Yan was still shivering and felt freezingly cold even after she had reached home.
After turning on the heating, she slid under the covers.
Probably due to the shock just now, Yan still felt insecure although she had turned on the heating and was under covers now.
Should I tell Han Qing about today’s incident? What if I’ve made a wrong guess? By that time, I’ll be a person who frames innocent people up. Besides, Xu Yanwan was still catching her breath after opening the door for me. She looked really worried too. However, if she really wanted to hurt me, would I have been able to leave the café and reach home in one piece?
So, should I tell Han Qing about this or not?
Yan felt that her mind was in a mess now and she became more terrified the more she thought about it. Currently, her guess was that Xu Yanwan had really planned to hurt her, but she stopped herself in the end. She probably stopped due to conscience or fear that she would not be able to bear the consequences.
No matter which was the case, either of them indicated that she really had had plans to hurt her.
If Xu Yanwan had decided against opening the door for me, what would I have faced in the end?
Being too afraid to think about it, Yan just shut her eyes tightly and hid under the covers.
When Xu Yanwan came out, she did not look for Yan but He Lianjing instead.
With a faint smile on his face, He Lianjing was sitting there relaxedly with his legs crossed upon seeing her returning.
“What’s your motive behind this?!” Xu Yanwan questioned him the moment when she reached him.
He Lianjing arched his brow. “Didn’t I tell you previously? I want to help you with everything. Is there an issue?”
“Had you asked me before taking action today?” Xu Yanwan questioned him furiously. “Besides, I didn’t agree with your proposal that day. You’re just speaking nonsense now!”
Upon hearing this, He Lianjing stood up, walked closer to Xu Yanwan, and looked at her with a pair of narrowed eyes. “What is it? Are you getting cold feet now? Or are you just soft-hearted?”
Pursing her lips, Xu Yanwan did not say anything and just stood there.
Before she could react, He Lianjing reached out to hold her waist tightly, then he leaned closer to her.
“Is Young Lady Xu being scared that people would despise you once they learned about this? Or do you think that you’re so innocent and arrogant that you actually disdain to do such things?”
His words made Xu Yanwan look up immediately. “What do you mean?”
“Am I saying it wrongly?” He Lianjing smiled evilly. “You disdain using such means because you don’t wish to embarrass the Xu Family. But have you forgotten? I’ve told you that I’ll help you with everything to my best capabilities. Once these things are exposed, I’ll be the only one to blame, whereas you’ll have nothing to do with them. So, what’re you afraid of?”
While speaking, He Lianjing was even stroking Xu Yanwan’s hair on her forehead. Reflexively, Xu Yanwan avoided his touch and said with gritted teeth, “Don’t touch me.”
After she had finished speaking, she took a step back and kept a distance with He Lianjing.
“What you said just now indeed sounded nice, but the reality is that I can never escape once your schemes are exposed. Do you really think that nobody will suspect me even when you claim every responsibility? You’re so naïve. Since we know each other, every sensible person will know that I’m the reason behind your actions. As you’re doing all these things for me, what’s the point for you to claim every responsibility?”
“Oh?” He Lianjing arched his brow. “Can I interpret your words as you don’t wish for me to claim all responsibilities? Are you pitying me?”
Pitying him?
Xu Yanwan snorted. “You’re letting your imaginations run wild!”
How could she possibly have feelings toward such a playboy? He had no respect for women and changed his girlfriends as often as he changed his clothes. She would choose to be single for life instead of getting into a relationship with such a man.
“Then, Young Lady Xu, does that mean you don’t want to hurt others due to your kind heart?”
Xu Yanwan turned her head away. “I’m not a kind person. There’s no need for you to flatter me because I’ve lost everything. The reason why I don’t want to do this is because she’s pregnant with Han Qing’s child now. I believe that I’ve told you before that I don’t wish to hurt Han Qing.”
“So, you won’t hurt her as long as she’s pregnant? Do you mean that you’ll hurt her once she’s no longer pregnant?”
Xu Yanwan did not say anything.
Meanwhile, He Lianjing leaned closer to her. “Then, why didn’t you take action in the past?”
His words made Xu Yanwan forget to breathe.
“When she still trusted you in the past, you’ve had so many chances and you should have taken action by then. Once you’d managed to do it sneakily, no one would have ever suspected you,” He Lianjing said smilingly, as though he was talking about some simple matters instead of hurting somebody. Xu Yanwan was in utter disbelief at his words and she said after taking a deep breath, “You’re crazy. I’m tired of speaking with you.”
She turned around and left after that.
However, He Lianjing caught up to her in strides. While leaning close to her, he said, “They’re getting married real soon. If you only wish to act after she has given birth, you can only wait until after they get married. Once they’re married, do you think there’s still a point for you to take action?”
As his persuasive words were crushing her willpower, Xu Yanwan bit her bottom lip tightly and walked briskly away as though she had not heard his words.
At night, Han Qing discovered that the house was in total darkness when he was back.
Thinking that it was weird, he put the keys on the cabinet beside him and then switched on the lights.
Where has that girl gone?
Not only did she not send him a message throughout the day, but the house was also in darkness now. Is she still at the shop?
While thinking, Han Qing was walking upstairs.
As he thought that Yan might be still busy with work at the shop, he just took out his phone to call her.
The call was put through the moment Han Qing opened the room door. There was a phone ringing under the covers.
Then, somebody jumped from the bed as though having received a huge shock.
“Ah!”
Throughout the whole time, Yan was under the covers and even dozed off in the end. However, she was feeling muddle-headed now because she had made a lot of nightmares. For a moment, she dreamed that she had been locked in the restroom and was unable to get out. Later, she dreamed about Xu Yanwan walking toward her with a knife in her hand. Then, Xu Yanwan lifted the knife and cut her, making blood splashing everywhere.
Meanwhile, Xu Yanwan just stood there and looked at her coldly.
“Who let you snatch my man away from me? I’ll let you suffer before I end your life.”
“Ah! Ah!!!”
Yan was so frightened that she screamed in her dreams. Unfortunately, she found no strength to defend herself and felt like she was just a puppet in the dreams.
What happened next was bloody and savage. After she had been jolted awake, she was breathing heavily and her body was already drenched in cold sweat, including her face.
Most terrifyingly, the room was currently in total darkness, but the door was suddenly opened, and her phone rang simultaneously.
At that moment, there was only one thought in Yan’s mind. My dreams are happening in real life!
