How can you be so shameless and suck up to people of higher standing?” When the maid didn’t receive any response from Shen Qi, she thought that she was intimidated so she taunted her even more smugly.
Shen Qi looked down and stared at her soiled shirt. Milk was still dripping from it, and there were broken shards, eggs and milk on the floor.
Everything looked messy and pathetic just like her.
“What are you doing?” A puzzled voice rang out.
When the maid, who was acting high and mighty, heard that voice, her expression changed immediately and she stepped to the side.
Holding a briefcase in his hand, Ye Linhan walked toward them, looking perplexed. When he noticed Shen Qi sitting there with a droopy head, covered in milk, his face became sullen.
“Shen Qi?”
The maid looked flustered, and she didn’t dare to make a sound.
Why is Young Master Linhan up so early today? He usually comes at seven o’clock on the dot.

The maid was afraid that Ye Linhan would blame her, so she quickly explained herself, “Young Master Linhan, Second Young Lady didn’t hold the glass of milk firmly and accidentally spilled it all over herself!”
However, Ye Linhan didn’t even give her a glance. He hurriedly put down his briefcase before walking toward Shen Qi.
Shen Qi sat in place unmoving as Ye Linhan approached her.
“Get up.”
He pulled Shen Qi up, but the latter bit her lower lip and pushed his hand away. “Linhan, I’m fine.”
Ye Linhan noticed that the front of her shirt was drenched in milk and figured out that she was probably reluctant to stand up because of that. Knitting his brows, Ye Linhan unbuttoned his blazer and took it off without hesitation before draping it over Shen Qi’s shoulders.
“Come. Stand up and go change your clothes.”
His blazer was quite warm. After a brief pause, Shen Qi raised her head slowly and met Ye Linhan’s gentle eyes which were looking at her tenderly.
Those eyes… Shen Qi paused for a while before slowly standing up with his support.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it. You should hurry up and change your clothes.”
“Young Master Linhan, she really spilled it on herself accidentally. I have nothing to do with this!” The maid was still trying to cover up her wrongdoings.
Ye Linhan turned abruptly and looked at her with exasperation. “I witnessed with my own eyes how you bullied her the last time. And you dare repeat it this time? Didn’t I warn you before? If you really hate being in the Ye Family, you can pack your things and leave today.”
Upon hearing that, the maid’s face instantly drained of color. “Young Master Linhan, I’m really innocent. I didn’t do anything to her!”
“Are you telling me that she spilled the milk on her shirt herself?”
The maid nodded.
A trace of disappointment appeared in Ye Linhan’s eyes. “You’re hopeless. Pack your things now and tell the butler to settle your salary. Then, you may leave.”
“Young Master Linhan, no!” The maid rushed up to Ye Linhan and pulled his hand. “Fine. So what if I did it? Young Master Moxuan doesn’t like her at all, so why should she stay with the Ye Family?”
Shen Qi never wanted to pin the blame on the maid but unexpectedly, she admitted it herself instead.
She knew that she should keep a low profile in the Ye Family so she could only swallow all her grievances.

“It is not your place to decide whether she stays in the Ye Family or not!” Ye Linhan’s eyes became cold. “You’re just a maid; such matters are none of your business! I must have been too lenient with all of you to the extent that you think that you can bully anyone as you please!”
Ye Linhan had always been a gentle person. Therefore, when he showed his sternness for the first time, the maid was frightened and she stared dumbfoundedly at him. “Y-Young Master Linhan… She’s just—”
“Leave,” Ye Linhan commanded with an exasperated look in his eyes as he raised his hand and rubbed the middle of his eyebrows.
The maid shot daggers at Shen Qi before she left in anger.
After she left, Ye Linhan finally turned to look at Shen Qi. “I’m sorry that you’ve suffered in the Ye Family. They weren’t like this in the past. I’m truly sorry for what happened this time. I’ll make it up to you.”
After that, Ye Linhan stopped speaking. Instead, he stared at her for a few seconds before holding her shoulder. “Come, you should go up and change your clothes.”
Without waiting for Shen Qi’s reply, Ye Linhan pulled her up the stairs.
Shen Qi couldn’t overpower his strength, and since he was such a gentle person, she couldn’t resist his kindness. Left with no choice, she was dragged up the stairs by him.
When they rounded the corner, they bumped into Ye Moxuan who was heading in the same direction. He was sitting on his wheelchair and wheeling himself forward.
When they met, Shen Qi stopped abruptly and widened her eyes in shock. She immediately pulled her hand back and kept a distance from Ye Linhan.

When he passed by Shen Qi, her heart raced. She bit her lower lip and mustered her courage, then turned to him and asked, “Are you going downstairs? Do you need my help?”
However, Ye Moxuan turned a deaf ear to her.

“You should go change your clothes.”

Meanwhile, when Ye Moxuan was wheeling himself to the lift, a figure suddenly appeared and pressed the button for him.

He then recalled Ye Linhan’s blazer which was draped on Shen Qi’s shoulders when he passed by her.
