“It’s alright. Children being children, they’ll fall asleep anywhere once they’re sleepy,” Han Muzi chimed in. She couldn’t bear to see Mrs. Tang faulting Tang Yuanyuan just because she fell asleep. After all, Tang Yuanyuan was such a lovely girl that she reminded her of how Little Sprout would be when she grew up in future.
Little Bean trailed behind Tang Yuanyuan as they walked over together.
President Tang and Mrs. Tang were taken aback when they saw Little Bean. Truth be told, with Ye Moxuan and Han Muzi’s genes, it was unsurprising that their children would be good looking as well.
Little Bean was an exact replica of his father.
Mrs. Tang had been unconsciously staring at Little Bean for a while now. It wasn’t until Tang Yuanyuan tugged at her sleeves that she snapped back to reality.
“Mrs. Ye, your son looks so much like President Ye. He’s such a handsome boy; tall and slim too, unlike our Tang Yuanyuan. She still loves to eat even though she is already very chubby.”
“Don’t worry.” Han Muzi laughed. “It’s normal for children to love food. Once she grows up and starts caring about her appearance, she’ll know to watch her food intake.”
“You’re right,” Mrs. Tang agreed. “We’ve disturbed you long enough. It’s about time we got back home now. Mrs. Ye, thank you so much for today. Yuanyuan must have caused so much trouble for the both of you. We’ll take her back home now.”
Han Muzi blinked and smiled gently. “Oh, it’s nothing. They’re children after all, so it wasn’t any trouble for us. Moreover, she got along very well with our Little Bean. If she wants to stay, I can prepare a new room for her.”
What? The Tangs were shocked by her words. For a brief moment, they even thought they were hallucinating. They did not expect Han Muzi to be so friendly, certainly not to the extent of preparing a room for their daughter. Weren’t families like the Yes supposed to look down on people like the Tangs?
How could it be possible that…
“No, it’s okay. We’d hate to impose. Yuanyuan, quickly thank Mrs. Ye and Little Bean.”
Tang Yuanyuan looked at both Han Muzi and Little Bean, politely saying, “Thank you beautiful Mrs. Ye. Thank you Little Bean.”
Such a sweet-talker. Han Muzi thought that Tang Yuanyuan was such a pleasant little child.
“No problem. Remember to visit us more often.”
After a round of goodbyes, the Tang couple finally brought Tang Yuanyuan back home.
In the car, Tang Yuanyuan laid her head on her mom’s lap and told her about her day. The Tang couple listened attentively as she told them how Mrs. Ye had prepared glutinous rice balls for her, and how Little Bean took her out to buy chocolates and cotton candy. She also told them Little Bean brought her out to play some games and how he carried her on his back to the car when she fell asleep.
The couple was taken aback.
“Hubby, I thought Young Master Ye from the Ye Group was difficult to get along with. Everyone seems to be afraid of him. Why does this sound different from the rumors we’ve heard?”
“He is Young Master Ye after all. Have you not seen him today? A person of his status would surely marry a beautiful and generous wife. His children would also be raised well.”
“Is today real? Why do I feel like I’m dreaming?”
“You’re not the only one. It felt unreal for me too when Young Master Ye came to visit me today.”
“Isn’t our Tang Yuanyuan lucky? Look at her, she only knows how to eat. What if she continues on like this even when she’s all grown up? What should we do?”
“She is just a child after all. Let her eat as much as she wants. It wouldn’t be a problem for us to take care of her forever even if she can’t find a partner in the future.”
The couple only had one daughter, and they spoilt her to the core.
Back at the villa, after the guests had left, Han Muzi asked Little Bean, “Are you happy with the playmate that daddy found for you?”
Little Bean was stunned. “Daddy found her?”
“Of course. When he heard that the Tang Group had a lovely daughter, he wanted to introduce the both of you. From the looks of it, I take it you were happy to spend time with her?”
Truth was, Han Muzi could tell that Little Bean was very fond of Tang Yuanyuan, and she wanted to take this opportunity to bring it up since both father and son often did not get along well with each other. She had hoped to ease the tension between them.
However, even before she could finish her sentence, Little Bean’s face turned dark with anger.
Noticing his expression, Han Muzi walked toward Little Bean and reached out to stroke his head. “Please don’t fight with your daddy so often. He really cares for you.”
Displeased, Little Bean pursed his lips. After a beat, he asked, “Mommy, is daddy more important than me?”
Han Muzi froze; she did not know how to answer Little Bean at all.
Little Bean pushed her hand away, and spun on his heel to leave.
Han Muzi had wanted to go after him, but she couldn’t catch up. It was at this moment that she realized her child had really grown up.
Little Bean was tall; coupled with his long legs, he could walk even faster. In a few years, she predicted that Little Bean would even be as tall as her.
After all, he inherited Ye Moxuan’s genes as well, so Han Muzi’s height could never compare to Little Bean’s.
Han Muzi sighed helplessly. It looked like she would need to look for an opportunity to talk with Little Bean tonight.
Little Bean was sitting by his window before going to bed. Although he was gazing out into the night, he was thinking about what happened during the day.
Indeed, he really liked Tang Yuanyuan. Who wouldn’t like such a cute and chubby little girl? Unfortunately, it was his daddy who introduced her. But what did daddy mean by this? Did he think I was too clingy to mommy? What shocked him more was that mommy actually agreed with daddy, and even defended him.
Did Han Muzi think Little Bean was too clingy and annoying? In the past, the mother and son duo depended on each other a lot. She was not like this at all.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
“Little Bean, are you still awake?”
Hearing his mommy’s voice, Little Bean remained silent.
“Can I come in? Mommy would like to have a chat with you.”
Han Muzi asked softly while she stood outside; she did not enter without Little Bean’s permission.
Since Little Bean gave no response at all, she quietly stood outside waiting for him.
A long while passed before she heard a muffled voice.
“Come in.”
With a smile, Han Muzi opened the door and walked in.
“You’re still awake?” Han Muzi closed the door gently. She had already taken a bath and changed into her pajamas. After entering the room, she sat on the bed and beckoned Little Bean over. “Come here.”
Sitting by the window, Little Bean looked at her and asked unhappily, “Why?”
“Come here. It’s been so long since mommy had a chat with you. Come have a chat with mommy today, please?”
Although Little Bean looked uncomfortable, he surrendered the very instant Han Muzi used a soft tone to coax him over. In the end, he shuffled over, unwilling to climb onto the bed.
Han Muzi grabbed his hand and pulled him over.
Little Bean sat awkwardly by her side.
“I want to apologize for today.”
Little Bean lifted his head swiftly. Mommy is here to apologize?
