The night breeze blew the loose hair in front of Yan’s forehead, but under her hair, her eyes were determined and her fair, clear little face was impassive. “I’ve said what I wanted to say. President Han, if there’s nothing else, please leave.”
The tall figure before her eyes stood in place without responding to her and just peered at her with his pair of dark eyes—he had no intention to leave. After waiting for a while and realizing that he still refused to leave, she directly turned around and returned to the restaurant without even casting a glance at him.
When Yan entered, Luo Huimei, who stood not far from them, looked satisfactorily at her daughter standing at the door while talking with the young man. Though the distance between them wasn’t particularly near, she saw the man’s face with clarity. He seemed to be an outstanding person and until now, his emotions were calm and not agitated at all. No wonder her daughter felt sad and heartbroken over him.
Upon seeing her daughter returning inside, Luo Huimei attempted to stop her but failed, leaving her with no choice but to follow her into the kitchen. “How did it go? Did you follow my advice to talk it out with him?”
“Yes, I told him everything,” Yan replied to her listlessly. She was initially energetic, but was like a puppet that lost its strings and lying at one side lifelessly, looking as if she was weary with the world after she met Han Qing.
“You’ve talked it out, so what happened instead? Why do you look lifeless? Did both of you not reach a consensus?”
“Mom, don’t be so nosy.” Yan turned her head to the other side and leaned on the table.
Luo Huimei immediately walked over to the side where Yan faced. “I’m just concerned about your love life. How is this considered nosy? I’m not asking about other people’s matters. From afar, I saw that he looked like an outstanding young man who even waited for you the whole day. If there’s anything that happened, don’t focus only on your own feelings.”
“I didn’t focus only on my own feelings. He waited for me due to some other matters. I have already made it clear to him and we won’t be in contact with each other again after this.” After Yan said this, she hid her face in her hands—as if all of her strength had been drained out of her.
Luo Huimei was at a loss for words. She did not know what to say next, seeing that her daughter had already made herself clear.
That figure was still in front of the ramen restaurant until the shop closed at night. Several employees got off work and gathered together as they left, quietly discussing among themselves.
“He is so handsome. I think he looks more handsome than the other man who previously came here to look for madam. He has waited for our madam for the whole day, hasn’t he? Why does madam ignore him?”
“I’m not sure. Perhaps our madam does not like him? Therefore, she’s ignoring him?
“Madam has high expectations for men. She doesn’t like him even though he’s such a fine man.”
“Our madam is like some secret temptress. As an owner of a ramen restaurant, she has so many men looking for her and they drive luxury cars. Does she have a special talent in seducing man?”
“Don’t talk nonsense. Madam Luo has told us about Mr. Lin, who came over previously. He’s the person who rented this shop to madam. He had a wife and he loves her deeply.”
“Pfft, how many men out there deeply love their partners? They all just talk for fun. Who knows whether they will be together in the future?”
“We should respect the deceased. Stop talking nonsense. Let’s go.”
With that, they left at once.
Meanwhile, just when Luo Huimei was about to leave after packing up, she unexpectedly saw Han Qing still standing there. Unable to hold herself back, she walked up to him and asked, “Sir, why don’t you head back first? You’ve been waiting for the whole day and you haven’t eaten anything yet.”
Upon seeing Luo Huimei’s age, Han Qing’s eyes gleamed. “Hello, Madam.”
“Hello, I’m Yan’s mother,” Luo Huimei introduced herself, adding, “Stop waiting for her. You should head home earlier instead of hurting your stomach.”
The corner of his lips twitched, revealing a small smile. “Madam, thank you for your concern, but I’ll wait for a little longer.”
She found herself unable to persuade him and he was really polite yet distant. On top of that, he never asked Luo Huimei, who was Yan’s mother, to pass the message on his behalf, which astounded her.
Luo Huimei eventually returned to the kitchen and tugged Yan’s collar. “Get up. How long are you going to lie down here? Are you even planning to go home?”
Yan who lay down on the table, wore an expression of grievance at being pulled up. “I’ve been exhausted these two days. Can’t I rest for a while?”
“Even if you want to rest, you shouldn’t rest here. Go home, take a bath, eat something, and you can sleep on your big bed.”
Yan kept quiet, having no choice but to rise to her full height and pack before leaving together with Luo Huimei. When they arrived at the door, Yan’s steps came to a halt before an unreadable expression appeared on her face. He… hasn’t left? She thought that after she had said those words, he would surely leave, based on his attitude. What she never expected was him to still be here.
Luo Huimei squinted her eyes at her daughter. “Are you going to head over there and talk to him for a while?”
“Mom, you did this on purpose, didn’t you? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” Yan frowned.
“If I had told you earlier, you wouldn’t have gone home today, would you?”
Yan was at a loss for words, unable to refuse this convincing reason. With a poker face, she approached Han Qing as if she never saw him standing there. Since she had already made up her mind, she needed to stand her ground. If her heart softened because he came here to wait for her for the entire day, then the pain she suffered earlier would’ve been in vain. She refused to continue degrading herself.
The main entrance of the ramen restaurant was wide. If she continued to walk the path that she took, she would pass by Han Qing. Therefore, she intended to exit by taking another route, but was stopped by Luo Huimei. “Since you don’t intend to talk to him, why are you afraid to walk past him?”
In the end, Yan was pulled by Luo Huimei so that the former walked past Han Qing. Then, as Yan passed by him, she heard her clear but cold voice. “I have something to tell you.”
He has something to tell me? What will it be? She curled her lips into a sneer inwardly, but did not reply to him as she increased her pace.
Han Qing slightly furrowed his brows and could not suppress the urge to step forward to block Yan before apologetically looking at Luo Huimei. “I’m sorry, Madam. Please give me a few minutes.”
Luo Huimei uttered, “Both of you are young people, so solve your own problem among yourselves. I’ll be waiting on the other side. Yan, talk it out properly.”
Yan muttered, “Mom…”
It was late and many stores on that street were closed. Their shadows were long and stretched under the street lights. After the entire day, Han Qing looked a little scruffy and not as exquisite as usual.
Seeing him in such a state, Yan felt slightly pleased inwardly. You should experience how I usually feel. That day, I had starved like this for the whole day. It would’ve been fine if I got what I wished for, but unfortunately, I didn’t, and on top of that, I had been terribly hurt. Upon having such thoughts, she coldly stated, “You have something to tell me? Too bad, I don’t have anything to talk about with you.”
