Ye Moxuan gritted his teeth while staring at the woman who was staring back at him with bloodshot eyes. He resented her when she said that, but his heart clenched in agony as he could see how upset she was.
Ye Moxuan was blinded by anger, and in that instant, he was at his wit’s end, rendering him clueless in handling her.
Shen Qi continued, “I am not deciding by myself.”
“In that case, don’t bring up divorce so casually.”
Shen Qi paused to look up at him. “Well, you owe me an explanation. I want a thorough and complete explanation.”
Somehow, Ye Moxuan had the feeling that Shen Qi was questioning him out of jealousy. However, before she mentioned it, Ye Moxuan was planning to keep this matter a secret from her, and that was why he didn’t take the initiative to offer any facts. “Tell me what kind of explanation you need.”
Shen Qi smiled bitterly at him. “We’ve already come to this point. Are you still reluctant to tell me yourself? Perhaps, you like the feeling of alternating between two women. Does it make you feel accomplished by enjoying two women simultaneously?”
“What nonsense is that?” Ye Moxuan hissed through gritted teeth. “What nonsense are you spouting?”
“Do you know whom I have met with today?”
Ye Moxuan stared at her unblinkingly while waiting for her answer.
Shen Qi chuckled. “I didn’t just meet Yan; I met Han Xueyou in the morning.”
In the beginning, Ye Moxuan was still confused, but he realized something with a start. His gaze turned steely when he asked her, “You met her today?”
“That’s right. Isn’t it such a coincidence? I just met her earlier, and I saw her wearing a pair of pink stud earrings, and they are the exact same pair I tried on in the jewelry shop previously. On the other hand, the pair you gave me just now, unfortunately, looks very similar to that pair, but I recognized the difference immediately,” Shen Qi explained bluntly, thereupon Ye Moxuan’s brows knitted in a tight knot.
Initially, before investigating this matter thoroughly, Ye Moxuan had planned to keep it a secret from Shen Qi, but he did not expect her to have met Han Xueyou already. Forget about Shen Qi meeting Han Xueyou in person, the worst thing is that she wore that specific pair of earrings to meet Shen Qi. In that case, what would Shen Qi think after seeing that?
“Do you think that I gave her that pair of stud earrings?” Is that why she had such a huge reaction after opening that box?
Shen Qi answered him with a question, “Who else would’ve given her that pair of earrings, if it wasn’t you?” She articulated her question clearly while staring at him, as if trying to read his mind by staring into his eyes. However, Ye Moxuan’s gaze was steady and calm, without any emotions at all.
Shen Qi paused, and she heard his gravelly voice while he tried to explain himself, “Would you believe me if I tell you I didn’t give it to her?”
Shen Qi did not answer him, but it was obvious that she didn’t believe him because she wouldn’t have bothered asking him if she trusted him in the first place. However, what else could he do at this point?
“I am the one asking you; why are you asking me these questions now? If you didn’t give them to her, why are the earrings with her?” Shen Qi seemed determined to get to the bottom of the truth by interrogating him. She seemed to have realized how silly she sounded after asking him that question. I sound like a silly woman, asking my husband if he loves me. Since when did I become that woman?
Upon thinking of that, Shen Qi inhaled deeply to suppress the boiling anger within her chest, thereafter she turned away. “Forget it. I’m sick of talking about this with you. You should do whatever you want.”
With that, she pushed him while trying to get away from him. However, Ye Moxuan pressed her firmly back onto himself while speaking in a cold and detached tone, “I did not give her the stud earrings, and the situation is not what you think. Can you trust me now?” He then hooked her chin up since she refused to meet his eyes, and he forced her to look into his eyes while explaining with a chilly voice, “I have never explained anything to anyone. You are the first woman who has made me speak so much.”
Dumbfounded by his words, Shen Qi stared at him. “So what? Do you think that apart from trusting you, I should be grateful for your kindness?”
Ye Moxuan pursed his lips while staring at her with an icy stare. “Must you be this difficult? Miss Second-marriage, why are you causing so much trouble?”
“Causing trouble, you say?” Shen Qi cackled maniacally, her face looking ghostly pale under the illumination of the light. “If you think that I’m causing trouble, you shouldn’t touch me then; you should just ignore me and leave me alone!”
Ye Moxuan scowled at her while staring at her unwaveringly. “You—”
“Let go of me!” Shen Qi screamed, and she yanked away his hand that was holding her chin. After that, she stood up and walked toward her spot on the floor. “Ever since I got married to you, I’ve never lived a day happily. You don’t know the difficulties I face on a daily basis just to stay in the Ye Family while fulfilling the conditions you’ve set out for me, and I even signed a contract after you threatened me. Ye Moxuan, do you think that this is the kind of life I want? I’ve had enough.”
“You’ve had enough?” Ye Moxuan squinted at her threateningly. “Miss Second-marriage, are you aware of what you’ve just said?”
“Of course,” she replied while jutting her chin up defiantly. “I meant what I’ve said tonight. Every word. Let’s just get a divorce this instant.”
“Pardon?” Ye Moxuan felt as if he might lose his mind thanks to this woman. She mentioned divorce several times from the beginning of their conversation, and she seemed determined to cut ties with him. Her determination to have nothing to do with him was driving him mad.
He was very angry, and rage was boiling in his chest. However, he was completely helpless when faced with this woman. He then laughed mirthlessly when he noted how insistent she sounded. “You can forget about that. Since you are married to me, you are mine—alive, and even in death. You want a divorce? You can dream on, for you are not going anywhere.”
Shen Qi stood rooted to the spot when she heard that before turning to look at Ye Moxuan in disbelief. “Why? I’m just terminating the contract earlier.”
“Contract?” Ye Moxuan’s gaze turned steely, and he raised his voice. “The contract is with me, and I am the party that initiated the contract. I will end it when I want to end it.”
“Y-You are too much!” Shen Qi stammered.
Ye Moxuan cocked a brow at her while flashing a cruel smile. “You are tied to me for the rest of your life from the moment you married into the Ye Family, so don’t you even dare dream of escaping from me.”
“As for the contract,” Ye Moxuan added while scanning her face. “If you think that you have the right to terminate the contract on an earlier date, I can tell you right now that I can very well destroy it.”
Shen Qi asked in exasperation, “What exactly do you want? You don’t even love me, so why must you tie me down? Can’t I divorce you? The two of you are in love with each other, and I am allowing the two of you to be together. Is that wrong?”
Ye Moxuan’s gaze darkened when he heard that. “In my world, I am the one who makes the decision. Besides, who says that I want to be together with her?” His voice was barely a whisper when he muttered the second sentence, and so Shen Qi did not hear him. She only heard his first sentence, and she got so infuriated that she decided to completely ignore him before she stormed back to her sheets spread over the floor.
In the end, she didn’t even bother changing out of her soiled clothes and just lay down straight away. She was blinded by anger at that moment, and she decided to ignore Ye Moxuan.
