“President Han.”
Su Jie’s greeting pulled Han Qing back to his senses. He glanced at Su Jiu briefly and then focused on Shen Qi.
It was only when he saw the clean clothes on her that he looked away in relief.
However, after a while, something struck his mind and he frowned at Su Jiu, who had no choice but to explain, “Miss Shen is worried about Miss Xueyou, so she insisted to come with me.”
From their exchanges, Shen Qi could guess what was going on, so she stepped forward to speak on behalf of Su Jiu. “I insisted on coming here. How do you expect me to rest now that Xueyou is in this situation? It’s better for me to wait at the hospital with you.”
Han Qing shrugged quietly upon hearing Shen Qi’s remark.
They waited outside the emergency room for a long time. After a while, Su Jiu forced Shen Qi to sit down next to her. Only when she sat down that she realized her legs were shaking so badly; she hadn’t noticed it at all when she was standing.
Su Jiu put her hand on her lap.
“Are you okay?”
Shen Qi raised her head and met Su Jiu’s concerned eyes. “I’m fine.”
They waited for a while longer. Finally, the door of the emergency room opened. Shen Qi, who was sitting down, quickly stood up and stumbled forward.
A pair of big hands caught her just in time. Shen Qi raised her gaze and met Han Qing’s calm eyes.
“Be careful,” he said in a low voice.
Shen Qi nodded blankly.
“Are you the family of the patient who attempted suicide?” the doctor asked after emerging from the door. Han Qing stepped forward and hummed a reply, while Shen Qi followed closely behind him.
“I am,” Han Qing replied in a low voice.
The doctor glanced at him and then at Shen Qi before saying, “The patient is out of danger now. Fortunately, the wound is not deep. If she had cut herself any deeper, she would have died.”
Although there was a moment of fear, Shen Qi clearly heard that Han Xueyou was no longer in danger now.
She heaved a big sigh of relief. Her legs then went jelly, and she fell backward.
“Miss Shen!” Su Jiu was standing just behind her, so as Shen Qi fell backward, she instinctively reached out to hold her.
Han Qing turned around due to the loud yelp, only to find that Shen Qi had fainted.
The doctor was also shocked. He quickly went forward to check on Shen Qi and said, “I think she was traumatized by the whole event. Help her to rest in the ward next door—she looks terrible.”
Su Jiu nodded and was about to help Shen Qi to go to the ward when Han Qing, who had ironed out the details with the doctor, suddenly walked forward and lifted Shen Qi in his arms before saying to Su Jiu, “Go and settle the hospital admission process.”
Su Jiu stared at the scene in front of her in a daze and it took her a while to regain her composure. “Noted, President Han.”
As Han Qing walked away with Shen Qi in his arms, Su Jiu stood there watching this scene in suspicion and disbelief.
This is weird. From the way President Han treats Shen Qi, it is definitely more than ordinary friends between them. However, from the way he holds her, it doesn’t look flirty at all, but rather… like a brother caring for his sister. Could it be that because Shen Qi and Han Xueyou are good friends, President Han treats her as a sister as well? Forget it, what am I thinking? President Hang is a decent man—he knows his boundaries. I’m just his secretary and it’s not in my job scope to worry about it.
Thinking of this, Su Jiu hurriedly went to handle Han Xueyou’s hospital admission process, leaving Mr. Jin alone. For a moment, Mr. Jin didn’t know what to do. After some consideration, he felt that following Shen Qi would be the better option since he came here with her.
Hence, Mr. Jin quickly caught up with Han Qing. A peculiar feeling emerged in Mr. Jin’s heart when he saw Han Qing taking Shen Qi into the ward and laying her carefully on the bed, but it didn’t seem like there was any intimate spark between them.
I better not tell Young Master Ye about this, for it may affect their relationship.
Upon thinking of this, Mr. Jin made up his mind to just wait by the door.
Something struck Han Qing’s mind that he suddenly raised his head to glance at Mr. Jin, who hurriedly stood by the door without a word.
Su Jiu rushed over after going through the process. “President Han, would you like to fetch a few maids from home to take care of Miss Xueyou?”
“Sure.” Han Qing nodded. “Do it, and send two more people over here.”
Su Jiu paused and then nodded.
Shen Qi woke up after only about ten minutes, but she was still very pale. She realized that she was in a quiet ward and saw Han Qing sitting in a chair beside the bed.
After a few seconds of silence, Shen Qi suddenly remembered what had happened before. She immediately lifted the blanket and sat up, creating a shuffling noise.
Han Qing looked at her. “You’re up?”
“I’m sorry…” Shen Qi was too embarrassed to meet his gaze.
Han Qing frowned and asked, “What for?”
Shen Qi bit her lower lip awkwardly and explained, “I can’t believe I’m still causing you trouble after what happened. I’m really sorry.”
After speaking, Shen Qi got out of bed and bowed, apologizing to Han Qing.
Her attitude somehow annoyed Han Qing a little. For some reason, he didn’t want to see her bowing to anyone, especially to him.
“There’s no need to apologize,” Han Qing said in a clear voice. “She slit her own wrist. It has nothing to do with anyone.”
Hearing that, Shen Qi raised her head and stared at him. “How is Xueyou?”
“She is still under observation in the intensive care unit and will be transferred to the general ward after 24 hours.”
Still under observation in the intensive care unit? Shen Qi’s face suddenly turned pale. Does it mean that she is still in danger?
“The doctor said that she is already out of danger. They let her stay in the intensive care unit for observation just in case there are some complications. Don’t worry about it.”
Shen Qi didn’t know what to say.
Still very much worried, she curled her palms—that were hanging on either side of her body—into tight fists and then released again, repeating this action several times.
She always felt that there must be a reason for Han Xueyou to call her over just to kill herself.
Perhaps it was because of our fight and my harsh words last time. Did they trigger suicidal thoughts in her mind?
Or is there another reason?
In short, it must be about her and Ye Moxuan.
Otherwise, how would Han Xueyou, who had always been optimistic and cheerful since she arrived at the Han Family, suddenly decide to kill herself?
Shen Qi couldn’t find any other reasons apart from this.
“It’s all because of me. I owe you an apology!” Shen Qi bit her lower lip firmly. “She slit her wrist because of me, but please rest assured, President Han, I will talk to her as soon as she wakes up. ”
Han Qing had no interest in knowing girls’ conflict, but it was quite impossible that a small conflict could lead to Han Xueyou attempting suicide. If that was the case, what would happen if the conflict escalated?
Han Qing looked at Shen Qi inquisitively, as if he was questioning her.
Of course, Shen Qi could see right through him, but whatever happened between her and Han Xueyou was too complicated to explain.
“Sorry, I can’t tell you now.”
