Time flew, and a week passed from the day Shen Qi shoved Ye Moxuan away and gave him a slap. Shen Qi felt much calmer ever since she admitted to Han Xueyou that she was in love with Ye Moxuan and was ready to stay by his side for whatever remaining time she had.
Perhaps from the beginning, I was overthinking and I’ve asked for too much. That is most probably the reason there was so much misunderstand between Ye Moxuan and I.
If I don’t care so much and look at things with a neutral stance, maybe Ye Moxuan and I would be able to spend the rest of our time together as an ordinary couple.
Hence, Shen Qi understood that it was better to interact with Ye Moxuan calmly instead of being calculative.
Shen Qi understood the key for a stable relationship, but Ye Moxuan was confused by her actions.
He was a very proud man, and he always refused to give in during arguments with Shen Qi. Perhaps he wasn’t even sure of his feelings for her in the beginning because she was just a collateral in their arranged marriage, but gradually… something seemed to have changed.
However, it felt as if she didn’t mean anything more apart from that.
Initially, Ye Moxuan was prepared for Shen Qi’s jealousy and anger; however, she was eerily calm from that day onward, unlike an ordinary person. What was more surprising was the fact that she greeted him every morning after waking up from her sleep.
After that, she would get out of bed as if nothing was wrong before freshening up in the bathroom. She no longer went against him in the company, and she would put her heart into her work and daily activities while also leaving work as usual.
After work, she would take the initiative and head to the mall to research tips and tricks of marketing.
Ye Moxuan observed everything in silence, and all these further darkened his eyes, which were already pitch-black.
“Is she going mad?” Ye Moxuan asked all of a sudden.
Xiao Su, who was just behind Ye Moxuan, was stunned to silence because he did not understand what Ye Moxuan was asking. It took him some time before he understood the question, and so he asked in a quiet voice, “Young Master Ye, are you referring to Second Young Lady?”
Ye Moxuan replied in annoyance, “Who else would I refer to?”
“Ugh.” Xiao Su was scared witless by Ye Moxuan’s sudden outburst.
Xiao Su recalled things that happened recently while scratching his head. “I don’t think so. Hasn’t Second Young Lady been acting very normal recently?”
She has been calm while chatting with Ye Moxuan these days, and she wouldn’t lose her temper at him like before despite his sharp tongue. In any case, she has been extremely calm and steady; I think that it’s a good thing.
If the two of them continue treating each other with respect, they will develop feelings for each other sooner or later.
So, yes, she has been very normal.
Ye Moxuan’s gaze turned frosty. It’s exactly because she is acting too normal that makes it abnormal.
“Normal?” Ye Moxuan asked in irritation.
Xiao Su was stumped for a bit before asking Ye Moxuan instead, “Has she been abnormal?”
Ye Moxuan rolled his eyes before commenting, “Pea-brain.” He then narrowed his eyes dangerously and decided to ignore Xiao Su. It seems that it’s useless to talk to Xiao Su.
After that, Xiao Su became immersed in his thoughts for quite a while before he broke the silence. “Young Master Ye, are you angry that Second Young Lady has not been arguing with you?”
Ye Moxuan was rendered speechless by his question.
Xiao Su rubbed his chin while analyzing the situation. “After all, she used to always argue and fight with you, but it seems like she has been going against you less recently, Young Master Ye. Is that why you are not used to it?”
“You can shut up now,” Ye Moxuan snapped.
Xiao Su was bewildered, and he couldn’t quite figure out what he said wrongly. However, since Ye Moxuan ordered him to stop speaking, he remained silent, but he felt rather confused. Hence, he started wondering if he should go ahead and hint Shen Qi about this.
Xiao Su took the chance when Shen Qi was at the pantry to prepare some coffee to slip into the pantry before asking her about recent events.
“Second Young Lady… what is wrong with you recently?”
“What?” Shen Qi was stirring her coffee, looking serene.
“You seem like a completely different person, Second Young Lady.”
Shen Qi froze when she heard that, but she smiled with a reply. “Isn’t this great? Being calm and steady every day agrees with me.”
At least I will no longer feel sad or angry over nothing.
“Calm and steady?” Xiao Su glanced at her, and he thought he saw a trace of emotion under the depths of her icy-cold gaze. However, he wondered if he merely imagined it, and so he shook his head to clear his mind before asking Shen Qi, “Second Young Lady, are you truly calm and steady, or is this just a superficial pretense?”
Shen Qi asked, “Xiao Su, what are you trying to say?”
Xiao Su raised both his hands up while explaining himself hastily after hearing her say that. “Nothing. I was just trying to remind you, Second Young Lady. Young Master Ye… treats you very differently than others, and I also hope that the two of you would be together. That is why—”
Before he could finish his sentence, surprise flashed across Shen Qi’s eyes because she remembered clearly that Xiao Su had always been polite to her, but he had never liked her as a person. In fact, he even advised her to never ask about things which did not involve her.
“I still have a lot of work. Besides, I need to send this coffee to Young Master Ye. I’ll leave for now.” Shen Qi did not intend to explore this topic with him. Hence, after making some small talk, she left the pantry right away.
After she was gone, Xiao Su grabbed his head between his hands, and he looked quite upset.

In the past, it was undeniable that Xiao Su did not like Shen Qi. However, after he got to know her, he realized that she was rather pitiful because her former husband was a playboy, and she even signed a contract with Young Master Ye just to ensure the safety of her unborn child.
Furthermore, he witnessed her attitude toward Young Master Ye along the way.
He knew instinctively that she was not the type of greedy, vain gold-digger they all assumed she was.
Everything she had been through was not her own doing; it was just her fate, or perhaps… she was blind to the truth.

In the office.
Ye Moxuan sat in his wheelchair while looking at the scene below him through the full-length window. His dark eyes seemed to be looking downward, but if one were to look at his eyes carefully, it was obvious that Ye Moxuan’s eyes were not focused.
He felt as if he was becoming less normal ever since Shen Qi started acting like a normal person. He tried to provoke her on a daily basis, but each time, her reaction was so mild that he felt like he was acting in vain, and nothing he did would cause a reaction from her.
Knock-knock—
The office door opened, and Shen Qi entered with a cup of coffee in her hands. She looked straight ahead while walking toward his office desk before placing his coffee on the table. “Young Master Ye, here is your coffee. I’m leaving now if you do not have further instructions for me,” she uttered with a calm tone.
With that, Shen Qi turned around and walked toward the door.
Ye Moxuan glanced at her from the corners of his eyes. She is keeping it professional at work, it seems.
“Stand right there.”
Shen Qi came to a halt before turning around to face him. “Young Master Ye, is there anything I can do for you?”
“Come over here.”
Shen Qi’s eyelashes fluttered when she heard that, but she stood rooted to the spot without moving forward. After a while, she repeated her question. “Young Master Ye, is there anything I can help you with? Go ahead because I’m listening.”
“I asked you to come over. Do you have to start with your nonsense?” Ye Moxuan asked coldly while squinting at her menacingly.
Shen Qi looked up to meet his gaze, and she realized that Ye Moxuan looked like a wild beast eyeing its prey. His gaze is exactly like that of a wild best. Recently… I’ve been acting so calm and agreeable around him. Who would have expected that today… Is he about to lose his temper again?
Shen Qi had no choice but to walk to him slowly. “Young Master Ye, I’m here. Is there anything I can do for you?”
