Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1161

Han Qing was conscious of the young lady’s intention to protect him. In the past, he had not cared much for it, but now, it gave him a strange feeling that seemed to circle his heart.

“That’s enough; I haven’t even said anything. You don’t need to be in such a rush to explain. Did I mention anything about him having violent tendencies?”

Yan was dumbstruck. I’m sure my mom was thinking that; was I mistaken?

Luo Huimei looked toward Han Qing. “No matter how you put it, you helped Yan out this time around. If it wasn’t for your timely rescue, this situation would have gotten way out of hand, and we would not be able to handle it. Therefore, we are extremely grateful to you.” Then, she stood up and formally bowed toward Han Qing as a sign of gratitude. Upon seeing this, Mr. Zhou followed her example.

Faced with a scene he had never encountered before, Han Qing froze for a full five seconds before he reacted. “Uncle Zhou, Aunt Zhou, please don’t act like this. Even if I didn’t do so, someone else would have done the same.”

Luo Huimei glanced at the tall and handsome man in front of her, then glanced over at her daughter, who had retreated into herself like a tortoise hiding in its shell. Mulling over it for a while, she seemed to realize something, but his phone rang right at that moment.

“I’m sorry, I need to take this call.” Then, he took his phone and went out to the balcony.

Taking advantage of the interval during which he answered the call, she stared at her daughter. She thought that her daughter would still be fearful, or in shock, after what happened last night, but looking at Yan now, she showed no signs of such traumatic emotions. Instead, she seemed to be blossoming with radiance, her gaze trailing after him when he stepped out to take the call. Sigh… The old saying ‘it’s hard to keep a grown woman home’ is true; it is the truth of life.

She felt a wave of sadness and pride at the thought that her precious daughter was going to be married off soon. Leaning closer, she whispered to Yan, “Tell me, did something else happen last night?”

Yan jumped in shock; she was fine before last night’s events were mentioned, but the moment they were mentioned, she reacted strongly to it. However, thanks to the lesson she received after this morning’s incident, she did not jump up guiltily this time around. Rather, she pretended to be calm as she remained seated. “Nothing else happened.”

“Are you sure?” Luo Huimei narrowed her eyes as she stared at her.

Nervously blinking her eyes, Yan nodded her head vigorously. “Yes, nothing happened.”

However, when Luo Huimei leaned closer to stare at her intently, she lowered her head guiltily and didn’t dare to meet her eyes. How could Luo Huimei fail to notice these signs of guilt? Looking at the figure on the balcony, she asked in a low voice, “Is he the guy you mentioned to me previously?”

Yan was puzzled and extremely confused. Why is Mom asking me this now? Have her perception skills always been this good?

Looking at her daughter’s confused expression, Luo Huimei received her answer. I can’t believe that the guy my daughter is head over heels for is Little Bean’s uncle. Then, she suddenly seemed to think of something. “Don’t tell me, the reason you treat Little Bean so well is that you have your eye on his uncle?”

“Mom, don’t talk nonsense! Little Bean is Little Bean and Han Qing is Han Qing. They may be related, but it is not connected to the way I feel about them!” She had been Han Muzi’s best friend first, then she fell for Han Qing later. Besides, even if she couldn’t get together with Han Qing, she would not cut off her friendship with Han Muzi, nor would she treat Little Bean differently just because she was interested in his uncle. In the end, she simply got along well with Little Bean—they were on the same wavelength.

“That’s good. I guess my daughter isn’t the type to seek benefits from other people. Moreover, Little Bean is such a pure child, and he trusts you so much. What a well-behaved child.”

While she was talking, Han Qing returned after his phone call. Yan nervously stood up in response. “Was it from the company? My situation here has been settled, so… why don’t you go back to the company?”

Luo Huimei, smiling at the sight of her daughter’s behavior, stood up as well. “That’s right, President Han; we are indebted to you. If it is convenient for you, we would have liked to invite you for lunch. However, it seems like you have a lot of work waiting for you. If you can make some time for us, my husband and I would like to treat you to a meal at a later date as a sign of gratitude.”

A meal? Han Qing glanced at the nervous young lady. If he agreed to it, the young lady would surely be more anxious. Thus, he smiled faintly as he warmly replied, “I am thankful for your heartfelt intentions. However, something urgent came up at the company. Please allow me to bring you out for a meal at a later date.”

“How can we allow you to treat us? At that time, please let Yan’s father treat you to it. After all, we are expressing our gratitude to you.”

Afterward, Han Qing said nothing more. Luo Huimei gave Yan a little push. “Yan, please see President Han to the door.”

“Oh, okay.” Yan came back to her senses and walked him downstairs.

They went downstairs in silence. As Han Qing prepared to leave, he saw the young lady remaining silent out of the corner of his eyes. Since I kissed her last night, she looks like an ostrich burying her head in the sand; is she addicted to it? Still, there was a better timing to bring up this topic. It was best to let her rest for now. Thus, he lightly said, “Go on home.”

The cool male voice pulled her back to her senses, then she realized that they had arrived. She did not realize they would arrive so soon, and she nodded frantically. “Okay, then… please take care on the road.” After saying that, she hesitantly lifted her hand and waved at him. When she saw that there was no expression on his face, she withdrew her hand and turned around to leave.

Out of nowhere, something tightened around her arm and she stopped in her tracks, unable to take another step forward. Han Qing had grabbed her arm. Surprised, her heart began to clamor in her chest, yet she did not dare to make a sound. What does he want? Since the incident last night, they seemed to have a tacit agreement to keep mum about it. However, before they came, Su Jiu had deliberately brought up the topic. So, she was worried that he would say something about what happened last night. She was worried, but at the same time, she was filled with anticipation too.

“For the time being, don’t go outside alone. Call me if anything happens.” Unexpectedly, he did not mention anything about what happened last night. He merely gave her a piece of advice. This is out of concern for me, right? She nodded. “Okay…”

“Go on.” Then, he ruffled her hair, his voice becoming considerably gentler. “Don’t think too much.”

“Huh?” She raised her head and met his gaze. Don’t think too much? Don’t think too much about what? Is he referring to what happened last night? Is he asking me not to think too much into it and not make my assumptions?

As she watched him uncertainly, Han Qing moved closer to her, his breath blowing against her face. “I asked you not to let your imagination run wild, so why are you letting your imagination run wild right in front of me?

Yan did not respond, her face turning red instantly. He’s truly amazing; how did he know what I was thinking with a single glance? Am I being too obvious? Are all my thoughts written on my face?
