The shove came out of nowhere. Shen Qi almost fell forward but luckily she managed to grab the railing on the side to save herself from plummeting directly onto the floor.
Once she steadied herself and stood up, she heard a cackle of maniac laughter from behind.
“Hahaha, just look at how embarrassing she is! Let me tell you, she has the looks of a woman who has just been dumped. She is so ugly.”
Shen Qi inhaled deeply and stood firmly before turning around.
Qiang Wei had both her arms folded in front of her chest while staring at Shen Qi. “What? You don’t like to hear what I said?”
Shen Qi stared at Qiang Wei for the longest time before whipping her phone out to make a call.
“Are you trying to call for backup? Please don’t forget that you are a woman who has been dumped. Who can you possibly call for help? Hahahaha…” Qiang Wei laughed at her mockingly.
But soon, Qiang Wei’s smirk vanished the moment she heard Shen Qi’s words.
“Hello, is this 999? I am at the entrance of the Ye Group in North City, and I’d like to lodge a police report.”
Qiang Wei’s expression changed drastically. Police? Why is she calling the police? What does she want to report?
“It involves an attempted homicide. Yes, I’m pregnant, and this woman is trying to harm my baby. Mm-hmm, I’ll give you the full address. Please come over quickly to help me.”
Qiang Wei’s expression soured immediately when she heard that Shen Qi was pregnant.
Could she really be pregnant with Ye Moxuan’s child? In that case, is she here today for…?
After ending the call, Shen Qi kept her phone away and stared coldly at Qiang Wei.
Qiang Wei’s face turned pale. She bit her lip and asked, “Pregnant? You’re bluffing, aren’t you? You claimed that I attempted homicide but when have I ever tried to kill you?”
“Heh! You didn’t kill me, but you shoved me. Had I not reacted quickly, I would have fallen, and it would be your fault if something horrible were to happen to my baby!”
Qiang Wei was rendered speechless by her remark.
Several women, who were clustered around Qiang Wei, obviously heard Shen Qi’s conversation over the phone as well.
“She really called the police. Will we be dragged into it?”
“We don’t have anything to do with this, right? It’s between them. Qiang Wei was the one who pushed her, so Qiang Wei should be held accountable for this! It’s none of our business.”
With that, they walked farther away from Qiang Wei in silence but how could Qiang Wei have not noticed it? She turned around to glare at them furiously and bellowed at them, “What are you doing? This woman is just pretending, can’t you tell? How could she possibly be pregnant? She’s just bluffing!”
“Why are you so sure about my pregnancy status? Did you hire someone to follow me 24/7? Is that why you think you know me so well?”
“Huh, follow you? Who had time for that? Who do you think you are?”
Shen Qi smirked. “If you didn’t hire anyone to follow me, how do you know whether I’m pregnant or not? That’s it, I’m sick of speaking to you guys. The police will arrive soon so you guys can go ahead and explain to the police later.”
Her decisive remark made the rest of the group panicked and they started to retreat backward.
“Oh my goodness, she really called the police. I think it’s best for us to leave right now. We will be dragged into the mess if we stay here.”
“Let’s go. Let’s go now! Qiang Wei has a grudge against her. Why should we be dragged into it? We have no enmity against her anyway.”
Hence, the entire group dispersed quickly, leaving Qiang Wei alone.
Alone and helpless now, Qiang Wei’s cockiness—when she confronted Shen Qi—dissipated in an instant. She screamed agitatedly, “A bunch of useless cowards! Don’t you think for a second that I am afraid of you just because you called the police! Just wait and see!”
After yelling, Qiang Wei turned around and ran away.
Shen Qi wiped her brow when she glanced at Qiang Wei’s back before shifting her gaze at her phone screen. In reality, she did not make any phone calls; she was just trying to intimidate them.
Fortunately, they ran away due to the hoax, otherwise, they would have caused her more trouble by hanging around.
Shen Qi did not have the patience to deal with them.
After waiting for ages, the security guards finally arrived.
Xiao Su was following them from behind, and he rushed forward the moment he saw Shen Qi.
“Second Young Lady.”
Shen Qi squinted slightly at the way he addressed her. She took a while to regain her composure before speaking in a low voice, “Xiao Su, I am no longer the Ye Family’s Second Young Lady. From now on, you can call me by my name.”
Xiao Su was at a loss for words for a short while upon hearing her remark, and then said, “Second Young Lady, Young Master Ye is just having a fit of anger which explains the irrational decisions he made.”
“Irrational?” Shen Qi smiled faintly. “Do you truly believe that? You should know better than me the kind of man Ye Moxuan is. He must have thought things through to make such a decision. Since he handed me the divorce papers, it means that there is no going back.”
“Well…”
“I agree to our divorce,” Shen Qi answered. She pursed her red lips and pondered for a moment before adding, “I’m not here to pester him today. Can I meet him, please?”
Xiao Su hesitated before answering, “Well… I have to ask Young Master Ye.”
“Sure, I’ll wait.”
Xiao Su went ahead to ask Ye Moxuan. He took a much shorter time than the two security guards because he returned within a couple of minutes with an anxious expression. “Let’s go. Young Master Ye has a meeting in five minutes, but he agreed to meet you now. If you have anything to say to him, please grab this chance and tell him.”
With that, Xiao Su reached out and pulled her into the building. Shen Qi—barely able to keep up with his fast strides—felt bitter.
Is he only giving me five minutes? Minusing the time I’ll have to spend to go up, I will have less than three minutes left. But that’s fine. Be it a couple of minutes or a couple of hours, as long as I get to say what I came here to say, it’ll be fine.
Once they arrived at his office upstairs, Xiao Su stood right at the entrance. “Young Master Ye is inside. There are another three minutes before the meeting. Second Young Lady, please go right in.”
Shen Qi marched forward and pushed the door open.
Ye Moxuan was in his wheelchair, sitting right in front of the French windows with his back facing her. He seemed to be looking at the scenery outside the window.
After a moment of hesitation, Shen Qi approached him.
“I have something to tell you.”
The air around him was icy-cold. He didn’t bother to turn around to face her nor answer her.
After a few seconds, he huffed in annoyance, “Whatever you want to say, spit it out quickly. I am very busy.”
Shen Qi was stunned for a moment and answered incredulously, “It’s just three minutes. You can’t even bear with me for three minutes?”
Ye Moxuan turned the wheelchair around. He was facing her right now, looking frigid and emotionless.
“You shouldn’t spout nonsense since you know that you only have three minutes.”
After that, he raised his arm to check the time on his watch before reminding her coldly, “You have two and a half minutes left. Get lost if you have nothing to say.”
“Ye Moxuan, I don’t need you to tell me that. Once I am done saying my part and doing what I need to, I will leave.”
Ye Moxuan fixated his ghastly glare on her.
We haven’t seen each other for just a few days, but she seems different. Besides… she is wearing bright red lipstick, and it gives her… quite the charismatic presence.
What does she want to say to me? Ye Moxuan wondered with a deep scowl while glowering at her in silence.
