Later on, he noticed the expression on Xu Yanwan’s face whenever she spoke of the man she loved; he had never seen such an expression before.
The expression on her face was not one of infatuation; instead, it was one of sacred yearning.
This was the first time He Lianjing had ever seen such an expression on a woman’s face who was around him. When she spoke of the guy, the look in her eyes was of yearning and nothing else, for she was purely in love with him.
Initially, He Lianjing deliberately showered Xu Yanwan with presents because he couldn’t get her to give him her heart. However, his romantic overtures became genuine later, for he desperately wanted to be the man she longed for.
His parents had spent their entire lives without knowing what it was like to fall in love, and all the people he’d seen around him valued their interests above all else. Because of that, he desperately wanted to get hold of Xu Yanwan at all costs, but little did he expect that he still blundered in the end.
Xu Yanwan finally began to find him disgusting.
Meanwhile, Yan wasn’t quite in her right mind ever since she regained consciousness. She fell into lethargic sleep for long hours every day, but she kept mumbling in her sleep, constantly telling Han Qing to run as she did not want something to happen to him.
Her condition did not improve even after Han Qing had taken her home for two days. After thinking it over, Han Muzi thought the matter was so serious that it couldn’t be allowed to drag on like this anymore. She wanted to advise her brother, persuading him to send Yan back to the hospital for treatment. However, she eventually bit her lip when she saw the dark circles under Han Qing’s eyes from looking after Yan.
Now that he had taken Yan out of the hospital, he would certainly refuse if she advised him to take her back to the hospital.
However, as Yan’s former close friend and current sister-in-law, Han Muzi could not stand to see her being in such a mentally deranged state.
Therefore, she met Han Qing and discussed the matter with him seriously. “We can’t let her go on like this; I’m afraid that she’ll suffer from mental illness if time goes on.”
Han Qing looked at her with a pair of weary-looking eyes as he asked helplessly, “Do you think that I’m not afraid of that?”
He was afraid. In fact, he was more afraid than anyone else. He had failed to keep Yan safe at the wedding; even though he rescued her out of the fire later, the state she was currently in troubled him so much that he was sleepless all the time. Because of that, he could only watch over her day and night.
Han Muzi also felt awful deep down inside when she saw Han Qing looking like this. After contemplating for a while, she suggested, “Qing, if you are unable to advise and coax her, I would advise you to take drastic measures.”
“Drastic measures?”
“Yeah.” Han Muzi nodded. “Qing, you have never been a mother, so you don’t know what it’s like to be one. Now that Yan is pregnant, her baby would be the most important thing to her besides you. If she keeps going on like this, she might lose her baby—who she had barely managed to keep. Try mentioning this to her and tell her to calm down.”
Upon hearing her words, Han Qing knitted his brows; he was clearly worried about the possible consequences following Han Muzi’s suggestion.
