“Even so, do you still want to take me away?”
“Are you really sure someone will find out about your fake death? Maybe they’d think you died in a really bizarre way? I can fake it for you, you know.”
Jiang Xiaobai smiled confidently. “Trust me, nothing can hide from the sun. Sooner or later they’re going to find out. We can make a gamble if you dare.”
The man didn’t look too happy, though he was being more and more satisfied about Jiang Xiaobai, to the point that he admired her. In the end, he made a bit of struggle with himself before slowly letting her hand go. “You are one heck of a woman, missy. That I concur.” Jiang Xiaobai looked at him in displeasure, saying nothing. “Also, I want to say that I did fall for you for a bit there, but then I noticed that you’re really strong, so even if I managed to get you, I might be unable to keep you down. Oh, what unfortunate joke fate plays on us.”
Jiang Xiaobai’s lips twitched. “Piss off. Fate does not play a joke on us. Now that you have no plans, can we go back now?”
The man smiled. “You still want to go back? Aren’t you worried about meeting someone like me? Honestly, I want to live a quiet life, so I was shocked by your plan. My advice? Don’t come to places like these ever again, especially if you don’t have friends. They target girls who are alone. If you come across fugitives, they might kill you.”
Jiang Xiaobai arched her eyebrow when he said this, surprised that he would be this honest. It was a pity what he did made Jiang Xiaobai dislike him, so she went back, saying nothing. However, instead of going back to her seat, the man watched as she went to her ‘boyfriend.’
Xiao Su was downing his wine in quiet frustration. He leaned against the bar counter, holding his glass. The man looked decadently sexy under the light’s shine, for he was too nonchalant.
When a woman was about to hit it up with Xiao Su, Jiang Xiaobai had already come to his side and sat down. Xiao Su didn’t even look at her, nor did the look in his eyes change.
Jiang Xiaobai asked the bartender to make her another glass of wine. The bartender was the same one who served them the last time they came here, so he felt amused to see them sitting together, though he quickly went to work. After sipping her drink, Jiang Xiaobai said, “You’re cruel. Someone you know gets into danger right in front of you, and you didn’t even plan to help them.”
When he heard that familiar voice, Xiao Su frowned and looked beside him. Then he met Jiang Xiaobai’s gaze. “It’s you?” Xiao Su looked surprised to see her.
HUH? Jiang Xiaobai gritted her teeth angrily. I’ve been here for a while now, and you didn’t see me? Jiang Xiaobai didn’t simply point at anyone and called the person her boyfriend, for she wouldn’t just ask a stranger to do that. She had the guts to do it because she recognized Xiao Su. She thought he would help him, but she didn’t expect him to not know that she was here the whole time. What the heck?
She couldn’t calm herself down no matter what, so the woman looked at him angrily. “Am I that ordinary to you? Is that why you didn’t notice me even after I was here for a while?”
Xiao Su was perplexed about why she was angered, his look of confusion a jarring match to the scar on his face. Jiang Xiaobai did say it right, even though it was sarcastic. He didn’t notice she was there, so the man was surprised to hear her familiar voice. However, he quickly realized that this must be the same time as when she asked him to be her pretend boyfriend. The man pursed his lips, his confusion gone, replaced by his usual calmness. “Anything?”
What? What’s with that attitude? Jiang Xiaobai wanted to smack the back of his head, but then she thought she wasn’t in any position to. Even though they knew each other, and even though Jiang Xiaobai did give him her first kiss, they didn’t actually know each other, strictly speaking. Even if he did notice her and just watch as she was taken away, she had no right to blame him, let alone now that he didn’t notice her being there. Even though that was the truth, Jiang Xiaobai still felt dejected anyway. She bit her lip and laughed in forced arrogance. “Can’t I come to you if I have nothing to ask of you? I saw you drinking here all alone, so I came to be your drinking buddy for the night.” She then swayed the glass in her hand. “And you’re paying for me tonight.”
“But I didn’t promise you anything,” said Xiao Su.
Jiang Xiaobai turned on her shameless mode. “I gave you my first kiss, so you have to say yes.”
Um…
He couldn’t find any good retorts for that, so the man glared at her. Jiang Xiaobai noticed his ears were turning scarlet, but if she didn’t look closely, she wouldn’t have noticed it, for his expression was tense. “Hey, I didn’t know you would get embarrassed this easily. Look, your ears are turning red, and all I said was to ask you to treat me.”
Xiao Su wanted to deny it, but now that Jiang Xiaobai had pointed it out, he couldn’t do it anymore. Jiang Xiaobai was almost turning scarlet too, but her ears were covered by her long hair, so it was unnoticeable. Besides, she showed no emotion on her face, so the woman kept on teasing Xiao Su. “Hey, it couldn’t be your first kiss back then too, right?”
Well…
Jiang Xiaobai noticed his ears reddened even further, and she felt that Xiao Su looked cute this way. He’s a guy, and yet he gets embarrassed from being teased a bit. Oh, he’s so adorable. She suddenly felt like pranking him, so the woman tried to touch his ear, but before she could touch him, he held her hand. “What are you doing?”
Jiang Xiaobai was taken aback, but then she said, “Nothing. I thought you looked cute with your ears turning scarlet, so I wanted to touch them.”
The corner of Xiao Su’s right eye twitched, and he pursed his lips in displeasure. However, he had underestimated how shameless Jiang Xiaobai could be. The woman was still looking at his ears and insisted, “Just let me touch them. I’ve never touched a guy’s ears before.”
Damn it.
“You’re a guy, so it won’t harm you if you let me touch it, right?” Jiang Xiaobai approached him, her fragrance swirling around him. Xiao Su frowned, for her face and lips were only mere centimeters away from him.
The man suddenly let go of her and said angrily, “You wish.”
