Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 381

“Continue with the meeting,” Han Muzi ordered coldly before shifting focus back on the documents.

The meeting did not stop halfway, and so Zhang Yu waited at the door for almost an hour. By the time the conference room doors opened again, Zhang Yu peeked into the room anxiously.

Just when she looked up, she saw Lin Zheng, who had a cold and aloof expression, walking out of the conference room without sparing her a glance.

Zhang Yu’s lips parted, as if she was about to ask something, but she suppressed that urge when she saw how indifferent he was.

“Lin Zheng, wait for me,” Xiao Yiyi called for him while chasing after him hastily.

Shu Guo’er followed from behind, and she stared at the two of their back views as she made her way toward them too. However, someone pulled onto her sleeve out of nowhere.

“Guo’er, what happened in there? What were you discussing? Does a new company have to hold such long meetings?”

Shu Guo’er was an easy-going person, and she seemed good-natured as well. Besides, she didn’t take sides, and so Zhang Yu thought that it was best to ask her about this.

True enough, Shu Guo’er did not show any resentment while answering her in a soft voice, “It is exactly because we are a new company that it is necessary to talk about certain important things related to work, there were discussions as well. A new company requires expansion, so, Zhang Yu, I feel like we should give our new boss some time, and we shouldn’t be mean to her.

Zhang Yu replied unhappily when she heard that, “When was I mean? I didn’t do anything. You saw it yourself; when I went in earlier, she chased me out. Is this something a boss would do?”

“What about you?” Shu Guo’er sighed. “Our boss informed us that we have a meeting, and as a subordinate, why didn’t you attend the meeting?” she asked.

“I…” Zhang Yu was rendered speechless at Shu Guo’er’s blunt question.

Shu Guo’er patted her shoulder and advised her in a quiet tone, “You are at fault in this matter. You heard it the other day—you’re free to leave the company if you don’t wish to stay on. I think she is right, because we shouldn’t go against our true wishes.”

With that, Shu Guo’er smiled at her politely and marched forward.

After listening to her speech, Zhang Yu seemed to have thought of something suddenly. She turned around and glared at Shu Guo’er while asking her with an icy tone, “You just couldn’t wait to give me that speech, could you? Are you trying to get rid of everyone beside you? Are you hoping that once everyone had left, you would be the only person standing?”

Shu Guo’er paused her footsteps when she heard that. Then, she turned around and shot Zhang Yu a helpless look.

“If that’s what you think, so be it. I have something to attend to, so I’ll leave now.”

Zhang Yu was extremely unhappy after Shu Guo’er left because she felt as if her scolding fell on deaf ears. Nevertheless, although Shu Guo’er always wore a kind smile, as if always considering others’ feelings, Zhang Yu felt disgusted by her fake façade.

After everyone had left the conference room gradually, Han Muzi was still at her seat, arranging the documents they used during today’s meeting. Suddenly, she sensed a scorching gaze staring at her.

Han Muzi pursed her lips while looking up at that person.

“Is there anything else?”

Her voice was frosty, just like a block of ice.

It sent chills down Li Junfeng’s spine as he hugged his arms and shuddered involuntarily. “Such a beautiful ice queen. Why are you so cold? My beautiful goddess, would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”

Han Muzi frowned while staring at him in displeasure.

For some reason, she had a formidable aura despite being a woman. Li Junfeng felt as if he might suffocate from the pressure she was exerting, and so he smiled helplessly. “I’m just inviting my superior out for dinner.”

“Thank you, but there’s no need,” answered Han Muzi before she lowered her head again and focused on the stack of documents. After that, she flipped a page, and Yan approached to whisper something in her ear, so Han Muzi responded and nodded.

Li Junfeng felt his heart skip a beat while he stared at Han Muzi.

But soon, he thought it was a pity. Its a shame that such a beautiful woman belongs to Han Qing, sigh.

Besides, a person whom Han Qing treats exceptionally probably wouldnt fall for someone like me.

Li Junfeng stopped making his moves upon making that conclusion, and so he started packing his things to leave the conference room.

After he left, Yan couldn’t help but complain, “Li Junfeng and his habits die hard. Must he get involved with his own boss? Such a shameless man! I heard that he pursued every woman he laid eyes on. He wouldn’t let it go as long as it’s a beautiful woman. But I didn’t expect that he’d even—”

“That’s enough. Just ignore him,” replied Han Muzi calmly.

“Your brother is another one. Why must he choose a person like him when there are so many candidates to choose from?”

“My brother…” Han Muzi paused for a while, and her gaze darkened. “He has his reasons for the people he chose. It’s not just him; there are others as well. In any case… no matter who it is, we have to get through this adjustment period. You’ve worked hard today, Yan. You should head home earlier and get some rest.”

Yan shook her head vigorously when she heard that. “Forget it. Everyone has the same working hours, so they will start talking behind your back if I left early.”

The two of them continued their discussion for a while longer in the conference room before finally leaving the room.

When they walked out of the conference room, they realized in surprise that Zhang Yu was still waiting outside of the room.

Zhang Yu stuttered for ages when she saw them walking out.

Yan broke the silence. “What is it that you want?”

“I…” Zhang Yu glanced at Han Muzi and realized that she had a distant and blank expression. Hence, Zhang Yu had no choice but to explain. “To be honest, I didn’t barge into the conference room on purpose, but something bad happened. Besides, I didn’t skip the meeting on purpose; it was because Yueyue was ill suddenly, and so I and Wang An stayed in the office to look after her.”

Yan was at a loss for words.

Han Muzi replied, “Mm-hmm.”

Mm-hmm? Zhang Yu was bewildered at Han Muzi’s response. What does mm-hmm’ mean?

“I am telling you the truth. Yueyue fainted just now, and Wang An already sent her to the hospital.”

Yan remarked in annoyance, “We know now. You should go back to work.”

Zhang Yu was not quite sure what else to do. “Is that it?”

Han Muzi and Yan remained silent, and Zhang Yu was so frustrated that she almost burst into laughter. “You truly are a heartless woman. You aren’t concerned at all under such circumstances. Aren’t you concerned about Yueyue at all?”

When faced with Zhang Yu’s loud accusations, Han Muzi’s pink lips finally parted and moved as she answered with a quiet voice, “If her condition were truly severe, why are you still here?

“That’s right. Shouldn’t you be with Wang An to look after her? Why are you standing like a fool at the conference room door instead of looking after her?”

Zhang Yu spluttered in response, “I-I…”

She bit her lower lips. In all honesty, I didnt stay back in the office to look after Leng Yueyue, who wasnt feeling well. I look down on Han Muzi, indeed, and that is why I didnt feel like going for her meeting.

Coincidentally, Leng Yueyue was feeling under the weather, and since Wang An stayed back to look after her, it meant that I could stay in the office too.

However, after Wang An took Leng Yueyue to the hospital, I feel as if… it wouldnt look good on me to stay in the office alone, and so I thought Id better explain the situation.
