“Oh, is that so?” Han Xueyou cocked her head to the side. The sunrays accentuated her slender neck, making it look especially beautiful. “In that case… why don’t you come along with us for a second meal? You’ll just have to eat some.”
For some reason, Shen Qi glanced at Ye Moxuan instinctively.
Ye Moxuan looked indifferent, but he cocked an eyebrow at her when he saw her looking his way. Shen Qi pursed her lips, and she felt anger boiling in her chest.
“It’s fine. You guys should go ahead. I can’t eat more.”
“Huh?” Han Xueyou looked at her regretfully. “Qi, are you really not coming along with us?”
“I am not going. You guys go ahead,” Shen Qi answered before lowering her head to focus on entering the data on the computer. It seemed as if she wanted to ignore them, and so Han Xueyou turned to glance at Ye Moxuan helplessly. “Young Master Ye, Qi is—”
“That’s fine. Let’s go.” Ye Moxuan’s gaze darkened, and his aura felt icy and intimidating.
“Alright,” Han Xueyou answered with a nod before looking back at Shen Qi. “In that case, wait for us to return, Qi. I will bring some snacks back for you.”
With that, she walked happily to Ye Moxuan to push his wheelchair from behind. The two of them were soon out of Shen Qi’s sight.
After they left, the pen in Shen Qi’s hand fell onto the floor with a dull thud.
She was lost in her thoughts while biting her lower lip as if she mumbled to herself, “Qi, you must not overthink. Xueyou is not that type of woman. They are merely having a meal together because it is lunchtime now. Besides… she invited you, and you were the one who rejected her!”
That’s right, I rejected her.
But why did I reject her? It clearly bothers me, and I wanted to go so badly, so why did I reject her?
Shen Qi wasn’t quite sure why she did that, and she was now very irritated. If she had known that it would bother her so much, she would have agreed and tagged along when Han Xueyou asked her earlier.
“Sigh.” Shen Qi sighed dejectedly while slumping on the desk weakly.
Ding—
The elevator doors opened, causing Shen Qi to tighten her back reflexively. Why are they back so soon?
Shen Qi was still slumped against her desk when she heard hurried footsteps across the room.
Xiao Su walked toward her in a hurry, and he seemed rather furious when he saw Shen Qi slumped on her desk.
“Second Young Lady, why are you still here?”
“Huh?” Shen Qi looked up, and she was surprised to see Xiao Su standing in front of her. Why is he here?
Furthermore, for some reason, Xiao Su switched from calling me Assistant Shen to Second Young Lady. I… noticed that subtle change just now.
“Were you here earlier? Do you know that Young Master Ye has headed out for a meal, Second Young Lady?”
Shen Qi kept quiet for a while before nodding again. “Yes, I do.”
“In that case, what is happening, Second Young Lady?”
“What do you mean, what is happening?” Shen Qi asked unhappily before pursing her lips.
Xiao Su licked his lips and came closer to her before hissing at her through clenched teeth., “Second Young Lady, didn’t you see whom Young Master Ye was with when he went down earlier?”
“Xueyou,” replied Shen Qi promptly.
“In that case, why are you still in the mood to sit still here, Second Young Lady?”
Shen Qi was rendered speechless by his question.
She did not answer Xiao Su, and she gave him an odd look. Why does he look just like Yan earlier? He looks as if he is on her side.
Xiao Su started explaining. “Second Young Lady, with all due respect, you are Young Master Ye’s wife after all, so how can you not be bothered that Young Master Ye left with Miss Han for a meal? Aren’t you afraid that Miss Han might snatch Young Master Ye away one day?”
Xiao Su forced himself to finish the last part of the sentence because he wasn’t sure of the horrible consequences that awaited him after saying such a horrendous thing. However, he knew that if he weren’t direct, it would be terrible if he ended up with another person as his Second Young Lady.
There is nothing likable about Han Xueyou; although she has a good family and looks rather pretty… she is Second Young Lady’s best friend, after all. I find it most despicable for women to inflict harm upon their best friends, and I honestly loathe that.
Shen Qi’s expression changed drastically when she heard that, and she frowned deeply at Xiao Su. “Xiao Su, do you know what you’re talking about?”
“Of course, I do. Second Young Lady, haven’t you realized? Recently, don’t you think that Miss Han has been rather too close to Young Master Ye? Besides… to be blunt, she has been seducing Young Master Ye all along.”
“That is impossible!” Shen Qi refuted Xiao Su without a second thought.
“Why is it impossible?” Xiao Su countered stubbornly. “I am a man, and I can clearly tell whether or not she is seducing Young Master Ye. Do you think that you are more familiar with the issues of women seducing men, Second Young Lady?”
Shen Qi was at a loss for words after listening to him, and she uttered after regaining her composure, “Although I am not as familiar as you are regarding matters involving women seducing men, you shouldn’t forget that I am a woman too. I know when a woman is seducing a man. Furthermore, I know Xueyou better than you do, and she is not the sort of woman who would do such a thing.”
“In that case, why did you look listless while slumping against your desk, Second Young Lady?”
“I—”
“Isn’t it because you were bothered witnessing Young Master Ye and Miss Han together? Alright, then. Even if Miss Han does not have such intentions, don’t you think that you should take some precautionary measures, Second Young Lady?”
Precautionary measures?
Xueyou has been my friend for years, and if I were to be wary of her as if she’s a common thief, wouldn’t I be betraying her trust?
“Second Young Lady, I’ve done my part, and there is absolutely no harm for you to be cautious with her. If you do not take any precautionary measures against her, and it turns out that she is truly seducing Young Master Ye, you’d lose her as a friend.”
Shen Qi slumped against her desk once again like a deflated balloon before mumbling, “Alright, Xiao Su, please stop talking. I trust Xueyou wouldn’t do such a thing. Go on with your work—Eh, what are you doing?
Before she could finish her sentence, Xiao Su grabbed her wrists before dragging her up by force. Xiao Su did not wait for an answer as he dragged her straight to the elevator.
“Xiao Su, what are you doing? Let me go!” She had a horrible feeling. Is Xiao Su taking me to meet with Ye Moxuan and Han Xueyou? I have already rejected joining them for a meal; wouldn’t it be an embarrassment for me if I were to show up now?
Shen Qi struggled aggressively when she thought of that. “Xiao Su, let go of me right now. You should go ahead if you want to stop them. Don’t drag me along, for you are the one who suspects her, not me.”
“But Second Young Lady, you are Young Master Ye’s wife. Who else should go if not you?”
“Whoever wants to go should go ahead because I’m not going.”
Ding—
The doors of the elevator opened, and Xiao Su almost succeeded in dragging Shen Qi in. However, she reached out and grabbed the sides of the elevator while resisting him with all she had.
“Second Young Lady, just treat this as if I am begging you, please. Come with me.”
“I don’t want to,” replied Shen Qi while shaking her head. However, Xiao Su was too strong for her, and he reached out and dragged her into the elevator using brute force.
The elevator doors closed once again, and Shen Qi realized that her arm was bruised.
Xiao Su scratched his head awkwardly while explaining in embarrassment, “I am so sorry, Second Young Lady. I did not do that on purpose, I just… got ahead of myself.”
There’s such a large bruise, and here he is, telling me that he did not do that on purpose?
