Han Muzi put back her phone and smiled. “How did you recognize me?”
The young woman smiled sweetly in response. “President Han had sent me your photo, and he had specifically instructed me to remember your face. Miss Muzi, after you.”
I see. My older brother is truly thoughtful. Han Muzi felt warm and fuzzy inside her. She nodded and followed the young woman.
After arriving at their destination, Han Muzi thanked her. Then, she went ahead to look for Han Qing. She knocked on the office door and was greeted with a deep and steady voice. “Come in.”
Han Muzi pushed the door open, and upon entering the office, she saw Han Qing seated on the couch with his legs crossed. He was sipping some coffee from a cup with one hand while flipping through some documents with the other. Today, he was wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses that made him look especially well-polished.
When Han Muzi stood rooted on the spot, Han Qing noticed the silence and looked up at her. “Muzi? Why are you here?” Gone was Han Qing’s calm façade the moment he saw Han Muzi. He placed the cup of coffee down before standing up and walking toward her.
Han Muzi collected herself and gazed at him while he approached her. Countless questions popped up in her mind. She wanted to ask him directly, but she thought it would be too deliberate. Hence, she flashed him a smile. “I’ve never been to your office, so I’m dropping by for a visit.”
Han Qing was her older brother after all; he knew his younger sister well. Although she was smiling, he noticed it was a rather forceful smile. Hence, he headed outside quietly and asked his secretary to bring Han Muzi a beverage before returning to Han Muzi’s side. “Aren’t you busy with your company? Why would you have time to drop by?”
Han Muzi didn’t sit down; instead, she paced around aimlessly. After that, she stopped in front of the French window and took in the city skyline in all its glory.
It was already evening now, and the sun was setting. The entire sky was dyed red by the sunset, and it was breathtakingly beautiful.
“Qing, are you keeping something from me?”
Han Qing paused, and a trace of surprise flashed across his eyes. After a while, he approached Han Muzi and stood right beside her.
“Silly girl, what have I not told you about?” Han Qing asked tenderly while ruffling Han Muzi’s hair. Why is this girl acting so odd suddenly? Did something happen?
“What is it?” Han Qing asked again as Han Muzi remained tight-lipped.
Han Muzi blinked several times before finally turning to face Han Qing. She inhaled deeply and asked, “Why didn’t you tell me that my divorce with Ye Moxuan didn’t go through?”
Han Qing’s hand that was caressing her hair immediately froze. It felt as if time stopped as Han Qing regarded her. Han Muzi stood quietly as well, but her eyes were swollen with sadness and they looked like they were about to overflow.
After some time, Han Qing retrieved his hand. “Have you met him?” He did not admit to it, neither did he deny it.
Han Muzi felt her heart sink gradually. I suppose it’s true then. “Are you admitting to it?” she asked.
Han Qing did not reply to her; instead, he regarded her sternly before looking away. “It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you about it—I have been trying my best to get it sorted. I just didn’t expect the two of you to bump into each other again.”
Han Muzi finally understood upon hearing his explanation. It turns out that Han Qing knew about this all along. He just didn’t inform me about it. I, on the other hand, thought that I was divorced long ago. I thought I had nothing to do with Ye Moxuan anymore.
Han Qing pursed his lips as he stared at her unwaveringly. “Did you meet him? What did he do to you? If you…”
“I can handle it myself,” Han Muzi answered coldly.
Han Qing was stumped at her response.
”From now on, I don’t need you to handle this on my behalf, Qing. I will get the rest of it sorted myself.”
“Muzi, are you mad at me?” Han Qing frowned. “It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you about this. I thought I’d be able to handle it, and that is why I didn’t mention it all along.”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head. “I’m not blaming you. I just thought that… as the involved party, I have the right to know the truth. For the past five years, I thought I had nothing to do with him anymore. But now, he’s telling me that I have yet to divorce him. Do you know how unprepared I was when I heard this? How should I face him in the future?”
“I am sorry.” Han Qing finally understood where she was coming from. “It’s all my fault, you…”
“No worries. Now that I am aware of it, I will personally get a divorce from him. I’m merely here to verify this piece of information. By the way, there’s a female celebrity who has been using your name to gain popularity recently. You should check on that and respond accordingly when you have the time.”
Han Qing responded incredulously, “What?”
“It’s getting late; I’m leaving now.” After Han Muzi left, Han Qing was still wondering what she meant earlier. However, his thoughts were soon replaced with other emotions. Muzi knows about this. It means that she has met Ye Moxuan. They wouldn’t have discussed this in their first meeting, so it means that they have been meeting for some time already. As her older brother, how could I have been oblivious to this? Suddenly, Han Qing felt that he was an incompetent older brother. His gaze darkened when that thought crossed his mind.
After that, he lost his focus and mood at work. He stayed in his office until the end of working hours. Then, he grabbed the suit jacket that was hanging on the rack and picked up his car keys before heading downstairs.
Just when he got out of the elevator doors, someone appeared in front of him. “President Han, there is a group of paparazzi waiting outside of the company building. You have to be more vigilant when you head out later.”
Han Qing stopped dead in his tracks when he heard that. “Paparazzi?”
“Yes. They have been camping outside since this morning. However, since there aren’t too many of them, they wouldn’t pull any stunts, so we have been ignoring them. Why don’t…”
Han Qing recalled what Muzi told him in his office. That’s right, Muzi told me that a female celebrity has been using my name to gain popularity and that I should address it when I have the time. Is this what she meant?
“It’s okay. Let’s just head out.” With that, Han Qing walked out of the company building. He remembered what Muzi said, and that was why he wanted to respond to it right now. The group of lurking paparazzi worked themselves into a frenzy and snapped away enthusiastically upon seeing Han Qing.
However, Han Qing was a very powerful figure, so they only dared to photograph him from afar; they didn’t have the courage to come any closer. Despite being very curious about this matter, they were much more concerned about their career progression.
There were only two people in North City that no one would ever dream of provoking. One of them was Ye Moxuan—the cold and ruthless Devil; the second was Han Qing who always wore a blank expression.
He was completely different from Ye Moxuan. Ye Moxuan was cold and detached; he looked extremely hostile and gave off a vibe as if he might kill whoever approached him. On the other hand, Han Qing was different because he was like an elder. He was calm and collected and despite not having a vicious and forceful presence, his expressionless face was inexplicably eerie.
Han Qing took several steps forward but none of the paparazzi had the courage to come closer. The flashlights of their cameras continued to shine on him as they snapped pictures of him. Hence, he stopped walking and beckoned at a group of them.
The color drained from their faces, and one of them approached him slowly.
“What are you doing?” Han Qing asked icily.
“Uh, you…” It was a female paparazzi.
“Why are you taking my pictures?” Han Qing appeared very calm.
The female paparazzi hesitated before answering him, “President Han, you are the center of attention because you are courting Zhao Yiru. We are—”
“Zhao Yiru?” Han Qing narrowed his eyes as though he was racking his brains. After a moment, he asked suddenly, “Who is that?”
