He Lianjing had no idea how many times he had suppressed his feelings ever since that incident happened. His feelings had been bottled up for a long time until the seed of the devil finally sprouted in the depths of his heart.
Then, the sprout broke through the soil and shot up rapidly as though its growth had been accelerated.

The servants in the house were scared out of their wits after having witnessed everything; they held their breaths in fear.
He Lianjing’s mother was frightened too. Staring blankly at He Lianjing, she dared not even speak; it was as though she was afraid that her son would suddenly lunge at her and bite her.
He Lianjing walked up to her and tried to help her up, but she suddenly shrank back in fright. Then, she proceeded to back into a corner and looked at him as though he was a monster. “D-Don’t come near me,” she said.
He Lianjing hated it very much when his mother looked so weak; she never resisted nor hit back whenever she got beaten. Even so, he never failed to hit out at his father for her—He Lianjing did not want to see her constantly suffering from domestic violence. He hoped his mother would fight against his father even just a little bit, but she never did so.
Not only did she never resist, she even kneeled to plead with the man!
