“Stand right there!” Shen Qi shouted at those women who were marching toward her furiously. Although Shen Qi was thin and slender, her tone carried an undeniable intimidating aura, which made them stop dead in their tracks.
“Madam-I-don’t-know-your-name, you claim that I seduced your husband. May I know if you have proof?”
Upon hearing that, everyone looked at Shi Qinbao in puzzlement.
“Pftt, you are a shameless woman, and anyone could tell that you are indecent. Why would I need any proof?”
“In that case, are you saying that any woman whom you deem shameless would seduce your husband? Who do you think your husband is? Why would you think that everyone wants to seduce him?”
“Y-You are jealous that my husband won a 5-million lottery! You are vain and greedy, and you are eyeing his riches. That is why you seduced him on purpose!”
“5 million?” Shen Qi smiled indifferently. “May I know what your husband’s surname is?”
“It’s Lin!”
The audience were confused at that point.
“What is happening? Didn’t she claim that Shen Qi is seducing her husband? Why does it look like Shen Qi doesn’t even know who she is? Besides, that woman sounds… weird. Why would a woman seduce her husband just because he won a 5-million lottery?”
“In all honesty, in comparison with the Ye brothers, 5 million… is most probably a drop in the ocean? After having a taste for the high life, do you think Shen Qi would even consider such an insignificant man?”
“Do you even know what you’re saying? She has Young Master Ye and Vice President Ye wrapped around her little finger. She has no qualms alternating between two brothers, so there’s probably no harm in adding another man to her list! She is merely pretending not to know her. Who knows how Shen Qi really is as a person?”
“You have a point! If she hadn’t seduced that man, why would that woman come all the way here despite being heavily pregnant?”
Listening to the crowd’s hushed discussion, Shi Qinbao realized with a start that Shen Qi was setting her up for failure, and there she was answering Shen Qi’s questions like a fool. Hence, Shi Qinbao flushed with anger, and she stomped her feet while thundering at her. “You wench! How dare you deny it after seducing my husband? Unfortunately, you have miscalculated today. Aunties, don’t be afraid of her. Just go ahead and capture her. Then, we will go back straightaway to confront Lin Jiang!”
“Alright!”
With that, those burly-looking women made their way toward Shen Qi. The color drained from Yan’s face, and she screamed at them, “Don’t you come any closer! Where is the security? Why are you allowing this bunch of people to cause trouble here?”
Shen Qi frowned. “Yan, step aside.”
Yan’s eyes bulged in disbelief when she heard that. “But they look so fierce; it’s best to not face them head-on! If they attack you—”
“Don’t worry.” Shen Qi cut her off and pulled Yan to the side before walking toward those women.
Initially, Shen Qi was standing behind Yan, so the women thought that Shen Qi was afraid of them. Hence, they became brazen with their actions, but now that they saw Shen Qi walking toward them fearlessly, they suddenly panicked. They stood rooted to the spot, staring at her helplessly, before turning around to glance at Shi Qinbao.
Shen Qi walked steadily toward them, and she walked past those women to stop right in front of Shi Qinbao.
“W-What are you doing?”
Shen Qi was wearing high heels, so she was at least half a foot taller than Shi Qinbao. Since Shi Qinbao was pregnant, her body was especially swollen, and it made her look even shorter than usual. Furthermore, she didn’t look as fair as Shen Qi was.
Shi Qinbao suddenly felt self-conscious and inferior the moment she and Shen Qi were standing close to each other.
Shi Qinbao was indeed jealous of Shen Qi because she and Lin Jiang were together for two years. Moreover, Lin Jiang, that b*stard, still misses Shen Qi even though they’re divorced. In fact, he went ahead and pestered Shen Qi even after she was involved with another man, which resulted in the bankruptcy of his company.
“Madam Shi, I think you know who the real mistress is. You’ve brought a bunch of people to cause a ruckus in the company. Are you hoping that others would realize that you are the mistress?”
“Hmph! You think that I am the mistress?” Shi Qinbao snorted. “Why would you think that? Just because Lin Jiang got married to you? Is that why you think that I am the mistress? Well, let me tell you this—we were already together before your marriage, so you are the third party in our relationship!” Shi Qinbao smirked.
“Oh?” Shen Qi cocked a brow at her before chuckling casually. “In that case, since the two of you were together, why did Lin Jiang marry me instead of you?”
Upon hearing that, Shi Qinbao’s expression soured. “That was all thanks to you. If you hadn’t forced him to marry you, Lin Jiang would’ve never married a woman like you!”
“I forced him to marry me? Pfft, are you saying that I forcefully dragged him to the Civil Affairs Bureau? Did I threaten him with my life to beg him to marry me? Besides, no offense, but I had no idea that the two of you were together. Do you know what he said to me when he was proposing to me? He said that he had only loved me in his entire life and that he was pure, innocent, and wouldn’t dream of being with another woman. If I knew that he was hooking up with you, I wouldn’t have married him, and you wouldn’t end up in such a sorry state.”
“What did you just say?” Shi Qinbao’s expression soured. “That wasn’t what Lin Jiang told me! He said that you forced him to marry you!”
“Me? Forcing him to marry me? What does he have that is so irresistible that I must marry him?”
“You!” Shi Qinbao flushed with rage.
Shen Qi flashed a good-humored smile when she saw how angry Shi Qinbao was, and her tone sounded indifferent. “Why can’t you see the situation clearly? From Lin Jiang’s point of view, the two of us are most probably nobodies. You think that you are the victim in this relationship, but what about me? I was married to him for two years. After that, he severed ties with me by divorcing me, and everything I had poured into the marriage went down the drain in a blink of an eye. How long do you think a woman’s youth is? I was in the prime of my youth during those two years, but what was I doing then? I became a homemaker for our marriage, and I did the laundry and cooking once he came back from work. However, how did he repay me in the end? So, I was just like you—you thought that you would end up with him, but he got married to another woman. If he did it once, he probably would do it again. Do you think that he wouldn’t go gallivanting with other women just because you have an unborn child?”
Shi Qinbao’s eyes bulged in shock when she heard that, and she stared at Shen Qi in disbelief.
“W-What do you mean by that? Are you saying that you aren’t the person whom Lin Jiang has been in constant contact with on the phone recently?”
Shen Qi cocked a brow at her. “Although I have no strong suit, I am smart enough to never take back an ex under any circumstances. Instead of causing trouble for me here and angering yourself, shouldn’t you return home as soon as possible to raise your unborn child in peace?”
Shi Qinbao bit her lower lip hard. “Who else is there aside from you?”
“Who knows? I told you—if he did it once, he can do it again. If I can be a sacrificial lamb for Lin Jiang’s marriage, it means that you will end up the same in the future.”
“No! Impossible! It must be you!” Shi Qinbao glared at her while hissing through gritted teeth. “You must have told Lin Jiang something. Otherwise, he wouldn’t treat me in such a horrible way. Shen Qi, you shameless woman! I must rip your mask away to reveal your true colors!” Suddenly, Shi Qinbao completely forgot the fact that she was pregnant and came charging at Shen Qi.
