While sitting there astonished, the image of the waitress spilling coffee on Yan and then bringing her away popped into Xu Yanwan’s mind. This made her hands tremble uncontrollably.
After a moment, Xu Yanwan suddenly stood up and was going to walk to the restroom.
However, she was blocked by He Lianjing with his arm when she was passing by him.
“What’re you doing?”
Although Xu Yanwan had no idea what she was going to do, she found herself not being unable to sit still as her limbs were not listening to her orders anymore.
“Think carefully. She’s your love rival and her happiness is built on your agony. Not only the man that you’ve been having a crush on for years is now getting married, but his fiancée is even a woman who’s incomparable to you. Are you really able to give them your blessings?”
Xu Yanwan looked at him while biting her bottom lip.
In response, He Lianjing curled his lips into a menacing smile. “Xu Yanwan, this is a rare opportunity. If you fail this time, it’ll be really difficult to ask her out in the future. You better think twice before you act.”
Later, He Lianjing told Xu Yanwan everything about his plans, including the details. His cruel scheme shocked Xu Yanwan so much that she felt her mind went blank, and then she just shook He Lianjing’s arm off to rush toward the restroom without regard to his earlier warnings. Looking at her desperate, panicky, and unsteady steps, she seemed as though she was really going to rescue Yan.
He Lianjing kept his gaze on her until she disappeared from his sight. Then, he drew back his gaze and walked across the table to sit at Xu Yanwan’s seat. After taking up her coffee which she had only drunk a little, he took a few sips while smiling.
Meanwhile, in the restroom…
After Yan had cleaned her clothes, she took off her coat to let the waitress air-dry it and then she went to the loo. Little did she know that she would be locked inside in the end.
Initially, Yan thought that the door was simply broken. However, the door still could not be opened after a few tries and it seemed to have been locked by someone from the outside.
Yan was startled the moment this idea flashed across her mind.
A bad feeling was rising in her heart.
Is it possible that someone wants to harm me? But what can that person do by locking me in a toilet?
Thinking about this, Yan was getting panicked and began fumbling for her phone. Unfortunately, she realized that she had left her bag at the sink because she thought that she would be out in a minute. It was out of her expectations that she would encounter such an incident.
What should I do now? Yan became anxious and could only try shouting for help.
“Is there anyone out there? I need help here. Help!”
After shouting for a few times, she found that the restroom was empty, and she could even hear the echoes of her own voice. As there was no other sound that could be heard, Yan was terrified, and she walked to the corner to lean against the wall.
Then, she raised her head to look at her surroundings.
There’s nothing covering the top. If I really can’t find anyone to help me, then I can probably go out by climbing the walls.
However, the walls were slippery and there was nothing for her to hold on. Moreover, even if she could climb up, how should she go down? Previously, she did not mind falling down and getting injured as long as she could get out.
The problem was that she was pregnant now. What if something bad happened once she fell down?
No way. Yan did not dare to try this way recklessly.
However, there seemed to be no other way than this, so she could only keep shouting for help.
When Xu Yanwan reached the restroom, she bumped into the waitress who was taking Yan’s coat. She blocked the waitress’ way and asked fiercely, “Where is she?”
The waitress was scared out of her wits by her expression. As she still could not come back to senses after a while, Xu Yanwan repeated her question fiercely, “I’m asking you, where is she?”
The waitress retreated a few steps out of fear. “S-She’s in the toilet.”
“What have you done to her?” Xu Yanwan felt like vomiting and did not dare to think further upon remembering He Lianjing’s previous words about his cruel and horrifying plan.
“I… I…” the waitress stuttered and was unable to speak further. Hence, Xu Yanwan couldn’t be bothered with her and just walked toward the toilet.
Just when she was reaching the cubicle, Xu Yanwan could hear Yan’s voice.
“Is there anyone outside? I seemed to be locked inside the toilet. Can anyone help me?”
Xu Yanwan stopped in her tracks. From her voice, she seems to be fine. What about those things that He Lianjing just told me?
However, there was no time for Xu Yanwan to think further. Hurriedly, she went to help Yan open the door. Actually, it was easy to open the door from the outside. However, as the person inside would be unable to reach the lock, they would not be able to get out without someone’s help from the outside.

The first thing that Yan saw after the door was being opened was Xu Yanwan’s anxious face.
“Are you okay?” Xu Yanwan sounded a bit breathless. Moreover, she kept looking up and down at Yan after asking about her condition, as though being scared that she would get hurt.
“I’m fine.” Yan stood properly and then looked at her confusedly. “Why are you here?”
Upon hearing her question, Xu Yanwan finally realized that she seemed to have exposed herself by coming over in such a hurry. Hence, she only said smilingly after a while, “I thought that you’d left out of anger after noticing that you didn’t return from the restroom after a long time. Hence, I come here to check whether you’re still around, but I heard you shouting for help the moment when I walked in. That was when I realized that you’d actually been locked inside.”
After listening to her explanation, Yan did not say anything but just walk out to check on the door. “It looks normal and fine. Then, why was it locked from the outside suddenly?”
Xu Yanwan took a deep breath and gave a far-fetched explanation. “Perhaps the waitress locked you in accidentally.”
Then, there was a long moment of silence in the restroom. Yan picked up her bag and looked at Xu Yanwan.
“Thank you. If you hadn’t come to look for me, I would have been locked here for a very long time.”
“That wouldn’t happen because I’d bumped into the waitress on my way here. As she was taking your coat to air-dry it, she would definitely help you once she’s back.”
“No matter what, thank you. It’s getting late and I still have a lot of things to settle in the shop, so I really need to leave now. But please come and have a meal whenever you like. It’s on me.”
It had been a long time since Xu Yanwan received an invitation. Hence, she only smiled after staring at Yan for a while. “Alright. That’s for sure.”

After walking out from the restroom, Yan did not go looking for the waitress to get her coat back. Instead, she walked toward the exit and only stopped when she was standing directly under the sunlight. She finally could feel some warmth now.
Her legs were trembling as she took out her phone to make a call. However, she was unable to unlock her phone with her fingerprint and could barely hold the phone steadily.
Previously in the restroom, she had actually thought over the incident while talking with Xu Yanwan with feigned calmness.
How could the toilet door be easily locked from the outside? How could the waitress be so careless? The only possibility was someone was trying to hurt her.
Yan closed her eyes upon thinking about the possible culprit. She had no plans to push the blame to anyone, but Xu Yanwan was the only suspect who she could think of now.
