The thought of this upset Yan. I’ve already made it clear to him—how can he be so cunning?
‘Don’t play any tricks with me and send me the address now. Otherwise, I’m going to get angry, and trust me, you don’t want to see that.’
Reading this message, Little Bean could almost imagine Yan’s reaction right now and that almost made him chuckle. However, he had no choice as he really disliked this blind date of hers. Furthermore, he did not feel that it was wrong to get him to buy him a meal. He was merely testing the waters.
If Li Sihan could afford it, that would be great; if he could not, it would not be the end of the world. As long as he was willing to admit that he could not afford it.
‘Aunt Yan, please don’t worry. I’ll see what I can do.’
‘Address. Quickly.’
Little Bean replied with a winky face emoji before putting his phone away, and that was the end of their conversation. Yan was extremely irritated by his reply. She looked upset while standing at the entrance of the shop. At this point, Luo Huimei stepped outside to check on her as she had not gotten a cab after being out there for a while. “What’s going on?”
“Little Bean refuses to give me the address,” Yan explained helplessly.
“Why? Doesn’t this little brat worry about himself?”
“What’s there for him to worry about? Mom, we should be worried about my blind date. He’s about to be ripped off by Little Bean.”
“What are you talking about? Little Bean’s so adorable, and he’s still a kid. How could he do that to anyone?”
Yan was rendered speechless. Annoyed, she glanced at her mother, who had been thoroughly deceived by Little Bean. Little Bean must have been putting on a show in front of them and that was why both Mr. Zhou and Luo Huimei had no idea about the little devil’s true colors.
At this point, Yan decided to put the argument to an end. She remarked, “Let me send a message to Li Sihan.” Even though she had exchanged WeChat contact details with him, they still did not possess each other’s phone numbers.
In the beginning, calling Little Bean seemed to be a better option because she knew him better, and supposedly it would be easier for her to get the information she needed. However, she did not expect Little Bean to be so stubborn and difficult. Now, she had no choice but to approach Li Sihan. So, she sent him a message on WeChat.
After a while, she finally received a response. ‘Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of him.’
This response perplexed Yan. Why isn’t he willing to let me know their location? Has he been brainwashed by Little Bean? How could this little brat… Nevermind. There’s no way I can bring myself to hate Little Bean anyway. At this point, Yan was left with no other option but to catch a cab. When she got in the cab, she asked the driver, “Sir, do you know where the most expensive place is?”
“Most expensive?” The driver looked bemused yet deep in thought.
Seeing this, Yan quickly added, “A restaurant!”
An epiphany seemed to have bestowed on the driver. “Well, I’ve been working this job for a long time, so I do know a few places like that. Which one would you like to go to?”
Which one? Yan had no clue where Little Bean would take Li Sihan, but since Little Bean did not want her to be there, she was sure Li Sihan was about to get ripped off badly by him. The only thing she could do right now was to visit all the restaurants one by one.
At this moment, Yan followed up, “Could you bring me to one of them first so that I can go in to look for someone. If that person is not there, we’ll move on to the next one.”
The driver thought about it and nodded. “Sure.”
As the car began moving, Yan sent a message to Li Sihan. She had to make sure the message sounded tactful and respectful to avoid crushing his ego.
‘I’m truly sorry for Little Bean’s behavior. You guys have just met, so you don’t have the obligation to buy him any meals. How about this: I’ll pay on his behalf today, or you can let me have the address so I can head over right now.’
Putting it this way shouldn’t hurt his ego, Yan thought. However, after sending out the message, she did not get a reply. At this point, waiting was the only thing she could do.
On the other side, Little Bean had led Li Sihan to their destination. Whilst there, the sight of the majestic hotel astounded Li Sihan even though he told himself that there was no way a kid would come to a hotel for a meal. This hotel appeared to be a five-star hotel. How does Little Bean know about this place? It’s probably because this building is a landmark that’s close to our destination, so coming here would make it easier for us to get to our destination.
After convincing himself, Li Sihan proceeded to bring Little Bean out of the car. “Let’s go and grab something to eat.”
How is he still so generous when we’re at a place like this? Little Bean blinked and wondered if he was indeed going to treat him to an expensive meal. Hmph!
Shortly after that, the two arrived at the entrance of the hotel. Just as Little Bean was about to bring Li Sihan to walk through the entrance, Li Sihan became slightly startled. “Little Bean, are we at the wrong place?”
Hearing this, Little Bean turned around and looked at him with his bright and dazzling eyes. “Wrong place? No, sir.”
“But you…” Li Sihan began to look frightened as he figured that this little kid was indeed planning on eating at this five-star hotel. How much would this cost?
“Sir, are you going back on your word?”
As they were standing at the entrance, a lot of people were walking past them. Little Bean’s voice was not loud, but it was loud enough to make Li Sihan feel nervous and embarrassed. He then responded in a low voice, “I’m not; I just feel that this might not be the best place for kids. Why don’t I bring you somewhere that has really nice food for kids?”
Little Bean rolled his eyes and inquired, “Are you afraid that this place might be too expensive? Don’t worry. If you don’t wanna buy me a meal, I can ask Uncle Qing to come and pay.” Hmph! If you’re not as nice as Uncle Qing, please don’t even think of taking Aunt Yan away.
Although he said this, he was not sure if Uncle Qing would show up after reading the message. Little Bean felt disgruntled and decided that he would never talk to Uncle Qing again if he did not turn up.
Li Sihan did not know how to respond to that. However, Little Bean’s words about calling his uncle to come and pay for him did embarrass Li Sihan. Previously, before Little Bean could finish his sentence, he was pulled away by Yan, but Li Sihan heard him loud and clear. Yan must have a special relationship with his uncle. Now, this little kid is talking about asking his uncle to come and pay—does he despise me? Not wanting to lose his face, Li Sihan stated, “No need. I can afford it. You want to eat here, don’t you? Let’s go in then.”
“Oh, then thank you.”
After the two went in, Little Bean familiarly and easily found his way to a cubicle. Standing next to the server, Li Sihan felt slightly uneasy. Nevertheless, he still had to ask, “What’s the minimum spending here?”
The server responded politely, “Good day, sir. For cubicles, the minimum spending is 5,000.”
5,000?! Li Sihan looked terrified as that would mean he had to spend at least 5,000 today.
