That means you can call me Shelly at work, but other than that, we have nothing to do with each other. You don’t have the right to call me by my name.
Ye Moxuan’s face looked the same, but the light in his eyes dimmed down. He neither agreed nor disagreed. Suddenly, he remembered something and smiled. “Ye Moxuan.”
Han Muzi was stunned. Why is he saying his name?
“Gender—male. Hobbies…” His eyes fell on her face as he spoke slowly, “Golf and bungee.”
If Han Muzi still didn’t figure out what he meant after listening to that, she would really be stupid. She didn’t expect Ye Moxuan to start introducing himself so suddenly. She scribbled them down as if she didn’t already know everything about this man.
Ye Moxuan’s eyes were glued on her like a beast watching its prey. His thin lips opened and closed as he spoke, “Married.”
That word was like a bomb thrown into the depths of Han Muzi’s heart. Her writing hand froze a little, but she soon recovered. Is he trying to humiliate me by telling me that he’s married? She smiled inside. His marital status had nothing to do with her.
What she didn’t know was that Ye Moxuan had been watching her expression closely and trying to gauge some kind of reaction from her face. But there was none.
Han Muzi started discussing work with him regardless of his willingness to cooperate. She kept asking the questions patiently and if he didn’t answer, she would just repeat it several times. She would then take note of it and continue her line of questioning.
Ye Moxuan originally planned half an hour for her, but they used up more than an hour, though… he felt that this still wasn’t enough time for the two of them.
“Thank you for your cooperation. I’ve learned about your basic needs and will get my staff to take your measurements tomorrow.”
“Your staff?” Ye Moxuan chuckled softly. “Miss Shelly, you seemed to have forgotten that I have the right to choose my own designer, or… do you designers never do things by yourself? Shouldn’t you be taking the measurements yourself to get a more accurate result?”
“Mr. Ye, I have other matters to work on.”
“Isn’t it a new company? If there’s so much to do, what is everyone else doing?”
Han Muzi closed her eyes tightly and then slowly reopened them. No matter how much you say, the situation won’t change, would it?
“I didn’t bring my tools today. I’ll find some time tomorrow.”
“I’m not sure if I’ll be free tomorrow. Wait for my notice.”
“Sure, I’ll wait for your notice then. We’re done for the day; I’ll be leaving.”
“I’ll walk you out.”
Not expecting Ye Moxuan to follow her out, Han Muzi felt a little awkward. “There’s no need, Mr. Ye. I drove here by myself.”
“Oh?” Ye Moxuan remembered the car she was driving the other day. He unknowingly shook the keys in his hands and there was a clear jangling noise. “Leave your car here. I’ll give you a ride today.”
Han Muzi was dumbfounded.
“Aren’t you coming over to take my measurements? I’ll go pick you up after notifying you.”
No matter how calm Han Muzi was, the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but start twitching.
“There’s no need for the trouble. Mr. Ye, I really have to go now.”
When Han Muzi walked into the elevator, she thought Ye Moxuan must be insane to have uttered such nonsense. From the first time they met until now, everything he had been doing seemed out of line; even his words didn’t sound like the Ye Moxuan she used to know.
How did that cold, arrogant Ye Moxuan become like this? Why would he go so far just to humiliate me? Han Muzi looked down and drifted away as she stared at her shoes.
When she got downstairs and reached the reception, the receptionist quickly flashed her a smile. Han Muzi looked at her indifferently and went to get her car.
After she got into the car and fastened her seat belt, the magnetic, deep voice rang in her head. Married. What is he trying to say? Informing me that he is married so I won’t have wishful thoughts?
Although she had been trying to calm herself, she couldn’t help but feel an aching in her heart. She smiled bitterly as she put a hand over her chest. “Han Muzi, what are you thinking? Are you insane?”
She never thought of Ye Moxuan’s current situation; she only prayed to never bump into him again. But now that he declared it so clearly that he was married, it felt like a knife was digging a hole in her heart.
Han Muzi leaned back and rested for a while with her eyes closed. She then got ready to drive, but her hands were shaking terribly. She tried to hold it back and continued driving.
On the way, Han Muzi was unsettled and kept drifting away. When she got back to her senses and realized that there was a traffic light, she was already inches away from the blue BMW in front. Immediately, she stepped on the brakes. But it was too late. Bang! Her car had slammed into the blue BMW in front of her.
It was a rear-end collision.
Han Muzi sat in the car, shocked. Her back was covered with a layer of cold sweat. How could I… be so lost in my reverie?
The owner of the blue BMW soon got down and knocked on her window. Han Muzi took a deep breath, adjusted her mood, and got down.
“Hey, what is wrong with you? Don’t you know how to drive? You just crashed into someone else’s car!” Han Muzi received a fierce scolding as soon as she got out of the car. It was a modern and elegantly-dressed young lady. Han Muzi could see all the famous brands within one glance.
“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to,” Han Muzi apologized softly.
“Does apologizing help?” The girl looked at her in disdain—the way a rich person would look at the poor. Obviously, Han Muzi looked poor in her eyes. “Look at the car you are driving! It’s just a Volkswagen—so ordinary. Can you even afford to compensate me?”
“I’m really sorry! I really didn’t mean to! Do you want to call the police? I will pay regardless of how much it is; I won’t shirk my responsibility.”
“Pay? Can you afford it?” The girl’s voice rose. “Judging from your appearance, you are probably just some office worker, right? I’m afraid even a year’s worth of your salary won’t be enough, yet you have the nerve to say you can pay for it.”
Han Muzi felt that this lady was being unreasonable. My attitude is good enough, right? But this girl still acts so aggressively.
“I’m really sorry, but I’ve mentioned that I won’t pass the buck no matter how much it costs. Why are you so rude still? Regardless of whether I can pay for it, as long as I’m willing to pay, won’t that settle the issue?”
