Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1339

“Mmph!” Before Su Jiu had the chance to finish what she was saying, Yan had already covered her mouth with her hands.

Su Jiu looked at her and smiled. Yan’s face was as red as an apple. “Please, Secretary Jiu. Stop saying anything.”

Su Jiu nodded after she saw Yan’s pleading eyes, followed by Yan putting her hand down. However, as soon as she put her hand down, Su Jiu started to tease her again, “It seems like from what I’ve guessed, around eight or nine out of ten are correct.”

“Secretary Su!”

“Okay, fine, I will stop here, alright? Oh, Xu Yanwan will be discharged today, right?”

“Yeah.” Yan nodded. “She doesn’t want to stay there anymore. She wants to go back to the company and work.”

“She is working at our company. You know that, right?”

“I knew about it. Han Qing told me a lot about her.” As Yan was talking about that, she looked regretful. “It must be hard for her all by herself, but I have added her on WeChat. Hopefully, we can be best friends in the future.” Xu Yanwan was Han Qing’s childhood friend after all, and from how he described her, Yan could see that the Xu and Han Family had a strong bond, for he was nice to everyone in the Xu Family too. Therefore, Han Qing must be heartbroken to see Xu Yanwan turned out this way. Since Yan was his girlfriend and was busy with work, she thought she should help him take care of Xu Yanwan. That was the reason she frequented the hospital these days.

Become best friends? Su Jiu wanted to tell Yan how naive she was, but she didn’t. After that, Yan went and helped Xu Yanwan with packing. Actually, Xu Yanwan had nothing much to pack too, for she hardly had any stuff; there were only her clothes and toiletries. Nevertheless, when Yan was there to help, Xu Yanwan would stare at her blankly. Getting along for a few days, Xu Yanwan realized that her sense of guilt had deepened because this woman was not cautious of her at all. She was not aware of the danger of having another woman next to her boyfriend. Yet, she still treated her with sincerity.

Xu Yanwan felt the warmth, but she was defying it at the same time. Why do I feel this way? She looked at Yan’s back. At that point in time, they were the only ones in the ward, so she stood quietly for quite some time, then she spoke in a soft tone, “Thank you for the last few days of hard work.”

Yan was surprised that she spoke all of a sudden, therefore she smiled. “That was nothing. I thought the atmosphere was pretty good when we were here together.”

Really? Perhaps it’s because you don’t have any ulterior motives, so the atmosphere seemed pretty good to you. Xu Yanwan smiled thinly. “You came here to take care of me because of him, am I right?”

Yan froze as soon as Xu Yanwan finished her words. Then, she turned back and stared at Xu Yanwan blankly.

“Am I right?” Xu Yanwan asked once again, and it seemed like she was trying to confirm something.

Yan bit her lip, and she looked doubtful. After deep consideration, she decided to express her serious thoughts to Xu Yanwan. “Indeed, he was the main reason. After all, he knew you for a long time, and since he was busy with his work while I had free time on my hands, I decided to take care of you. But please don’t take this the wrong way, for I am not trying to take charge of anything. I just felt that it must be hard for you to endure everything alone. You are just like a friend that I would be in sync with, that’s all.”

“A friend that you would be in sync with?” Xu Yanwan mentioned those words, while her thin smile had become a warm smile. “I still want to thank you for taking care of me whole-heartedly. Han Qing and I are childhood friends, and our families do get along well. I am happy for him, seeing how smart and thoughtful his girlfriend is.” After Xu Yanwan finished talking, she walked toward Yan, who was still spacing out. “Are we done packing? I don’t have many things. Finally, I can leave the hospital. My last few days here were so boring. I want to go out and get some fresh air.” Then, she took the things that Yan held and walked toward the exit, seemingly relaxed, as if she was free from a burden.

However, Yan didn’t know why, but she could sense that Xu Yanwan was really depressed when she spoke to her. Her eyes looked sad as if she was going to cry. Later, when she looked at her again, the sadness was gone. Was that an illusion?

“Yan, let’s go.”

Yan only managed to pull herself back after she heard Xu Yanwan, who was already outside, calling her for the second time. “Coming.” Then, she let out a sigh and gently knocked her own head with her fist. Han Qing was right. She kept imagining things.

Even if Xu Yanwan let out a sad expression, it wouldn’t be weird. After all, she had just lost her family, and it was hard for her not to think of those incidents when she was alone. Xu Yanwan had been discharged, and Su Jiu went back to her working position.

Xu Yanwan was gone for a few days. During the day of her disappearance, Han Qing carried her out, with Yan followed by his side. Everyone in the company had witnessed everything. A group of people was already gossiping. The fact that Xu Yanwan and Yan did not turn up to work for a few days had caused a great stir in the company’s staff group chat.

‘What is actually going on? The three of them left together that day, and the official wife had also met the kept-woman. Besides, these few days, except for President Han, none of them came to the company. Can somebody tell me what is going on?’

‘Yeah, I really want to know! Somebody, please quench our thirst of curiosity!’

‘Where is the receptionist? Isn’t she always the one with the latest information? Ask her to come out quickly and answer our questions!’

The receptionist was looking at the phone with frustration. I am also dying to know the truth. But how can I find out anything when none of them came to the company? I don’t even know where they went that day, and I can’t skip my work just for the sake of looking for them, right?

‘Stop asking. I have no idea either. Miss Wenwen, I wanted to ask you, isn’t President Han’s fiancée your subordinate? Didn’t you call her and ask during the last few days?’

Jiang Wenwen had stayed quiet for a few days. That was because after she knew the real identity of Xu Yanwan, she thought she should be more careful about sending messages in the group chat. By doing that, she could prevent those people with evil motives to frame her with a screenshot of the conversation. Lately, she did contact Xu Yanwan, but the latter said she was at the hospital. After she asked her to rest well, she had never contacted her since. After all, Jiang Wenwen had already confirmed that Xu Yanwan and Han Qing knew each other.

Han Qing was the one who carried Xu Yanwan out that day. That was enough to prove her identity. Even so, Jiang Wenwen still didn’t understand. What was Xu Yanwan’s motive? Working was definitely not why Xu Yanwan entered the company, but she managed to arrange their meeting calmly. If Han Qing knew she was in the company, would things change in the future? The more Jiang Wenwen thought, the more she felt that there was nothing definite about this incident. So, she decided to stay out of the group chat.
