“Xuzheng, please don’t say it anymore. The more you say it, the more embarrassed I’ll get.”
Yan really didn’t expect to meet Lin Xuzheng when she simply went into a pharmacy. Not only that, she was surprised that he would send the stuff she left in the store over to her, and he even tried to toy with her.
“Silly little girl. What’s the big deal with this? Isn’t this just a pregnancy test kit?”
Hearing him mentioning those three words, Yan felt uncomfortable all over. Does he know that he is a man? Why does he need to keep on mentioning that in front of a girl? Won’t he feel awkward? She really felt that she was going insane since she didn’t know how to stop him. However, this wasn’t what she worried the most. Instead, she was worried that Lin Xuzheng might tell Han Qing about it right in front of him. If Han Qing knows about this, he will definitely ask me.
She felt that no matter what, she must make her words clear with Lin Xuzheng. After a moment of thought, she sat down facing him. “Xuzheng, I’ll just take it as a good intention for you to send these over to me, but I hope that there won’t be a third person who knows what happened today. Do you know what I mean?”
“Why is that? Don’t you want to tell him such an important matter?”
“It’s not that I don’t want to tell him. Actually, you might not know this, but I didn’t buy those for myself. I bought it for a friend.” Yan was starting to lie to him. In fact, she felt that she could take care of the situation just by fooling around, but it was obvious that he didn’t believe her.
“Your friend? Can you tell me who is this friend of yours?”
“Ugh, Xuzheng, why are you asking me this? I bought it for my friend because she doesn’t want anyone else to know about it. If she wants others to know, she could have just bought it herself. Am I right, Xuzheng?”
Listening to her, Lin Xuzheng raised his brows. “You seem to be right, but why do I feel that something is wrong?”
“What’s wrong? There’s nothing wrong here. Xuzheng, you need to stop asking about it.”
Alright. He could see that she didn’t want to mention this anymore, so he changed his tone. “Then, do you know why this friend of yours doesn’t want others to know?”
Yan let out a sigh of relief. Does he believe me now? Otherwise, why would he ask me this? She had no reason to refuse such a question, so she answered, “Maybe it’s because she is uncertain. It could also be because she has something that she wants to keep a secret. I can understand her.” However, she was more concerned about whether he would tell Han Qing about this. If Lin Xuzheng couldn’t control himself or wasn’t able to understand the meaning in her words, then she was screwed. “I can understand her, so can you too?”
Lin Xuzheng smiled profoundly. “Who knows? Maybe I can?”
His answer had instead rendered her even more anxious. It’s either you can or you can’t. What does he mean by ‘maybe he can’? Why is he talking in riddles?
“Yan, it looks like you really care for this friend of yours. Don’t worry. Seeing how anxious you are now, I will help you to keep your friend’s secret,” he assured her.
“Really?” Yan let out a sigh of relief. I’ve finally dealt with Lin Xuzheng. I don’t think he’ll talk any nonsense from now on. After agreeing with him, Yan brought the bag downstairs. When Luo Huimei was coming up, Yan had already stuffed the items into her own bag. Then, she pretended as if nothing had happened before continuing her work.
As soon as Lin Xuzheng was about to leave after finishing his ramen, Yan went to send him off in person because she was still worried. She kept on reminding him and he couldn’t help but rub her head when he looked at her nervous face. “Alright, alright! How can I break my promise to you? Don’t worry. Even if it’s you and not your friend, I will still keep it a secret for you.”
She refuted with a flushed face and in a weak voice, “It’s not me.”
“Okay, I know it isn’t you. Go back now. You don’t need to be worried.”
“About that…”
“I won’t tell anyone.”
After more promises from Lin Xuzheng, Yan went back to the shop and he finally found the chance to leave. He didn’t hesitate when he got into his car and left the ramen shop immediately because he was afraid that she might chase after him again. Yan is really stubborn. Not only is she stubborn, she is so innocent. Does she think that I’m that easily fooled? Actually, everybody saw it clearly, but since Yan wanted to act stupid, he never bothered to expose her. However, the moment he thought of a certain someone, he felt rather intrigued, so he drove straight to Han Group.
Even though Lin Xuzheng rarely visited the Han Group, his dashing looks and wide reputation were enough for everyone to know him. They also knew of his relationship with President Han, which was why when he went in the place, the receptionist greeted him once and allowed him to take the elevator. However, he didn’t take the exclusive elevator up. Instead, he took the one that was normally used by the employees.
At the moment, he still thought about the matter, so a faint smile dangled on the corners of his lips. When the elevator opened, someone came out from inside. Lin Xuzheng inadvertently glanced at her and paused.
Xu Yanwan was exiting with documents in her hands. Then, she also unintentionally raised her head and she became face to face with the person outside. The both of them stared at each other for three seconds before she twitched her lips as if she was in shock. “Lin Xuzheng?”
Her voice brought him back to his senses. At first, he thought that he mistook her for someone else, but after hearing her voice, he knew that he was right. “Xu Yanwan? Is it really you?” Lin Xuzheng squinted his eyes as he gave the person in front of him a thorough look. He rarely saw her in such a formal, simple and natural outfit. Back then, she always wore a dress, making her look gentle and heart-warming.
Xu Yanwan smiled at him softly before getting out of the elevator. Just as the door was closing, Lin Xuzheng reached out to block the door with his hand and he entered the elevator afterward. “Why are you here? By the looks of your outfit, are you here to look for Han Qing? Are you working here now?” As he bombarded her with questions, he pressed the button for the floor where the president’s office was located.
Seeing him pressed that number, Xu Yanwan didn’t understand what she felt inside her. During her time working here, she really wanted to go up and see what he was doing whenever she took the elevator, but… she didn’t dare to. However, today…
“Yes, I work here now.”
“Oh?” Lin Xuzheng raised his brows while listening to her. “When has the Young Lady of the Xu Family fallen so low that she needs to work in the Han Group? Xu Yanwan, did you come here for Han Qing?”
Upon hearing his words, her expressions changed slightly. “Of course not.”
“Then, why did you show up here?”
