When Shen Qi reached the ground floor, she caught sight of Ye Moxuan’s car. Xiao Su was there and he greeted her when he saw her coming out. “Assistant Shen!”
At first, Shen Qi still treated him rather nicely but because she was not on speaking terms with Ye Moxuan lately, she no longer put on a friendly face at the sight of Xiao Su. She merely gave him a brief glance before walking past him and left.
Rubbing his head, Xiao Su wondered what he had done wrong.
Shortly after that, Ye Moxuan reached the ground floor too. Xiao Su approached him with a smiley face but in the end, Ye Moxuan did not even look at him and just rolled his wheelchair past him.
Have the two bumped into each other and got into an argument again?
On the next day, Shen Qi applied for leave and went to the hospital for a body check-up.
When her medical report was ready, the doctor informed her that she was having fetal malposition and advised her to get more rest and avoid being too tired.
After keeping the doctor’s words in mind, Shen Qi kept away the report and walked out.
When she reached the entrance of the hospital, she suddenly caught sight of someone who looked familiar. She tried to make out the person’s face and found that she was Su Jiu from Han Group. Wasn’t she Han Qing’s secretary? As Shen Qi had a meal with her before, she thought it was appropriate to greet her.
Hence, she walked over and tapped Su Jiu’s shoulder.
Su Jiu turned around and stuttered, “Shen… Qi?”
“It’s really you, Secretary Su.” Shen Qi flashed her a smile. “Why are you here? Are you feeling unwell?”
Su Jiu was surprised to see Shen Qi. After all, she had been gathering information about her lately and she felt her sudden appearance right in front of her somewhat mystical.
“It’s not me.” Su Jiu put on a subtle grin. “It’s President Han.”
Su Jiu could not gauge what kind of feelings Han Qing had toward Shen Qi. Despite asking her to collect information about Shen Qi, President Han had not revealed to her about his purpose of doing so. He appeared to be rather concerned about Shen Qi but it did not seem like his feelings toward her were of a romantic nature.
If it wasn’t romantic, Su Jiu could not understand why Han Qing cared about Shen Qi so much. Is it merely because she is Miss Han Xueyou’s friend?
But he doesn’t care about his own sister that much either…
It’s unreasonable and simply illogical!
Su Jiu could not get the answer even after much speculation. Perhaps… Shen Qi would be able to offer her an answer today.
“President Han?” Shen Qi looked rather shocked. She then asked, “Is he here too?”
“Yes, President Han is feeling unwell so he came here for a check-up. I’m helping him to collect his medicines.”
“I see.” Suddenly, an idea hit Shen Qi as she added, “Your boss has been working too diligently. You have to ask him to take care of his health.”
Su Jiu put on a subtle grin when she heard her. “If President Han himself could hear what Miss Shen has said, I’m sure he would be delighted.”
“What?” Shen Qi was stunned for a moment as she believed she had heard her wrongly.
“Nothing. President Han is just out there so why don’t you come with me and say hi?”
Before Shen Qi had time to think about her offer, Su Jiu had already taken hold of her hand and dragged her outside. She widened her eyes in surprise as she allowed herself to be dragged forward and finally came to her senses when she reached a car.
Su Jiu knocked on the window. As soon as the window was rolled down, Han Qing’s profound eyes just happened to fall on Shen Qi’s face.
“President Han, I’ve bumped into Miss Shen. Could we offer her a ride?”
After she said that, Su Jiu could detect that Han Qing’s eyes had turned somewhat sterner as though he was blaming her for taking it upon herself to invite Shen Qi. Su Jiu bent at her waist slightly, not daring to speak.
Sensing his imposing aura too, Shen Qi cast an awkward glance at Su Jiu before saying softly, “I’m just here to say hi. Since I have to go somewhere nearby to get some of my stuff done, I shouldn’t hitch a ride with President Han. I’ve got to go.”
“Just get in the car.”
Just as Shen Qi was about to turn around and leave, Han Qing’s indifferent voice was heard. Her pace came to a halt as she gaped at him in shock, having no idea what exactly he had in mind.
Seconds ago, he still appeared stern and because of that, Shen Qi did not want to get Su Jiu implicated. However, he had actually asked her to get in the car seconds later.
Knowing that she had guessed her boss’s intention correctly, Su Jiu’s drooping face revealed a faint grin as she urged Shen Qi who was still standing there in a daze. “Miss Shen, please get in the car.”
She helped Shen Qi with the door and only then did Shen Qi come to her senses. Just as she wanted to wave her hands to turn the gesture down, she heard Han Qing utter a word with an icy face, “Speed.”
Su Jiu knew that was the precursor of his oncoming anger. Not daring to delay any further, she straightaway shoved Shen Qi into the car.
Shen Qi was speechless.
Thump!
“Get going.”
The car was driven away from the hospital as Shen Qi, who was forced to get in the car, looked bewildered.
Was she actually hitching a ride?
But she had no idea where they were going.
As the air-conditioning inside the car was adjusted to a very low temperature, Shen Qi thought it was freezing after a while. She was also wearing a sleeveless dress so she could not help but rub her arms as she shrunk into herself.
Han Qing’s eyes landed on her face.
Shen Qi was on pins and needles at once.
The man’s eyes looked very stern. Under his gaze, she felt he was giving off a brother-like feeling and he exuded a domineering aura without getting angry.
He averted his gaze and instructed in an icy voice, “Adjust the air-conditioning to a higher temperature.”
The driver acknowledged his instruction and immediately adjusted the temperature of the air-conditioning. Su Jiu who sat next to the driver was shocked deep down inside when she noticed Han Qing’s actions.
When did Han Qing ever care about the emotions of other people?
Isn’t it always the other way round all these while? It seems like Shen Qi is indeed very important.
“Where are you heading to?” asked Han Qing suddenly. As Shen Qi was in a daze, she was pulled back to reality by his question.
At first, she wanted to tell him that she was going home but she realized that the car was heading in a completely different direction from Ye Residence. She said instead, “I will get down at the junction ahead.”
With a frown, Han Qing asked with slight annoyance, “Are you going to Ye Group?”
Shen Qi replied, “Yes.”
Being at her wit’s end, she could only say so.
“Ha.” Han Qing let out a sneer. “You are dressed casually today. Since you have already hitched a ride, just tell us your destination directly.”
“Exactly, Miss Shen. It doesn’t matter because President Han is on leave today too.”
Shen Qi said, “In that case, please send me to the mall at Xuyin Road. I need to handle some matters there.”
Su Jiu thought of something and said, “The mall is a property owned by Ye Group, you…”
Following a glance from Han Qing, she immediately shut her mouth.
“Go to Xuyin Road.”
“Yes, Mr. Han.”
The driver made a U-turn.
Shen Qi grinned subtly and looked at Han Qing gratefully. “Thank you, President Han.”
Han Qing’s lips moved slightly as though he was about to say something but stopped himself in the end. After a while, he asked instead, “Is Miss Shen very close to Xueyou?”
At the mention of Xueyou, Shen Qi felt the distance between Han Qing and her close up a great deal and the expression on her face became much softer.
“Yes, we are best friends.”
Best friends? Han Qing narrowed his eyes as he pressed on, “How close are you two? Would you girls share secrets with each other?”
Shen Qi was slightly taken aback by his question and she was baffled as to the reason why he was asking. Looking at it from another perspective, she reckoned he was just concerned about his sister. Nodding her head before elaborating, “Yes, we do share secrets with each other. President Han, I know Xueyou just had a reunion with the Han family. She really suffered a lot before that.”
