Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1484

Jiang Xiaobai never expected that Xiao Su would really kiss her.

However, his kiss was gentle. Taking her health into consideration, he only gave her a peck and moved away.

With their faces only inches away, Xiao Su whispered, “Of course I don’t mind it.”

In an attempt to irritate him, Jiang Xiaobai continued, “It was just a peck. You disdain me, right?”

Xiao Su was rendered speechless. The corners of his eyes twitched as he stared at her with squinted eyes.

“You just pretended to want to kiss me. You don’t like me at all.”

If it wasn’t for the fact that her face was pale, and her body was weak, Xiao Su would like her to know that a loose tongue might cause a lot of trouble. Nevertheless, he restrained himself and said with a chuckle, “Irritate me now as you please, but when you recover, you’ll have to pay me back.”

With that, he straightened his body and adjusted the blanket for her. “Sleep now. When the intravenous drip is finished, we can go home.”

Jiang Xiaobai had wanted to irritate him, but he wasn’t fooled. Moreover, after talking so much, she was exhausted again.

She was drained of all her energy after vomiting for a long time. It wasn’t certain how long it would take her to recuperate.

When Xiao Su kissed her just a moment ago, Jiang Xiaobai thought that it was fortunate that she had rinsed her mouth.

If her breath was bad when the kiss happened, it might leave a bad impression on him.

It was because of this reason that Jiang Xiaobai dared irritate him. Otherwise, even if he didn’t mind it, she couldn’t take it herself.

When the intravenous drip was finished, Jiang Xiaobai regained some of her energy, but she remained weak. She thought that she had to act coquettishly to get help, but Xiao Su had already bent over.

“Come on.”

Jiang Xiaobai shot him a glance. His broad shoulders and firm back seemed to be warm and able to hold her weight.

They were going to marry, therefore Jiang Xiaobai never restrained herself and directly fell onto his back as she draped her arms around his neck.

She had put on many clothes, but because she was on intravenous drip a while ago, her hands felt cold when she draped her arms around his neck. However, Xiao Su was okay with it and never showed any sign of feeling cold as he calmly walked out of the hospital with her on his back.

Lying on his back, Jiang Xiaobai suggested, “Don’t tell my parents about the food poisoning.”

Xiao Su nodded and agreed, “Okay.”

“And, after giving it a thought, I don’t think we should tell our parents about our wedding so soon.”

Xiao Su halted his steps upon hearing it as he never expected that she would say such a thing.

Jiang Xiaobai thought he would inquire about the reason, but he just questioned, “You gave it a thought? Weren’t you asleep just now?”

The point he cared about was so strange that Jiang Xiaobai almost couldn’t react to it. It seemed that his mind was different from those of other straight men.

“I gave it a thought when I was asleep.”

“How did you do that?” Puzzled, Xiao Su pursed his lips and looked at her from the corner of his eye. “Were you awake?”

“I was asleep!” Jiang Xiaobai pushed his face and yelled, “Focus on the road so that you won’t make me fall. I’m weak and can’t afford to fall.”

She’s weak? But she was quite forceful when she pushed my face just now. This woman…

Xiao Su’s lips imperceptibly curved into a smile. Holding her more tightly, he focused on the road and said, “You can tell them whenever you want. Whatever the case, I won’t change my mind.”

“Alright, alright.” Jiang Xiaobai interrupted, “You don’t have to repeat your promise, because I trust you. I just feel that a lot has happened tonight, and I’m exhausted. After we go home, I want to take a rest and look for a suitable time to inform our parents about our decision. Surely, we can’t tell them at the last minute.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Xiaobai meant it when she said she was exhausted. Initially, she could talk to him and even bicker with him, but she felt increasingly tired by the minute and eventually dozed off on his back. She wasn’t even aware that she was placed into a car, and when they reached home, Xiao Su carried her up the stairs as she was sound asleep. Her fair skin looked pale as she was sick, but she also looked softer now.

She was rarely seen in such a state, but now she curled up in the bed sheet like a kitten. Feeling uncomfortable, she scowled as her facial features creased together.

Xiao Su took a leave from work and stayed home to keep her company.

Jiang Xiaobai woke up in the afternoon and felt starving, for she hadn’t eaten anything since last night. However, her appetite wasn’t great.

She spaced out on the bed upon waking up. Covered with a quilt, she looked at the chandelier on the ceiling and lost herself in her thoughts.

When Xiao Su pushed the door open and walked in, she turned to him.

“You’re awake.”

Jiang Xiaobai nodded and spread her arms. Knowing what she wanted, Xiao Su took a seat on the bed and pulled her into his arms.

His clothes felt cold. In his embrace, Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t help mumbling, “It’s cold.”

“I’ll take off the coat. My body is warm,” Xiao Su said and wanted to remove his coat, but Jiang Xiaobai tightened the hug and shook her head. “No need. It’ll be warm soon.”

She hadn’t recovered from her sickness yet. Like a kid, she was clingy. Not long after she hugged Xiao Su, she felt sleepy again.

“Sleepy again? Are you not hungry?”

“I’m hungry, but my appetite isn’t great.”

Xiao Su placed his hand on her back and straightened out her hair as he said gently, “I’ve cooked some porridge for you. Get up and have some.”

Porridge?

Jiang Xiaobai shook her head. “No. I want something spicy.”

Xiao Su turned gloomy upon hearing that.

“Don’t you remember how you looked last night? How can you eat spicy food now? I think you got sick last night because you ate too many chilies.”

They already ordered a spicy hot pot at the restaurant last night, but Jiang Xiaobai still demanded a bowl of chili paste. It was so spicy that she started crying, but she insisted on eating it.

Hence, Xiao Su suspected that it was because her stomach couldn’t take all the chilies that she became sick.

Knowing that she was in the wrong, Jiang Xiaobai remained silent.

“Anyway, I don’t want to have porridge. It’s tasteless.”

“Be good.” Xiao Su was torn between tears and laughter as he coaxed her as though she were a kid, “You just woke up, so you need to have a little porridge to fill your stomach. When you recover, you can eat whatever you want.”

Jiang Xiaobai just didn’t want to have porridge, but she was an adult after all. Knowing that she should only eat light food for her stomach to recover, she obediently nodded.
