At night, Han Qing heard a sound from his phone after he finished showering. It was a text message.
He only had his bathrobe on when he picked up the phone on the table.
‘President Han, I’ve sent Yan’s itinerary within these two days to your email.’
Putting down the phone, Han Qing opened his laptop and clicked into his mailbox.
The first thing that came out was her itinerary on the previous day. Yan spent all day in the ramen restaurant and in between, she went to the convenient store, then she went home.
It seemed pretty normal. There was nothing unusual about it.

Han Qing squinted his eyes when he saw Xu Yanwan’s name.
At night, when he returned home from work, he noticed that Yan was in shock. Although she told him it was because she had a nightmare, it was impossible for Han Qing to believe it, as a nightmare shouldn’t be causing this much of a distress.
So it must be related to what had happened in the day. However, Han Qing did not ask any further questions as he didn’t want her to go through what made her afraid of again. In the end, he managed to distract her attention and made forget what had happened during the daytime.
But Han Qing was concerned, for maintaining his dear wife’s mental and physical well-being was a must.

Xu Yanwan had been pondering upon what had happened the previous day, and the words He Lianjing whispered to her still rang in her ears.
It was impossible for Yan to not notice what had happened in the restroom the previous day. Since it had already happened, anyone with a brain would know that the door was locked by someone intentionally, and she was the one who rushed in at the exact time.
Xu Yanwan shut her eyes and took a deep breath. In truth, she didn’t put much thought about it at the time. After imagining the scene He Lianjing had described to her, she rushed over immediately without thinking.
Since things had come to this point, what He Lianjing had said was indeed true; now that we had an unsuccessful attempt, Yan would definitely become more cautious. It would be harder for us to make the next attempt. But, do I really want her dead? She’s now pregnant, and the baby is innocent. She had suffered so much after she lost her parents, but still she tried to get herself together. If she loses her child, or if her parents were to lose her, it would be really heartbreaking for either party.
And Han Qing loves her so much. It was like what He Lianjing had said; if she were to get hurt just a tiny bit, it would cause Han Qing a massive heartache. Is this outcome really what I hope to see?
Just when Xu Yanwan was deep in her thoughts, there was a knock on her office door. Xu Yanwan came back to her senses, then she rubbed her face and sorted her thoughts before she replied calmly, “Come in.”
It was her new assistant.
“Miss Xu, President Han would like to see you.”
With that, Xu Yanwan was stunned as she wondered, Why would Han Qing come to look for me at this time? Unless it has something to do with Yan’s incident yesterday? What did Yan tell Han Qing? Did she tell Han Qing that I wanted to hurt her? If so, will Han Qing hate me?
Xu Yanwan panicked when she thought of it, and she got up instantly. “Where is he?”
“President Han is waiting for you in the reception room.”
Xu Yanwan rushed out of the room when she heard the words. She scurried her way to the reception room and stopped to adjust her breathing before entering. She clenched her fists while she entered the room.

But what can I do? It is a fact that I was the one who invited her out. Apart from myself, even I myself can’t think of anyone else who would do that. From Xu Yanwan’s point of view, he looked very good even from the back.
She didn’t speak as she continued to look at him quietly. Xu Yanwan didn’t have many opportunities to see him before, so she felt content to be able to just observe him from a distance. If she didn’t look at him for a while longer, he would be getting married soon.
She wondered if her gaze was overly-blazing, because Han Qing seemed to have noticed it and turned around.
Xu Yanwan smiled at the same time.
However, the expression on Han Qing’s face was cold, and the way he looked at her was frosty as well, without a hint of warmth. Compared to how he looked at Yan with adoration, Xu Yanwan felt as if she was brutally stabbed in the heart.
The assistant came in with a cup of coffee. Xu Yanwan took it and delivered it to Han Qing.
“It’s alright.”
Before she handed out the coffee, Han Qing, who was standing in front of her, said coldly, “I shall be leaving after a few words with you.”
As Xu Yanwan heard the words, she froze. She felt the heat from the cup that had warmed up her hands as she held it, and her face looked slightly pale. There was a buzzing in her ears and she almost couldn’t stand still.
Eventually, she forced a smile.
“Alright, what do you want to say?”
She placed the coffee on the table beside and stood up straight.
“What exactly are you planning to do?”
After hearing the words, Xu Yanwan felt the shivers. He knew. Judging from his cold attitude toward me, he must have thought I am a horrible woman.
When she thought of it, Xu Yanwan laughed silently to herself, but no emotions were shown on her face.
“What do you mean? Can you explain it clearly?”
“Xu Yanwan!” Han Qing stared at her and yelled out her full name. “The reason why I was willing to help you to rebuild Xu Family was entirely due to Mr. and Mrs. Xu. If you weren’t Mr. Xu’s daughter, I wouldn’t be standing here, talking to you today.”
She did not expect that he would be so direct. Xu Yanwan’s expression turned pale and she wobbled slightly.
“I can help you to rebuild Xu Family, but after that, you and I will have nothing to do with each other anymore. And in this period of time, I hope that you will not come to disturb my fiance again.”
Xu Yanwan felt resentful when she heard the words. She bit her lower lip and asked, “What did she tell you? Did she tell you I wanted to hurt her? Will you listen to my explanation? What happened yesterday was not even…”
But before she could finish her sentence, she was cut short by Han Qing.
“There’s no need to explain.”
Xu Yanwan looked at him in disbelief. “We’ve known each other for so long, and don’t you have trust in my character at all? So you have already decided that I would harm her? Is that how you think of me now?”
“What kind of person you are is not important.” Han Qing was quite blunt, or that could simply be his cold-hearted way of speaking.
