Tucking several strands of stray hairs behind her ear, Han Muzi smiled faintly and said, “My brother is too focused on his career. Why don’t you… take him under your wing?”
Han Muzi was staring at Yan when she said that.
Yan’s fair cheeks immediately turned into the shade of pinkish-red when she heard that. “Hush, Muzi, what are you talking about? Your brother wouldn’t fall for someone like me!”
Han Muzi couldn’t resist teasing her upon seeing the sight of her blushing. “Have you asked him before? How did you know that he wouldn’t fall for you?”
“You! I’m not speaking to you anymore,” snorted Yan before turning around.
Muzi smiled, but she did stop teasing Yan.
Assuming an emotionless expression, Han Muzi looked up to Su Jiu who was seated in the front passenger seat, and met her helpless gaze. Han Muzi blinked several times at her, and the two of them exchanged a knowing grin.
Han Muzi had always felt it was a pity at the mention of Su Jiu. Siu Jiu had been by Han Qing’s side all along as his secretary and she was efficient in all aspects of work. If Han Qing had managed to marry such an efficient and good wife, it would have been a great blessing in his life.
Sometimes, I wonder if Han Qing is oblivious to it or he has his own reason. Despite working together for such a long time, he seemed unmoved by Su Jiu. So many years went by. Everyone could tell that Su Jiu had feelings for Han Qing, but Han Qing was the only one oblivious to it. Even a person with a heart made of stone would have given in, but not Han Qing.
Han Muzi had hinted to Han Qing about this many times, but he would always brush it aside. Hence, with time, she stopped bringing it up; she couldn’t very well force Su Jiu on Han Qing just because she felt that Su Jiu was a great woman. Everyone had their preference, after all.
It was such a pity for Su Jiu though. After that, Su Jiu went on a blind date when she went back to her hometown, and who would have thought that she would meet the love of her life from her first blind date? They got married after being together for less than a month, and shortly after, she got pregnant. Ten months later, she gave birth to a beautiful daughter, and she seemed to be enjoying a happy and harmonious family life since then.
Most importantly, Su Jiu’s husband treated her lovingly in every possible way. From another perspective, it kind of made up for the cold and detached treatment Su Jiu received from Han Qing for the past few years.
From Han Muzi’s point of view, there would be no regrets if a woman were to marry a husband who would care for her, protect her, and pamper her.
The car drove steadily toward their destination, and soon, they arrived at their new residential area—Rui Xin Community.
Mr. Nan drove the car into the garage, and everyone got out of the car. Just when Han Muzi was about to grab the luggage, Mr. Nan took over while commenting, “Miss Muzi, let me handle this.”
“It’s okay, I can tow the luggage myself. Besides, it’s not heavy. Let me do it.”
“Let him be,” Su Jiu remarked on Mr. Nan’s behalf. “Why do you think we rushed over from the neighboring city to Su City?”
Han Muzi halted when she heard that. Soon, Mr. Nan gathered all the luggage and towed them while taking the lead toward the house.
“Let’s go.” Su Jiu jangled the keys in her hand. “I’ve got someone to tidy the house for you beforehand. The house is fully-furnished, so all you have to do is to move in.”
“Whoa, Secretary Su, you are so sweet!” Yan shrieked graciously and threw herself at Su Jiu.
Han Muzi held onto Little Bean’s hand while commenting, “Well, let’s head up and have a look.”
The apartments in the Rui Xin Community were mainly duplexes. Han Muzi fell in love at it at first sight the moment she saw the apartment online, so she went ahead and made the purchase immediately.
As they entered the elevator, Su Jiu blurted, “Miss Muzi, honestly speaking, there are many exquisite apartments in North City. You haven’t met President Han for such a long time so you can just stay at the Han residence in North City. Why did you decide to buy an apartment here in Su City? Wouldn’t it be inconvenient for you to travel to and from the Han Group?”
Han Muzi smiled faintly when she heard that, something odd glinting in her beautiful eyes. “I prefer Su City over North City. Besides, the cities are next to each other; it takes only about two hours to come here. I’ll make time and go visit my brother. It’s not a big deal.”
“Well, I’m sure President Han will not mind at all. In fact, he will make time to see you even if you aren’t free, Miss Muzi.”
This part was true.
When she was abroad, Han Qing would travel once or twice a month just to visit her. If time was permissible, he would accompany her for a day or two. If he was swamped with work, he would make a day trip simply to have a meal with her.
In the beginning, I thought that this person… is giving his all as his role as an older brother. He simply spoils me rotten.
Who could possibly take red-eye for more than ten hours just to have a meal with me or just to hear me say his name? Who would do all that and fly right back to work? A robot might not be as capable as he is.
“Sigh, it’s great to have a brother who spoils his younger sister rotten. I’m so envious of you.” Yan was an only child. She had never experienced such sibling love before, so she was always envious of Han Muzi.
When they arrived at the entrance, Su Jiu went ahead to open the door.
Yan was the first one to barge into the apartment the moment the door was opened, with Little Bean followed closely behind.
“Whoa, it really is a duplex apartment. It’s so nice.”
“Mommy has such excellent taste!” Little Bean complimented as well. Side by side, Yan was like an adult-sized child walking next to Little Bean when the two of them cheered happily while hopping around the house. Soon, they climbed up the spiral staircase and headed upstairs.
Han Muzi didn’t have much of a change in her expression; it was as if she was accustomed to such an atmosphere. Instead, she started scanning the surroundings and checking the apartment out with Su Jiu’s company. “To be honest, President Han had already bought you a villa when you bought this apartment. The Han Family has so many properties, and you still spent your own money to buy an apartment.”
Han Muzi chuckled when she heard that. “I like the renovation and fixture style of this apartment. It has a great vibe to it.”
“That’s true, the interior of the duplex looks good indeed. Our house is European style, which is also rather good.”
The two of them chatted and finally settled on the couch in the living room, completely ignoring the cheering and excited screaming echoed from upstairs.
“By the way, Miss Muzi, have you found a job now that you’re back in the country?”
Han Muzi nodded. “Mm-hmm, I am in contact with some people. But… you know what my work is like. It’s more like a freelance job, so I don’t think I’d be required to go in for work officially.”
Su Jiu uttered, “Miss Muzi, President Han suggested this—since you would like to expand your career domestically, you can register your own company. What do you think?”
Register a company? I’ve thought about that as well, but… I’ve been feeling so lethargic for the past few years. Apart from searching for inspiration for my fashion designs, I have to look after Little Bean, which is why I’ve been working on a freelance basis.
She would accept certain invites when she had the time, but she would reject them if she were occupied. That was how she lived her life—willful and carefree.
Because of this, Han Muzi was well known as a willful idler in the fashion world.
“We’ll see. I haven’t decided yet. I will think about it if I need to.”
Su Jiu nodded, then placed the keys on the table and left after making sure that everything was settled.
Meanwhile, Han Muzi walked toward the window and enjoyed the scenery of the garden within the residential community.
I’m finally… back home.
