“Do you and my brother fulfill this condition? Apart from growing up together when you were kids, did you have any sort of romantic relationship with each other?”
Xu Yanwan was speechless when she heard the words, probably because she did not expect Han Muzi to speak such harsh and blunt words. Actually, Han Muzi had only been waiting for the right time to say these words out. She just thought that the other party would have something to say regarding this matter, so she never spoke up. She just did not expect that Xu Yanwan would bring up her affairs as an example. She also brought up the memories that had left her broken-hearted back then.
Now that everything had been said, Han Muzi figured that she did not have to be too courteous anymore, so she pointed it out clearly. “Am I wrong to say so?” She smiled and said in a light tone, “You and Han Qing aren’t in any sort of relationship, and I’m guessing that he’s not even aware of the engagement. Otherwise, with his character, he would’ve broken off the engagement with the Xu family long ago if he doesn’t like you. He wouldn’t have let you continue believing that you’re his fiancée.”
Xu Yanwan was shocked, and even her lips had turned a little pale. “You…”
“Yanwan, you used to be the treasure of the Xu family, so I won’t be saying any other unpleasant words. Since I already told you this, you can probably figure it out yourself.”
Xu Yanwan remained sitting with an unpleasant look on her face as she bit her lower lip. Then, she suddenly smiled. “That’s right; what you’ve said is correct. I don’t have any sort of relationship with him. He doesn’t like me, and it’s only my wishful thinking. No matter how deeply in love I am, I won’t be able to get my feelings reciprocated.”
“The things that I’ve said to you before are still valid. If you’re willing, you can start a new life for yourself. No matter what kind of life it is, it’s definitely not worse than watching the man you love happily in love with someone else.” After talking, Han Muzi stood up while holding Little Sprout. “Let’s end this discussion here. You’re already well aware of many things in your heart, so I won’t say too much. Little Sprout needs to sleep, so I’ll bring her back first.” Han Muzi bade farewell before turning around to leave.
Xu Yanwan looked at Han Muzi with her fists clenched tightly and hanging by her side. She gritted her teeth and called out to her, “Muzi, wait a minute.”
Hearing this, Han Muzi stopped and looked back at her. “Is there anything else?”
“You…” From the look on her face, Xu Yanwan appeared to be a little embarrassed. She was clutching the corner of her clothes while looking as if she was struggling to speak. “Do you hate me?” After asking this, she felt that her question seemed hypocritical, so she quickly explained, “I didn’t do it intentionally. I was just agitated earlier and suddenly thought of your affairs, so I couldn’t help myself from bringing it up. I don’t have any ill intentions, and I definitely didn’t intend to attack you.”
Han Muzi was surprised to see that Xu Yanwan would lower her head like this and say such words to her. She gave a carefree smile before saying, “It’s okay; I didn’t take it to heart.” She really did not take Xu Yanwan’s words to heart. After all, the two were not very close to each other.
When Xu Yanwan met her gaze, she probably knew what she meant. Her gaze seemed a little sad and she did not speak anymore. Han Muzi left right after that. As Han Qing was not around, Han Muzi planned to go to Yan’s restaurant with Little Sprout. When she stepped out, she bumped into Su Jiu. “Hey, Muzi. Have you guys finished chatting?”
Seeing Su Jiu, Han Muzi smiled at her. “Secretary Su, aren’t you busy today?”
Su Jiu raised her eyebrows immediately before replying, “How is that possible? Not only am I busy, but I’m almost going mad as well.”
“What’s wrong?”
“President Han has turned away all work, so I’ve been extremely busy these past few days.”
Turned away all work? Han Muzi did not think this sounded like her brother. Recalling what Xu Yanwan had told her earlier, she had probably guessed something. “Could it be that my brother and Yan are having relationship problems?”
“You’re the smartest after all.” Su Jiu nodded and smiled. “I think that they must be having problems too, and it’s not a small one either. As for what the problem is, I’m not sure.” After speaking, she seemed to remember something and looked in the direction of the reception room. She lowered her voice and asked, “What did you two talk about just now? Xu Yanwan…”
Han Muzi looked at her amusedly. “What about this person? Why did you stop talking?”
“Cough. Everything is uncertain now, so I don’t dare to say.”
“Just say it. We’re quite close, so what’s there to be afraid of?”
Su Jiu was only pretending to be hesitant. Even if Han Muzi did not say that, she would still tell Han Muzi her thoughts. “Xu Yanwan was in the hospital for a short while previously. While I was taking care of her, Yan would bring food to the hospital every day. Afterward, they added each other on WeChat, but I later realized that there was something off about Xu Yanwan. I can’t be sure if she has any ill intentions, but I know for sure that she likes your brother.”
“Yeah.” Han Muzi admitted it. “It’s true that she likes my brother. It can’t be hidden.” Whenever she saw Han Qing, her eyes would be full of strong feelings for him that even someone from ten yards away could sense.
“But Yan doesn’t know about this and still gets along with her so well. She’s usually quite a clever person, so why is she getting confused at this critical moment? Maybe this is what they meant by ‘the spectators see better than the players’?”
What Han Muzi did not expect was that Yan and Xu Yanwan had become good friends and even added each other on WeChat. Then, is the couple’s problem this time around involving Xu Yanwan?
Thinking about this, Han Muzi’s eyes darkened a little. “What’s the situation now? Where has my brother gone to? Do you know?”
“I do.” Su Jiu nodded. “I helped him buy a train ticket and he ran off with Yan.”
Hearing this, Han Muzi frowned. “What do you mean?”
“I think it’s because Yan had lost her temper at him and didn’t want to entertain your brother anymore. Then, your brother bought a train ticket as well to follow her.”
Han Muzi was a little speechless after hearing this. What are they doing?
After finding out that Yan was not in the ramen restaurant, Han Muzi was in no hurry to leave and went directly to Han Qing’s office. She placed Little Sprout on the sofa and took out her phone to call Yan. Unexpectedly, the response she got was, “Hello, the number you have dialed is not in service.”
What the hell? Han Muzi hung up the phone and furrowed her eyebrows. What the hell are they up to?
However, with Han Qing by Yan’s side, she did not have to worry about Yan getting into danger. She just wanted to know what had happened to the two and whether it might be related to Xu Yanwan. After all, this matter was not a small one. Han Muzi regretted it a bit now.
She should have told Yan about it sooner, but when she started to get busy, she thought that Xu Yanwan was a pretty decent person, so she did not care much about it. Who knew… people change. In many cases, one would not be able to control their behavior completely and would involuntarily do things that they knew were wrong. Forget it. I shouldn’t worry so much. There’s no one here, so I should just quickly go back. If she went back late, Ye Moxuan would no longer let her out next time.
