Since she had already thought of him as a brotherly figure, there would never be a situation whereby he would desire her.
“I’m not going to argue further as you’re only saying this now. Just wait until you fall for him. Then you’re going to have a slice of humble pie, and then I’ll have a good show to look forward to.”
“Fang Tangtang! Go to hell!”
“Hehe, make me! Anyway, let’s go to the bar tonight!”
“…Get lost!” Jiang Xiaobai shouted as she hung up the phone. She stared at it with much anger, and her arms crossed as she recalled the conversion.
There was no possible way I would fall for Xiao Su! Never in my wildest dreams!
She then placed her phone down and went into the kitchen to make lunch.
When Xiao Su came home from work at noon, the face that welcomed him was an angry, puffed-up Jiang Xiaobai. She even slammed the cutleries on the table and made a fuss.
With his brows scrunched up, Xiao Su asked who made her angry but Jiang Xiaobai merely rolled her eyes and responded by saying, “No, who could have made me mad?”
Xiao Su stayed silent for a few seconds then asked as he raised his brows,“Did something go wrong with your script?”
Since he had never seen this side of Jiang Xiaobai before, he thought that she got angry because of work. Though they sometimes might have some bickering, her temper had always been calm.
“Why would you assume it’s because of my work?” Jiang Xiaobai glared at him.
Xiao Su wanted to say he was just simply implying.
Jiang Xiaobai continued, “It’s definitely not related to work!”
“What was it then?”
“Can’t you just stop asking?”
Jiang Xiaobai suddenly felt irritated by Xiao Su. Plus, the thought of what Fang Tangtang had said made her even more annoyed. Her mind was stuck with the image of Xiao Su carrying her into the bedroom this morning.
Even until this moment, she wasn’t able to get the thought out of her head, which made her mind even restless. Jiang Xiaobai felt that Xiao Su was the main culprit for her stress.
Realizing the way she currently acted made her even more upset.
Xiao Su had no idea what had happened to Jiang Xiaobai. From what he remembered, they didn’t even converse this morning. When he carried her into the bedroom, she was still sleeping like a log.
So what was her reason for being so mad? There was no possible way that he could’ve disturbed her peaceful sleep.
But since she was not willing to tell him, then he was not going to ask further.
Jiang Xiaobai began searching for popular yet funny shows on her TV Show app after Xiao Su had left. She binged for a whole afternoon and started to feel better as Xiao Su slowly slipped away from her mind.
However, she still felt as if she should avoid Xiao Su by all means. So she texted him and informed him that she would not prepare his dinner as she had personal matters to attend to tonight. After informing him, she phoned Fang Tangtang.
“Finally remember me? Want to have fun with me tonight?” Fang Tangtang answered her call with much excitement.
“Let’s go!” Jiang Xiaobai responded casually. “The night is specially reserved for us! It’s too boring cooped up in the house all day. I need to relax once in a while.”
So like two peas in a pod, they went back to the same bar, and the reason they did so was because Fang Tangtang had a crush on the singer of this bar. Although it was not clear how long he’d stay, he would be performing here for at least a few months.
Hence Fang Tangtang became a regular here. As usual, Fang Tangtang squeezed past the crowd to see the man. On the other hand, Jiang Xiaobai went to the bar and got a drink for herself.
The bartender was still the same guy. He glanced at Jiang Xiaobai and quietly asked, “Hey, your boyfriend’s not here with you?”
“Who told you he was my boyfriend?” Jiang Xiaobai asked gruffly after listening to what he said.
The bartender blinked. “You’re sure he is not?”
When she came to this bar for the first time, she did say that Xiao Su was a stranger but later admitted that they were friends. In the end, she even took him away. It was no wonder the bartender misunderstood her relationship with Xiao Su.
Later that night, they even met again and sat together. That was probably again why the bartender thought they were a couple, because of the flirtatious and playful atmosphere between them.
Looking at his expression, Jiang Xiaobai realized that no matter how she explained, he would not believe her. So she gave up on explaining and asked the bartender for the same drink she got last time.
“Alright then,” the bartender replied.
Throughout the night, she silently sipped her drink alone.
Seeing her under the weather, The bartender came over to ask, “Did you have a fight with your boyfriend?”
Upon hearing his assumption, Jiang Xiaobai found it amusing. How could she fight if she did not even have a boyfriend?
Since she felt too lazy to explain she just nodded her head.
“You did fight? So you are trying to drink down all your sorrows then?”
“Yeah, you’re totally right.” She finished her drink in one breath and pompously said, “Give me another drink.”
“If you keep drinking like this, you’re gonna get drunk fast,” the bartender reminded her.
“Impossible. I didn’t even get drunk last time. Besides, you already know that I’m here to drown all my sorrows, so I can drink as much as I please.” Jiang Xiaobai squinted at him with her chin held high.
“Right.” The bartender could only do as the customer wished.
Jiang Xiaobai’s gaze started to wander after she had three drinks in a row. When Fang Tangtang came back to chat with her, Jiang Xiaobai’s words began to slur. No matter how hard Fang Tangtang tried, both of them could not get on the same page. In the end, Fang Tangtang was irritated and furiously scolded the bartender, “You gave her all these drinks?”
“Don’t blame me. I’m just doing as she orders. There is no reason for me to refuse doing business, right?” The bartender shrugged his shoulders innocently.
His words seemed reasonable, so Fang Tangtang moved her attention to Jiang Xiaobai and consoled her, “Are you feeling okay? How on earth can I focus my attention on my crush if you’re in such a state!”
“Tangtang… why are you here? What are you here for?” Jiang Xiaobai narrowed her eyes.
Fang Tangtang was speechless, and she started to get irritated. Gosh, she doesn’t even know why she’s here anymore.
“I’m here for the guy of my dreams. What else would I be here for then? Gosh, you’re as drunk as a skunk.”
“Was your friend dumped? Why not try calling her boyfriend? Ask him to come by,” The bartender walked over and mysteriously suggested.
Fang Tangtang wanted to refute back by saying that Jiang Xiaobai was single, but looking at her current drunk state, she decided to go with the bartender’s suggestion when she remembered what Jiang Xiaobai had told her in the morning.
Squinted her eyes toward the bartender, Fang Tangtang asked, “How did you know she got dumped? Did she tell you?”
The bartender nodded. As though a lightbulb had just lit up in her head, Fang Tangtang stopped talking to Jiang Xiaobai and merely coaxed her to sit on the barstool before taking her phone from her.
