. ‘When are you coming over?’

Han Muzi was at a loss for words. Why does it feel as if he schedules these messages?

She was too lazy to reply to him, and so she put her phone to the side. Just then, Little Bean approached her after putting down his school bag.

“Mommy, we are supposed to take the cats to the veterinary clinic for a check-up today.”

Han Muzi remembered about that as soon as Little Bean reminded her. Thus, she nodded in response. “That’s right. I’ll go with you.”

“Forget it, I’ll take you there,” stated Yan while tugging Little Bean by his collar and dragging him toward herself. Then, she glanced at Han Muzi in disdain. “Just look at how useless your mommy is. She must be exhausted from work. Little Bean, you are a good boy. Let’s take the cats back home, and let your mommy have a rest.”
