“What?” Ye Moxuan’s eyes were as dark as night, and the chilliness in his eyes was so palpable. As he talked to her, the chillinnes intensified.
Shen Qi just stood there and held the quilt in her hands as she looked at him.
Her eyes, which were as calm as water, gradually turned cold. Shen Qi loosened her grip and put the quilt back after a while, then she said softly, “Nothing. Do whatever that makes you happy.” With that, she turned around and walked back to the floor that she was sleeping on.
However, she then got up and walked out after some thought.
Ye Moxuan was so mad that the veins on his forehead were pulsing.
When Shen Qi went to ask the maid for a quilt, the maid gave her an apologetic look. “Sorry, Young Lady Shen. It’s not that I don’t want to give you a quilt, but we washed all the quilts today, and they are still wet. We can’t provide you with one for the time being.”
Hearing that, Shen Qi frowned a little. “Not even one?”
The maid shook her head and looked pale.
“Really?” Shen Qi was incredulous and raised her eyebrows suspiciously.
“I’m sorry, Young Lady Shen.” The maid was so frightened that she bent down. “Young Master Ye ordered us to do so. Please don’t make it difficult for us.”
Shen Qi had expected it, so she shrugged and said, “Fine. In that case, I won’t blame you.”
Shen Qi then turned away and left, thereafter the maids began to whisper.
“What’s going on between Young Lady Shen and Young Master Ye? Weren’t they close a few days ago? Why are they sleeping apart today?”
“It’s normal for newlyweds. They will get better after a fight,” one of the elder maids said.
“Really? It seems really bad this time. Young Master Ye is not giving Young Lady Shen the quilt. Won’t she be cold when she sleeps at night?”
“Little girl, you really are ignorant. You are too young to know anything. Young Master Ye is clearly forcing Young Lady Shen to sleep with him. He has a quilt, doesn’t he?”
“Oh, I see. Wow, Young Master Ye is really cunning!”
However, Shen Qi didn’t hear all this. When she returned to the room, Ye Moxuan was looking at her with a cold gaze, and she was outraged. “Did you expect me to come back empty-handed?”
Ye Moxuan’s mouth remained closed and he did not speak.
“Ye Moxuan, forget about you taking this quilt back, but why won’t you let them give me a quilt?”
He glanced at her coldly and sneered as he looked away, ignoring her.
Shen Qi was outraged, but she couldn’t do anything about it.
Everyone in the Ye Family only listened to his orders and wouldn’t listen to her. Even if he wanted her dead, she wouldn’t be able to resist.
“Fine, forget it.” She could just roll up a corner of the quilt she was lying on for a night and buy a new one the next day after work.
Buying a new quilt wouldn’t take up much space anyway, and she could afford it; there was no need to beg him.
As time passed quickly, it was already early autumn. Hence, the night was cold.
Shen Qi slept on the quilt she had put on the floor and used the other half to cover herself. Besides that, she wore thick pajamas, so it was no different than sleeping on the bed. She didn’t feel cold at all.
The only thing was, she couldn’t stretch her body.
Shen Qi felt constrained at first, but she soon got used to it and didn’t feel that uncomfortable afterward. Soon, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
What Shen Qi didn’t know was that after she fell asleep, a tall figure came up to her and found that she was asleep, thereafter the man sneered. “What a stupid woman. She would rather sleep and curl up lying on the floor than to surrender to me for once.”

Although she had a good night’s sleep, Shen Qi still felt her body aching when she woke up the next morning. Her entire body felt stiff, and she could hardly stretch her limbs. She had been curled up the entire night and could only stretch her body a little when morning came.
Shen Qi immediately pulled her arms back when she saw a pair of dark eyes. She then went to the bathroom to wash up and get ready. Ye Moxuan had already left the room when she came back.
She then took out a small calendar from her bag and took a look at it. It had been nearly a month since she came to the Ye residence.
As time passed, the baby in her stomach was already two months old, and there was still five months left from the date they had agreed upon.
Just get over it, Shen Qi said to herself internally.
When Shen Qi arrived at work, she got the message that they would be meeting Han Group to discuss their contract, and the latter would be coming to their company in person.
Being one of the project leaders, Shen Qi had prepared a lot of materials since morning and hoped that it would be useful later on.
When she received the message that the clients had arrived downstairs, Shen Qi got up from the seat with the materials she had prepared. Just then, Ye Moxuan and Xiao Su walked out from the office as well. Shen Qi figured that she should wait for them since they were working together, so she did.
Unexpectedly, the two of them stopped before her, thereupon Xiao Su went over to her. “Assistant Shen, pass them over to me.”
Hearing his words, Shen Qi didn’t understand. “Pardon?”
“You’ve prepared the materials for this project, haven’t you?” Xiao Su asked awkwardly.
Shen Qi nodded. “Well, I’ve got it all ready. Here.” She handed the materials over and smiled. “I will explain to President Han later. There should be no problem with this cooperation.”
“There’s no need for that,” Xiao Su coughed and said softly. “You don’t have to attend this meeting.”
Shen Qi was dumbfounded when she heard his words and froze completely. “I don’t need to attend?” But why? I’ve spent a long time preparing everything, and didn’t Ye Moxuan hand this project to me? Why is he taking it back so suddenly?
Xiao Su kept his mouth shut and didn’t explain to Shen Qi. Instead, he looked at Ye Moxuan.
Shen Qi soon understood that it was Ye Moxuan’s idea. She took a step forward and asked, “Why? Why can’t I go to the conference room?”
Ye Moxuan raised his eyes lazily, and his dark pupils were filled with disdain. He sneered, “Who do you think you are? You want to get into the conference room? Why? You miss the old days of serving people?”
Shen Qi’s face blanched when he mentioned the incident when she served him tea. It was when she just arrived at the Ye residence and was forced to be Ye Moxuan’s assistant. Thereafter, he tried to humiliate her in many different ways and made him serve him tea in the conference room; he was trying to scare her off at that time.
“If you miss it, I don’t mind giving you another chance.”
Shen Qi clenched her fists. If she had any dignity, she wouldn’t have gone. However, she had worked hard on this project. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to attend the meeting? I’d rather go in and serve some tea. At least I’ll be able to hear what they are saying and can explain a few sentences by then.
Thinking so, Shen Qi looked into Ye Moxuan’s eyes stubbornly.
“Fine. Young Master Ye, please give me another chance to serve tea then.”
“Remember, you are just a mute when you are in the conference room. You are not allowed to speak,” Ye Moxuan sneered.
