Zhong Chufeng sighed softly.
“She only cares about eating, sleeping, and Yishu; she never notices me. But luckily, Yishu only sees her as a little sister. Otherwise, I fear they might actually end up together.”
Meng Kefei perked up.
“He only sees Yuanyuan as a little sister?”
“Of course. They grew up together; what else would he see her as? Yishu doesn’t like little princesses anyway. He prefers mature and beautiful ones—the domineering sort. Did you know?”
“Domineering women?”
“Yeah, women like that are really charismatic. A lot of guys like women like that.”
Just then, her expression turned gloomy.
“Wait a minute, Kefei. Why are you so interested in his business? Do you like Yishu?”
She started blushing immediately and became flustered. “Chufeng, d-don’t say such nonsense. H-How can I—”
“Okay, stop denying it now. If you don’t like him, why are you so nervous?”
“H-How am I nervous? I just don’t think you’re making sense.”
She frantically tried to explain herself as he stared at her. Her face turned redder and redder under his gaze and she eventually walked ahead in a hurry.
However, he caught up to her in no time and said casually, “Don’t be embarrassed. Yishu is an outstanding guy. So many girls have a crush on him that gaining one or losing one wouldn’t make much of a difference at all. It’s normal.”
Do a lot of girls like him? Well, it’s true; he is an outstanding guy. There must be a lot of people interested in him.
“How about this? Help me look out for Yuanyuan at school and let me know if anything happens. I can let you in on Yishu’s hobbies.”
He wanted to negotiate with her, but when she thought of her own life, the light in her eyes quickly dimmed.
“Nah. I-I don’t like him.”
“Really?”
“Chufeng, don’t say things like that from now on. To me, my studies are more important. I can’t get distracted.”
Her family was so poor that all she could do now was focus on her studies to have a chance at being better than other people. Or she would have to spend the rest of her life in the gutter whilst looking at the people who were at the top of the pyramid.
“Hey, you’re right. To your future self, your studies are still more important. You should focus on that first. If you think about it again in the future, just let me know. What I told you just now will always be valid.”
Always be valid?
The word ‘always’ took her by surprise and she took a careful look at him.
I keep feeling like he’s very wishy-washy. How long could a person like him like someone for? Who knows? He might change his mind after some time.
She did not say anything to him and headed back together with the rest of them.
The next day, everyone went out together to watch the sunrise. Because they were staying at the villa, they did not have to wake up extremely early. They slept in until it was about time, then they set out as a group.
When Meng Kefei came out, she saw Tang Yuanyuan fidgeting in one spot and rubbing her eyes groggily. She had clearly just gotten out of bed.
Seeing her like that, Meng Kefei was worried that she might fall over and wanted to go support her when a hand suddenly grabbed hold of Tang Yuanyuan. Her steps halted because the person who was holding on to her was none other than Yuchi Yishu.
With him by Tang Yuanyuan’s side, Meng Kefei did not go to her anymore.
After being held, Tang Yuanyuan looked up at the tall and thin Yuchi Yishu and greeted, “Morning, Yishu.”
She was still half asleep and her eyes were out of focus. After she greeted him, she leaned against him with her eyes closed and mumbled, “I’m so sleepy, Yishu.”
“Sleepy? Do you want to continue sleeping?”
Yuchi Yishu’s voice was especially gentle.
“No.” She shook her head. “I want to watch the sunrise.”
“You’re sleepy but you also want to watch the sunrise. What exactly do you want to do?” There was a slight tease in his voice. He had already guessed what she wanted to propose to him, but he did not want to say it himself.
As she leaned against him, she was completely oblivious to being fooled. “Carry me.”
At that moment, he kneeled and coaxed, “Get on.”
“Thanks, Yishu!” Tang Yuanyuan climbed onto his back in delight and her little hands wrapped around his neck. When she was sprawled over his back, she closed her eyes in contentment. I can sleep a bit longer now.
Even though it only took fifteen minutes to get to the observatory area, every minute was important to a sleepy person. Even if it was one minute and not fifteen, it was still one minute longer that they could sleep for.
Little Sprout was also sleepy, but she was more reserved. She did not make a fuss and just ran over to Meng Kefei innocently.
“Fei, are you sleepy?”
Meng Kefei was also sleepy because she did not get a wink of sleep the night before. She was unable to sleep all night, and when sleep finally took over, it was time to wake up. Currently, her eyelids were fighting to stay open.
But she still smiled at Little Sprout and replied, “I’m okay.”
“Hmph. I’m so sleepy. If it weren’t for the beautiful sunrise, I really want to go back and sleep until the sky gets dark again.”
Little Sprout was still young and was extra innocent and sincere. She even looked a little foolish when she talked. Meng Kefei could not help but feel like she and Yuanyuan were just too similar since neither of them had any hidden intentions. “You can lean on me if you’re sleepy. If you get some shut-eye on the way there, you’ll feel better once we arrive.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“You’re so nice, Fei.”
After Little Sprout thanked Meng Kefei, she hugged her arm closely and actually fell asleep on her shoulder. The both of them had just met each other, but that intimate gesture made it seem like they had known each other for a long time.
Simple-minded and worry-free. Days like these are the best.
Meng Kefei sighed on the inside.
Fifteen minutes later, they finally arrived at the observatory area.
Tang Yuanyuan rubbed her eyes when she was put down.
“Are we here, Yishu?”
“Yes.” Yuchi Yishu took off the coat he was wearing and spread it over the ground. “Sit here. The sun should rise soon.”
At the moment, the sky was a patch of gray and the grass on the road had drops of dew on them. It seemed like they would have to sit for a while longer. She sat down on his coat and looked at him.
“What about you, Yishu?”
“I don’t mind,” he replied, then found a random place to sit. The group of guys was like older brothers to the two girls, and they all took extra care of them. Han Zixi also took off his coat and laid it on the ground. “This is for you, Little Sprout.”
Little Sprout was still sleeping as she leaned on Meng Kefei, but her eyes immediately opened when she heard someone call her name.
