Han Muzi asked swiftly, “What happened?”
Yan sat beside Han Muzi with the phone in her hands. Then, Yan continued swiping downward to go through the contact cards. “Muzi, look! So many people added you on WeChat. Who are they? Could it be possible that our company has gained so many clients overnight?”
“That’s quite impossible.” Han Muzi blinked several times. “Before I injured my hands yesterday, there weren’t so many people who added me as friends.”
“Could this be a prank?” Yan asked suspiciously. Then, she picked an account randomly to have a look. It turned out that the person’s friend list was blank.
“What is happening? We would know if a person has their WeChat Moments set as ‘Hidden’. However, these accounts look new. Is it possible that someone is pranking you?”
Han Muzi was confused, and so she got closer to have a look.
“I realized something important too. The account IDs are all similar…”
Han Muzi was at a loss for words.
“Alright, I can now confirm that it is a prank.”
With that, Yan added the accounts into the Blocked List one after another. “They might be trying to spy on our work, so I shall block each account. Eh, this last account doesn’t look the same. I wonder if it belongs to a client.”
“Let me have a look at the account.”
Yan showed the account to Han Muzi.
Han Muzi glanced at her phone, and somehow, she thought the account looked rather familiar.
I think I have seen it somewhere before…
When Han Muzi glanced at the numbers at the end of the WeChat account, her pupils constricted instantly. She then glanced swiftly at the introductory message.
“Hey, the person added you through your business card, which was recommended by our client, Lin Qingqing. Miss Lin must have introduced her friend to you! Let’s approve this account.”
Yan’s fair finger was about to tap on the button, but Han Muzi stopped her suddenly. “Don’t approve that account!”
Han Muzi’s tone became stern suddenly, and she had raised her voice too. Yan was so shocked that it caught her by surprise, and she ended up tapping the ‘Approve’ button by accident.
Han Muzi’s expression soured immediately, and she snapped, “Block the account immediately!”
Yan was baffled when she heard that, but she didn’t do as requested.
“Muzi, what is wrong with you? It’s a client recommended by Miss Lin. If we don’t add the account—”
“Block the account.”
“Why, though?” Yan asked in bewilderment. “Why do you want to block the account?”
“Just do as I say and stop asking so many questions,” Han Muzi answered with a harsh tone, looking rather upset. Hence, Yan didn’t dare ask further, and she nodded in acknowledgement.
“Alright, I got you.”
Then, she swiped across the phone screen and added the person into the Blocked List.
Han Muzi let out a sigh of relief once she saw that.
“Please supervise work at the office today. I will collect the design diagrams later in the afternoon.”
“Sure.” Yan returned Han Muzi her cell phone. “There isn’t anything else apart from that. Just ask Little Bean to phone me if anything crops up. I will rush home immediately.”
“Mm-hmm.”
After Yan left the room, Little Bean approached Han Muzi and asked her tentatively, “Mommy, is someone harassing you?”
“Huh? Why would you ask that?”
“Earlier, I heard Aunt Yan saying that someone is trying to add you on WeChat, mommy.”
Han Muzi smiled at him lovingly. “Don’t worry. The person must’ve added me by mistake.”
However, the smile vanished from her face after she explained to Little Bean, and her eyes darkened with concern as well.
I recognize those last digits on the WeChat account…
Besides, he added me through the business card recommended by Lin Qingqing. I know very well whom I’ve met yesterday.
Han Muzi leaned backward against her pillow and closed her eyes.
Ye Moxuan, what are you planning by adding me on WeChat?
…
At Ye Group.
In the conference room.
The board of directors were in a heated argument.
“I don’t agree with your view because it will only allow smaller companies to take advantage of the situation. It is not beneficial to our company at all. So we might as well not do it at all.”
An old man in his sixties glared at another old man of similar age, who was seated across the table.
“You old fart! You must be going senile. What do you mean that smaller companies would take advantage of the situation? We are the famous Ye Group in North City! Which small company would have the audacity to take advantage of Ye Group? Even if you presented the opportunity to them on a silver platter, they would not dare do it! Let alone without any permission!”
“Stop fighting! Let’s discuss this in a civil manner because we have to give this matter further thought and discussion.”
“Further thought and discussion? Hmph! What is there to discuss with someone like him? We should just go ahead and do it!”
The fight then went on and on.
Xiao Su observed the crowd from the side as they fought with each other. Meanwhile, Ye Moxuan, who sat at the head of the table, seemed indifferent.
Oh, he isn’t indifferent. He’s just too focused staring at his cell phone.
I’m not sure what’s wrong, but he has been checking his phone intermittently ever since he arrived at work this morning. He would pick his phone up to check something soon after putting it down.
During that time, Xiao Su noticed that the display across Ye Moxuan’s phone screen happened to be the WeChat interface.
I suspect that this is related to the incident last night where Young Master Ye phoned me to procure multiple WeChat accounts. That may be the reason he has been staring at his WeChat interface all day at work today. He seems distracted even in a meeting—he usually emphasizes meetings the most.
Everyone else is entangled in an intense discussion, whereas Ye Moxuan is ignoring everything.
Multiple thoughts flashed across Xiao Su’s mind, and he glanced at Ye Moxuan’s phone discreetly. He noticed Ye Moxuan’s phone vibrate suddenly, and Ye Moxuan visibly trembled, as though in shock.
For a moment, he seemed delighted.
Then, he opened the WeChat interface hastily.
Xiao Su stole a glance at the screen quietly.
‘Shelly has approved your friend request. You can now start chatting.‘
Shelly?
Who is Shelly?
Xiao Su was slightly puzzled. Why have I not heard of this name?
Has Ye Moxuan been staring at his phone all this while waiting for this person? It sounds like a woman’s name…
Xiao Su got closer stealthily because he wanted to see what Ye Moxuan could possibly say to that woman. However, an icy gaze turned toward Xiao Su suddenly, causing him to be so frightened that he straightened his back immediately.
Forget it; my life is more important. I suppose I shouldn’t be such a busybody.
Ye Moxuan wanted to send her a message, but when he arrived at the chat box, he realized he had no idea what to say.
We haven’t seen each other for five years. Here I am, adding her as a friend; but does she know that it’s me?
Maybe she doesn’t know it’s me.
Well, what should I say?
“What should I say?” Ye Moxuan suddenly glanced at Xiao Su, who responded with a grunt before leaning forward. “Yes, Young Master Yes?”
“Usually, what is the first thing to say in a chat?”
“Um, ‘How are you?’”
Ye Moxuan pursed his thin lips without answering him. He was obviously unsatisfied with that answer.
Xiao Su struggled before adding, “What should you say, if not ‘How are you’? Or… why don’t you greet the person by their name?”
Ye Moxuan was still unhappy with his answer, and so Xiao Su cleared his throat and suggested, “How about ‘Are you there?’”
Ye Moxuan’s eyes shifted as though he was pleased with that suggestion. Then, he started typing and sent a message saying, ‘Are you there?’
Xiao Su was just beside Ye Moxuan, and he couldn’t help it as the corners of his lips started twitching when he saw what Ye Moxuan typed.
If I’m not mistaken, Young Master Ye never chats with people on WeChat. His WeChat status is always on ‘Work Mode’. Besides, he is always blunt and direct in his text messages, so why is he… sending something so out of the ordinary today?
However, what shocked Xiao Su the most was the display message on the phone screen after Ye Moxuan sent out his message.
‘The message has been sent, but it was rejected by the other party.’
