After the military training, everyone was one shade tanner. It happened that the second day was Monday, so they did not have time to rest. When they were back at the school, it was close to dusk. The moment Tang Yuanyuan retrieved her phone, the first thing she did was to text Yuchi Yishu.
She received a text from him right when she picked up her phone. ‘Come to the school gate. I have something for you.’
Tang Yuanyuan instantly shoved her phone back under her pillow and dashed out of the room.
In the room, Zhang Xiaolu and Yuan Yuehan saw her leaving. They exchanged a glance and rushed over to grab Tang Yuanyuan’s phone but was stopped by Meng Kefei, who had flipped over to lie on the pillow. “Don’t touch her stuff.”
“Meng Kefei, get out of my way.”
“It’s you again. Are you dead set on going against us?”
Zhang Xiaolu grabbed Meng Kefei’s long hair and looked as if she wanted to give Meng Kefei death. Meng Kefei’s face was facing upward, but there was no fear in her eyes. “Hit me then. Isn’t your motive to get closer to Yuanyuan’s brother? It so happened that I have known her brother since an early time. If you hit me one more time, I will tell him that both of you are promiscuous!”
“How dare you?” Zhang Xiaolu raised her hand and almost slapped Meng Kefei, but she was held back in time by Yuan Yuehan beside her.
“What are you doing?” She glared unhappily at Yuan Yuehan but was pulled to a side instead. “Didn’t you learn anything from the past incident? Are you going to hit her again this time? If you hit her, you’ll only make yourself look suspicious to the others. It’s effortless for her to sue you. Plus, she’s very close with Tang Yuanyuan. What would we do once she started talking bad about us in front of Tang Yuanyuan or her brother?”
Upon hearing that, Zhang Xiaolu finally calmed down, but not before turning around to give Meng Kefei a spiteful glare. “I’ll let it slide this time.”
On the other side, Tang Yuanyuan was running, and she was getting closer to the school gate. From afar, she saw Yuchi Yishu leaning on the gate with a bag of stuff in his hands.
He leaned coolly at the entrance. When he lowered his head, his bangs fell across his forehead, and his eyelashes gently covered his eyes that now looked even darker and deeper than before. The exquisite lines of his side profile looked like the strokes of art under the brush of an artist who carefully drew his subject.
“Yishu!” Tang Yuanyuan exclaimed happily and ran over to give him a hug with her arms around his waist.
An average person would not have taken that impact well. However, Yuchi Yishu had a strong body. Even after he was hit suddenly by the young girl, he did not move one step backward, standing still on the ground.
He took a glance at Tang Yuanyuan’s head and reached out to caress her hair. “Why did you run that fast?”
Tang Yuanyuan looked up and met his eyes.
“Did you get sunburnt?”
When she lifted her head again, Yuchi Yishu noticed that there was a mark on her face. Although the wound started to form a scar, the length of the injury made him squint threateningly. “What happened?”
“Huh?” Tang Yuanyuan silently exclaimed and reflexively covered up her face. “I accidentally scratched it.”
“It was an accident?”
“Yeah.”
Yuchi Yishu grabbed her wrist and moved her hand away while he approached her to examine the wound carefully. A moment later, he turned cold in anger. “Who did it?”
Tang Yuanyuan blinked at him but did not reply. She was too fearful of telling him because she could still remember that when she was young, her classmate bullied her by flipping her skirt. The unlucky boy ended up being thrown into a water tank nearby the school by Yuchi Yishu. Thankfully, the water level in the tank was at the calf-level.
Then, Yuchi Yishu forced the boy to sit in the water tank for an afternoon and warned him that if he dared to pull the same prank on girls, he would be in more trouble. From then on, the boy behaved properly and dared not make trouble for anyone.
Tang Yuanyuan remained silent because she was worried that Yuchi Yishu would do the same to Zhang Xiaolu.
“Are you not going to tell me?” He chuckled in a low voice. “Wow, you have now learned to keep secrets from your brother. Do you think that you’re a grownup now and there’s no need to care about my opinion anymore?”
“It’s not that, Yishu!” Upon hearing his accusation, she immediately panicked. “I just don’t want to worry you. What happened was that they had started a fight. I went up to pull them away from each other and accidentally got scratched on the face.”
“A fight?”
Tang Yuanyuan told him everything about the incident that had happened over the military training. After hearing that, he squinted his eyes in suspicion. “Your sunscreen was stolen?”
Tang Yuanyuan nodded obediently. “Yes. I could not find them all of a sudden. The two sunscreens were gone. I didn’t lose them on purpose; I really could not find them anymore. But Fei was very nice to me and shared hers with me. That was why I did not get sunburnt.”
“Okay.” After listening to her explanation, he coolly reminded her, “Next time, don’t get involved in others’ fight.”
“But Fei fought with others because of me. I felt bad when I saw her being beaten up. I definitely had to break them up.”
“Did you succeed then?”
“No.”
“Not only that, you got yourself hurt. Right?”
Tang Yuanyuan immediately lost her confidence and could not even mutter a word. Instead, she stood there pouting and replied to him pitifully, “Even if I get hurt, I am still willing to do it because Fei is my only good friend. I am fine with getting bullied, but I cannot see her being bullied too.”
“Next time, you should be informing the teacher instead. Aim for the weakness. Think about what the two are most worried about. You’re all students. Alright?”
At first, she could not follow his thought process, but when she realized it, her eyes brightened. “Got it, Yishu. Next time, I will do that. By the way, Yishu, what did you bring for me?”
Yuchi Yishu handed her the bag. “My mom asked me to hand it to you. They’re all snacks and essential items. Take it and get inside. Don’t run around at night and don’t use the phone for no good reason. Focus on your studies.”
“Wow, tell Aunt Muzi that I say thanks.”
“You should head in now.”
“Okay! Bye, Yishu!”
After that, he kept staring at her back until she disappeared from his vision. Only then was he willing to leave.
Right when he boarded the bus, he received a call from Zhong Chufeng. “Damn it, Yishu. Where are you now? Come back quick. That woman came to stalk you again today.”
Hearing that, Yuchi Yishu frowned slightly. “Which one?”
“Who could it be? It’s the school beauty Wen Jingrou. She was dressed very prettily and is now in the dorm. She said that she wanted to invite you to her birthday party.”
“I won’t go. Ask her to leave.”
“Damn it, Yishu. We asked her to leave, but she refused to. She’s now lying on your bed!”

Zhong Chufeng pouted. “I advise you to get off his bed soon. He is a clean freak. You’re playing with fire. Be careful.”
