She considered herself to be lucky since she was able to marry under this kind of circumstances. There was indeed nothing for her to nitpick on.
However, when she noticed that her mother did not look sad or worried at all, she felt upset.

Shen Qi took a few bites before she put her chopsticks down. “Dad, mom, I have already eaten at the Ye residence already, hence I am stuffed. If you’ll excuse me, I have to go upstairs to grab some stuff.”
With that, Shen Qi did not wait for their reaction and got up immediately to go upstairs.
When Mrs. Shen saw this, she couldn’t help but pout and ask, “Is Qi blaming me?”
Upon hearing her, Mr. Shen sighed. “I don’t think so. She is quite a straightforward person.”
“If she is not blaming me, then that means she had a scrumptious feast at the Ye residence, and that she no longer fancies our food.”
Mr. Shen couldn’t help but frown. “What are you talking about?”
“Do you think I am talking nonsense? Just look at her expression; it’s as clear as day!” Mrs. Shen was so pissed that she threw the bowl and chopsticks down. She did not wish to eat anymore.
Shen Qi returned to her room, and when she pushed the door open, she noticed that her room was in a mess. Looking at the state of her room, she frowned as she entered.
My room wasn’t in this state when I left it. Who came in here and started rummaging through my things?
Seemingly recalling something, her face turned pale. Then, she immediately opened the drawers of her cabinet and took out a small box. It was then she noticed that the passbook inside was long gone.
Her face turned pale in that instant as she bit her lower lip.
Shen Yue definitely came into her room! When she thought about this, she turned around and went to find Shen Yue.
At the moment, Shen Yue was hiding inside her room and talking to her boyfriend.
“Don’t be like this. I don’t really have any appetite today, hence I don’t feel like eating. Erm… Why don’t you make it for me and send it over? Ok! I will wait for you.”

Knocking sounds were heard. As such, Shen Yue looked impatient. “Dear, can you wait for me for a moment. It might be my mother.”
With that, Shen Yue went and opened the door. Before she had taken a good look at the person outside the door, she complained under her breath, “Mom, I told you many times that I don’t feel like eating. Don’t come and bother—”
Before she managed to finish her sentence, she was stunned as she looked at the person outside the door in a dumbfounded manner.
Shen Qi was giving her a cold look.
“Shen Qi, why… did you come back out of the blue?”
Shen Qi took a look at the room behind her and noticed that her sister’s room was neat and tidy. On the other hand, she actually dared to make a mess of her room!
Perhaps she had done a bad thing, and that was why Shen Yue gulped guiltily as she placed the handphone beside her ear again. “My sister came to see me. I will call you back later.”
With that, she cut the call abruptly.
Shen Qi chose this moment to enter her room, thereupon Shen Yue immediately regained her senses and quickly tried to stop her.
“Shen Qi! Shen Qi! What are you doing?!”
Shen Qi stopped in her tracks as she showed her the box in her hand.
“Where is the contents of the box?”
When she saw the box, Shen Yue turned pale and she averted her gaze. “What’s this? H-How would I know anything about it?”
“You don’t know anything about it?”
“That’s right, Shen Qi, I am not sure what is inside there. So, how would I know the location of its contents?” With that, Shen Yue wrapped her hands around Shen Qi’s with a smile and said warmly, “Shen Qi, you haven’t returned home for quite some time since you got married. Erm… Is the Ye Family treating you well? Were you bullied?”
“If I said I was, would you want to switch positions?” Shen Qi fixed her gaze upon her and answered calmly.
In that instant, Shen Yue couldn’t keep the expression on her face any longer; she looked at Shen Qi in embarrassment for a moment. Then, she released Shen Qi’s hands before turning around and said, “Shen Qi, you know that it’s impossible; I have a boyfriend.”
“That’s right! Do you think you can get away with anything just because you have a boyfriend? Do you dare to say that you haven’t seen the contents of this box?”
Shen Yue turned around quickly and said, “Shen Qi, I told you before that I did not take away your passbook, so why do you keep questioning me?”
Shen Qi was speechless for a moment. “Did I say that it was a passbook?”
Sh*t! I slipped up! Shen Yue cursed herself.
“Shen Qi! It’s not like that! I accidentally entered your room last time and saw it. However, I swear that I did not take your passbook. You worked hard for that money, so how could I ever dare to touch your money?” With that, Shen Yue tried to act in a coquettish manner as she stepped forward and pulled on Shen Qi’s arm. Then, she said in a soft voice, “Shen Qi, I am your sister. How could I do such a thing to you?”
“It’s precisely because you are my sister that I know what you are capable of.” Shen Qi pushed her away in a ruthless manner before she opened her snowy-white palm and said, “Give me back my passbook.”
Shen Yue’s expression looked dark. “Shen Qi, I honestly did not take it!”
“Give it back!”
She had secretly saved that money after working hard for so many years. There were tens of thousands in there, so how could she allow Shen Yue to spend it all away like that?! She had to get it back no matter what.
“What are you guys doing?” Just as they were arguing, Mrs. Shen’s voice came from outside the door.
“Mom!” Shen Yue seemed to have seen her savior as she leaped toward her mother and hid behind her. “Mom, you finally came! Shen Qi is trying to frame me; she accused me of stealing her passbook, but mom, I never took it!”
When she heard this, Mrs. Shen immediately put on a stern face as she asked, “Qi, how could you frame your sister? Don’t you know where you put your own passbook?”
“I placed it inside my room. However, the room was in a mess as if someone had gone through my stuff. Other than her, who else could have entered my room freely?”
When Mrs. Shen heard this, she immediately turned to look at Shen Yue who was behind her.
Shen Yue immediately argued, “How would I know about it? Maybe a thief entered your room! In short, I did not take it!”
“Qi, Yue said she did not take it. You should believe her.”
Shen Qi said, “Mom, those were my entire life savings! How could you guys not know whether our house has been broken in or not? If a thief really broke into our house, why would he only enter my room? Since you and dad didn’t take it, then who else could have done it?!”
“Enough!” Mrs. Shen was pissed, thereupon she said directly, “I took it, alright?! We don’t have money anymore, so I took some to cover the household expenses. Is this how you are going to talk to me?! Do you even treat me as your mother anymore?”
Shen Qi yelled, “Mom!”
“What are you shouting for? Do you think you are so high and mighty now that you married into the Ye Family?! You even look down upon the meals I cooked for you! This is your second marriage and you aren’t even the original bride, so don’t think too highly of yourself! I will take responsibility for this money issue. I spent it, alright?! Do you want me to go out now and borrow some money to return it to you?!”
Shen Qi was speechless.
She looked at Mrs. Shen in disbelief; she could not imagine that those words just came out from her mother’s mouth.
“Mom, how could you say that? I obeyed your instructions and married into the Ye Family, didn’t I? Yet, why do you have to treat me this way?” Shen Qi’s lips quivered as she asked.
Mrs. Shen snorted and said, “What did I do to you, huh? I don’t see any problem with scolding you since you treated your sister in such a ferocious manner the moment you came back. Besides, if you don’t feel pleased at all, you can get out of this house!
