Han Muzi put down the bowl and chopsticks she was holding and her face darkened. “You went too far this time.”
“If you don’t take care of your body, then I’ll go even further next time. Don’t believe me?” Yan also put down her chopsticks and looked at her with a stern face.
Her face was serious, and it was clear she wasn’t joking. “Let me tell you this, Han Muzi. You can draw as much as you like when inspiration comes, but that doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want, especially with your body, and sit there drawing all day without eating. Who do you think you are? You’re just being irresponsible!
Don’t forget you have a child. Do you think that your body is made out of metal? Or do you think that your body is indestructible? Gastric disease is a serious matter, yet you treat it like it’s no big deal. If you died one day because of this, I’ll run away with Little Bean. Just don’t be sad when I hand him over to someone else.”
Han Muzi remained silent. Yan went a bit overboard with what she said, but… Han Muzi couldn’t get angry about it. She even felt that Yan was right.
While imagining how Little Bean might have waited for her at home last night, she thought of his tiny body lying on the side of the bed with his lonely little face. It was heartbreaking to her. Han Muzi said nothing. She just picked her chopsticks back up and quietly continued eating.
Seeing her like that, Yan couldn’t help but sneer, “You finally got your head straight, eh? Let’s see if you’d dare to do this again in the future!”
“Queen Yan, I know I was wrong. Can you please put away these foods now? I can’t stand it anymore.” Han Muzi pleaded.
“Hmph! I originally planned to torture you more, but seeing how pitiful you look now, I’ll let you off the hook this time.” Yan put away the aromatic fried foods when she was done talking.
After they were done with their meal, they came out of the hospital together.
“Is it fine for you to leave the hospital after just one day in your condition? Don’t you want to stay for a few more days?” Yan asked while walking along with her.
Han Muzi shook her head. “No. I have other things to attend to.”
It was Mr. Nan who sent Yan over to the hospital, so he was waiting for them outside. They called him over and got into the car.
While in the car, Han Muzi suddenly thought of something and asked in a deep voice, “How much money do I have left?”
Yan was startled when she heard this. She thought she had heard wrongly, so she reached out to dig her ears. “What did you just say?”
Han Muzi turned to her and asked again, “How much money do I have left?”
Yan broke out into laughter as she looked at her. “Are you joking? What ‘money’ do you have?”
Han Muzi frowned.
“Alright, you still have a bit of money left. But aren’t you planning to buy a house near the school? I don’t think you can afford the expensive prices there. Now, there’s money in the company, but those are company funds. Unless—”
“No.” Han Muzi cut her off before she could finish. “We can’t use the company’s money.”
“What’s wrong with you? That money is enough for you to afford a house. Why are you asking me this so suddenly?”
Han Muzi glimpsed at Yan and let out a shocking statement. “I want to terminate the contract.”
“What?” Yan couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “T-Terminate the contract? What do you mean? Are you talking about terminating Ye Moxuan’s contract?”
“Yes.” Han Muzi took out her phone. “So, I want to calculate how much we need to compensate him if we terminate the contract.”
“I told you since the start to terminate the contract, didn’t I? Only now do you see where I was coming from? Looks like you have been unnecessarily taken advantage of, and also wasted these few days of hard work!” Yan wasn’t strongly opposed to terminating the contract, even though it would cost them a fortune; she chose to respect Han Muzi’s choice. This was how they remained good friends after all this time—they understood each other.
“Hand it over to me. You’re still recovering from your sickness. I’ll calculate it when I get back and tell you the exact amount after.”
“Alright.” Han Muzi nodded as she put away her phone. “Oh yeah. Little Bean…”
“Don’t worry. I handed him over to your brother. We can go pick him up later this evening.”
“I see.”
When they reached the company, Han Muzi still felt a bit dizzy, so she almost fell when stepping out of the car. Fortunately, Yan was there to help her up. “Are you alright? Why don’t you just call it a day?”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head. “We need to terminate the contract today.”
Yan felt helpless but she just quietly helped Han Muzi into the building. When they entered the building, they bumped into Lin Zheng, who had just arrived for work. The young man was wearing a white shirt; his face was ice-cold and devoid of any emotions.
When he saw Han Muzi, his lips twitched, but he said nothing and just walked over. His legs were long which allowed him to walk at high speed. A second later, he passed them.
“Tsk, this Lin Zheng is annoying. He always looks like someone owes him money. Does he think he’s an ice cube?”
Han Muzi smiled. “Don’t mind him.”
“You have such a good temperament.”
The two of them thought they couldn’t make it to the elevator, so they decided to wait for the next one since there were only a few floors. However, the young man inside the elevator kept pressing the button to keep the elevator doors open while glancing at them coldly. “Can you hurry up?”
They were stunned for a while and quickly got in.
After they went in, Han Muzi leaned her back on the elevator’s wall to reduce her pressure on Yan. On the other hand, Yan stood still and peered at Lin Zheng. “You are not as cold as I expected.”
Lin Zheng ignored her as if she was air.
Yan glared at him and didn’t continue talking while the elevator went up. Soon after, Lin Zheng exited the elevator, but before that, he gave Han Muzi a quick look and promptly walked out.
After the door closed, the elevator continued ascending.
“He just took a peek at you, and he seemed like he was trying to say something. Is there a problem?” After what she said, Han Muzi also noticed it and blinked her eyes. “I’m not sure. But don’t worry about it. If there is a problem, somebody will inform us.”
“You’re right, that Xiao Yiyi, in particular, follows Lin Zheng around a lot. We’re here now; I’ll go fetch the contract to see how much we should compensate.”
Yan went out in a hurry while Han Muzi slowly followed her out of the elevator. She lowered her eyes as her long eyelashes concealed her emotions. After I’m done with this contract, I won’t have anything to do with him anymore, right?
She let out a huge sigh of relief when the thought of never meeting him again came to her mind. But… she still felt empty in the depths of her heart.
As she thought about this, Han Muzi let out a laugh. What am I thinking about? The man is already married. I am the only one that’s still single… like a lonely fool.
