“Xiao Su, did you hear me? Put me down this instant. You still have wounds on you, and they’ve reopened. You’re bleeding now.”
When Jiang Xiaobai was still angry with him, she thought that she would not flinch even if Xiao Su had fainted on the streets. Not only would she not feel heartbroken, but she would also just ignore him.
Now that she had seen the blood stains on his shirt, Xiaobai realized that she would still feel heartbroken in the end.
However, Xiao Su did not listen to her words and stubbornly walked with her in his arms. When Jiang Xiaobai struggled to get out of his arms, Xiao Su just held her tighter and made his wounds reopen faster.
This made Jiang Xiaobai anxious at once and she bit her bottom lip. “Are you putting me down or not?”
Xiao Su probably had heard the anger in her voice as he became concerned and stopped in his tracks. After taking a glance at Jiang Xiaobai, he said, “Since I’ve angered you, I deserve to suffer this too. You don’t need to pity me.”
Upon hearing his words, Jiang Xiaobai gave him a glare and then said arrogantly, “Who’s pitying you? You’re thinking too much about it. Since you weren’t injured because of me, it’ll be odd if I really pity you.”
After she had finished speaking, Jiang Xiaobai tried convincing him further by patting his arms with force. “Put me down quickly. Do you think that the blood on you smells great? Even if you can accept it, I feel uncomfortable in your arms!”
Ah, she seems to be loathing the smell of blood on me.
Xiao Su finally understood Jiang Xiaobai’s words. Although he had been unwilling to put her down no matter what Jiang Xiaobai had said, he immediately put her down after hearing her say that she loathed him.
After Jiang Xiaobai felt her feet on the ground, she cast a helpless glance at Xiao Su. What a dumb man he is—he really believes whatever people tell him. I think his IQ is below average! Jiang Xiaobai thought to herself.
However, it was fortunate that he was not really smart. Otherwise, Jiang Xiaobai would not have been able to convince him so easily.
“Let’s just hail a cab. We can go to the hospital and clean your wounds again before we head home.”
Although Xiao Su wanted to say no, Jiang Xiaobai had already walked to the roadside and tried hailing a cab. In the meantime, she also said disgustedly, “If your injuries still bleed at night, you should just stay at the hospital. Don’t you even think of coming into the room to sleep with me.”

Xiao Su probably thought that it was too troublesome; he then asked the doctor if he could take some medicine home and change the dressing by himself. Just when he had finished asking his question, Jiang Xiaobai patted his head as she walked over and said, “Doctor, we’ll come on time tomorrow to change the dressing.”
Then, she dragged Xiao Su along with her and nagged him on their way out, “Do you even know how to change your wound’s dressing? It’s definitely better for you to change it at the hospital. Look at your wounds—they’re already so serious, so please just behave.”
When they reached home, Jiang Xiaobai noticed that the lights had been turned on when she opened the door. Hence, she asked with mixed feelings while changing her shoes, “Did you come home earlier?”
“Mm-hmm.”
Xiao Su entered the house behind her and closed the door on his way in. Then, he bent down to take his slippers. “I came back and found out that you weren’t home. So, I went out to look for you.”
Hmph, at least he still has a conscience.
“Then, how did you know that I was at that pub?” Jiang Xiaobai turned her head and fixed her gaze on Xiao Su.
“My instincts told me that you were there.”
Since Jiang Xiaobai had met Xiao Su at the place a few times, Xiao Su felt that she would probably be there at the time. Hence, he simply went there to try his luck. Little did he know that he would actually find her there.
Screw your instincts! Why would I go to the pub we’d met in before if I didn’t worry that you wouldn’t be able to find me? Jiang Xiaobai complained in her heart while turning around to walk inside.
When she was inside the house, Jiang Xiaobai noticed that there were a few bags of food and an exquisite gift bag on the table. Startled, she turned around to look at Xiao Su.
“Did you buy them?”
“Mm-hmm.”
He had bought them all to ask for Jiang Xiaobai’s forgiveness, but he was unsure whether she would like them or not.
To be honest, girls would be pleased upon receiving presents, and it did not really matter to them whether these presents fit their preferences or not. Just like dragons who loved to collect sparkly things since birth, girls resembled them because they both liked presents from the bottom of their hearts.
Of course, there would be exceptions. Fortunately, Jiang Xiaobai was not one of them because she loved receiving and opening presents.
Moreover, the present was bought by Xiao Su as a token of apology to her. Without hesitation, she walked forward and picked up the present before shaking it in front of Xiao Su on purpose. “You bought this? Did you buy this for me, or are you actually keeping it for your beloved woman in the hospital?”
The last part of her question put Xiao Su in an awkward situation. Although he bought this gift for Jiang Xiaobai and it was also his fault for what had happened in the morning, he believed that he would still rush into the fire in an instant if everything happened again.
“Why aren’t you speaking? Is this for me? If it’s not, then I won’t open it.”
Upon speaking, Jiang Xiaobai put the box onto the table and squinted at Xiao Su with her hands folded. She looked as though she would not give up until Xiao Su gave her an explanation.
After Xiao Su looked at her for a while, he suddenly walked forward and said hoarsely, “Why do you keep asking about this? It’s obviously for you. Can’t you even see it?”
“It doesn’t matter whether I can see it or not. It gives me a different feeling when you say it out loud.” Jiang Xiaobai curled her lips into a smile and arched her brow. Then, she took the box out and opened it. Inside the box, she could see a fine pearl necklace. As every pearl in the necklace was small and had a bright luster, it looked expensive despite not being actual gems. The moment Jiang Xiaobai saw it, she loved it and could not stop playing with the necklace.
Xiao Su suddenly said, “Can I help you put it on?”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xiaobai squinted at him but still gave him the necklace after thinking for a while. “Sure. Just help me put it on.”
Xiao Su took the necklace and walked to her back. Meanwhile, Jiang Xiaobai brought her waist-length hair up. As her action filled Xiao Su’s nose with her unique, floral fragrance, Xiao Su stood there dumbfoundedly and stared at her fair neck which was now exposed.
“What are you doing? Don’t you want to help me put it on? Why are you just standing there and doing nothing?”
Xiao Su came to his senses and put the necklace on Jiang Xiaobai. Since Jiang Xiaobai had fair skin, the pearls suited her skin color perfectly; the grey strapless dress that she was wearing today even set off the necklace better.
After Jiang Xiaobai cast her eyes down to take a look, she snorted.
“Please don’t think that you’re forgiven after giving me a necklace. Who let you buy pearls for me? They don’t look nice at all!”
As Xiao Su saw her looking at the necklace for a long time, he thought that she had really liked it; little did he know that she would make such comments in the end. Hence, he believed her and asked, “Should I help you take it off instead?”
“How dare you!” Jiang Xiaobai yelled, “You’re so insensitive!”
