Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1512

It was late in the night when Luo Huimei was still looking after the two children at the Han residence. After drinking their milk formula, the two children fell asleep. Luo Huimei then gave Yan a call.

Yan’s voice sounded nasal over the phone. It was obvious that she had been crying. “It’s fine now, Mom. The doctor said he just has a minor concussion and some cuts and bruises. He will be fine after some rest.”

“That’s good. Since the doctor said there’s no problem, don’t worry too much, okay? Why don’t you come home tonight and rest? I’ll have your dad pick you up, and I’ll keep watch at the hospital.”

“You don’t have to do that, Mom.” Yan sat on the long bench at the hospital and shook her head with the phone pressed against her ear. “I’ll keep watch here. It’s tiring enough to look after the kids. You should rest earlier.” When the call ended, Yan closed her eyes wearily and leaned back.

Han Muzi quickly went to her aid. “Are you okay? Why don’t you go home and rest for the night? Moxuan and I will stay here.”

After the accident happened, Yan called Han Muzi, and the latter immediately arrived at the hospital with Ye Moxuan. Upon hearing what Han Muzi said, Ye Moxuan also looked at Yan. “Yeah, Muzi and I will keep watch here. It won’t be a problem.”

“Thanks, guys,” Yan said but still shook her head. “But I want to stay here until he wakes up.”

Yan was scared out of her wits today. Until now, her injured ankle was still untreated. She kept waiting at the hospital until she was informed that he was okay before she started to feel more at ease.

“You can stay here until he wakes up. We won’t stop you. But don’t you think you should still get your ankle treated first?” Han Muzi suggested. “If you don’t get it treated now, Qing will be so worried when he wakes up and sees you like this. You’ll add worry to an already injured patient.”

Yan figured she had a point. “Okay then, I’ll get my ankle treated.”

After that, Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan took Yan to get her ankle treated then brought her back again.

Meanwhile, Ye Moxuan could not bear to see his wife out and about. He pulled her to one side and said softly, “I called the driver. When he gets here later, you should get in the car and go home. I’ll stay here and keep her company for tonight.”

“No.” Han Muzi instantly shook her head. “How can I let you and Yan stay here by yourselves?”

He could not help but raise his eyebrows at that. “What do you mean? Do you think I’ll do anything with any other woman than you? Or do you think I’m staying here because I have an ulterior motive?”

She almost choked on her own spit as she listened to him. “What the heck are you talking about?” Speechless, she reached forward to pinch his arm. “What are you thinking? I’m not letting the two of you stay here together because I’m scared it’ll make her feel uneasy. She’ll be watching over her husband all night while you’re just there at the side. How would that look? I’ll stay here with her instead. You go home and look after Little Sprout.”

“No.” He quickly refused. “How can I not be worried after leaving my own wife at the hospital all night? We have housekeepers at home. The children will be fine. I’ll stay here with you.”

In the end, both of them stayed at the hospital together. While Yan kept watch inside the hospital room, Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan kept watch outside. The air got colder as the night grew deeper, so Ye Moxuan took off his coat right away to put over Han Muzi, then he held her in his arms. She was so cold that her lips were turning slightly pale. His heart ached at the sight of that, and he scolded in a low voice, “Is this getting harder to bear now? I told you to go home earlier but you didn’t want to. You wanted to stay here and endure this cold. Go and stay with her inside. There’s a blanket and a bed. You can squeeze in with her.”

Han Muzi’s face was turning white from the cold, but she still looked at him and asked, “What about you? You’ll be here by yourself if I go inside. Won’t you be lonely?”

“What? I’m a man. I don’t need you to worry about me. Your man is strong and healthy. This bit of cold can’t possibly get me.”

Hugging his slender waist, she buried her face in his embrace and mumbled, “I don’t want to go in. If we hugged each other tighter, it might not be so cold anymore.”

Hug each other tighter? That sounded like a good suggestion, but the cold air was coming from all directions. The hospital rooms were not like hotel rooms. Booking a hospital room just to sleep in was using up resources. Moreover, there was a shortage of hospital rooms lately so there were no extra rooms available. He wanted her to stay with him. The both of them hugged each other a bit tighter, but he still could not bear to see her endure the cold. Thus, he could not agree. “Hug? Just hurry up and go inside to sleep. After you go in, you can give me my coat back.”

“You’re so petty. Turns out you just wanted your coat back, and you still call yourself strong and healthy. Such a liar!”

He did not argue with her, as he worried that she would have to endure the cold longer if he said one more sentence. Therefore, he got his coat back from her then pushed her into the hospital room. “Go on and rest.”

Once she got pushed inside, the door to the hospital room was closed. Yan looked up at that moment and saw Han Muzi walking in. Then, she got up and went to her side. “Muzi, why are you guys still here?”

“Silly Yan. How can we rest assured if we left you, a girl, here by yourself overnight? Plus, Qing is my brother and Moxuan is his brother-in-law. We have a reason to be here so don’t overthink it.”

“Even so, I don’t want you guys to stay here and suffer with me. It will be a long night. I can stay here by myself.”

“Okay, that’s enough. We’ll take turns, then. I’ll sleep for a bit now, then you can sleep for a bit at midnight; we’ll keep switching. Moxuan will be fine outside.” Han Muzi quickly decided how things were going to go.

After seeing her persistence, Yan did not say anything else. She sat at the side of the hospital bed feeling anxious. As she looked at Han Qing’s pale face, she started to feel unsettled. He was fine before. How did this happen? Is it because he hasn’t been resting well these days, so he got into an accident while he was driving? Fortunately, it was only a minor concussion. If it had been anything more severe, what would Yan and her two children do?

Despite it being a minor concussion, Yan was still scared out of her wits. She had been extremely alarmed before, but now that she was watching him sleep peacefully and his breathing was stable, she started to feel herself relax a little. Nothing can happen to you, she thought silently to herself.

It was noon when Han Qing woke up the next day. Han Muzi had gone home to rest while Luo Huimei made some food and brought it to the hospital. She and Yan had a quiet conversation inside the hospital room. “He must have been exhausted all this time. How else could he have driven into the railing when he was perfectly fine? Like I told you; you should let me help out with the kids. You young people never listen. Since things have turned out this way, do you regret it now? He has to work during the day and take care of the children at night; even a robot needs time to rest.”
