Yan did not have to finish her sentence because it was self-explanatory. The group never expected Yan to stand up for herself. In fact, her comebacks rendered them speechless. After a while, the tall woman stated in anger, “Don’t assume that you are President Han’s woman just because you are delivering food for him. You’d end up where you started when he gets bored of it.”
“I’m delivering him food because I owe him, not because I need his business. It’s my business whether or not he gets bored with the food. How is it any of your concern? I’m taking my leave now.” With that, Yan marched into the elevator without glancing backward.
The group gathered around in frustration once she left. The female receptionist asked tentatively, “Why don’t we adjourn?”
“What’s wrong with you? Didn’t you say that her looks are ordinary at best? How is she so quick-witted?”
The receptionist hesitated before answering, “I’ve never said that she looks ordinary. I merely said that I can’t recall what she looks like.”
“Doesn’t it mean that she looks ordinary if you can’t recall what she looks like?”
“No, I’m just bad at recognizing faces.” In all honesty, the receptionist lied. However, as long as she insisted that she was bad at recognizing faces, no one could blame her. Besides, she never shared her opinion previously.
“Forget it. We’ll let her get her way for these few days. She’s extremely arrogant. You guys better check out her shop and we’ll see where it is. Once President Han gets bored, we will pay the restaurant a visit.”

Yan had delivered ramen noodles to Han Qing as scheduled. Initially, she felt quite nervous today since she left in a hurry without saying goodbye. However, after what she experienced at the ground floor, Yan realized that she was no longer afraid. Most probably due to her anger, her face was flushed when she entered the office. Her eyes looked as if it burnt with fury.
Han Qing quickly realized that something was wrong with her. “What is it?” he asked as he stood up.
Yan was stunned to silence when she heard that, but she shook her head. “N-Nothing.”
“In that case, why is your face so red?”
Yan reached out to touch her cheeks and true enough, they felt warm. I’m always like this. I’m easily riled up when I get emotional. Hence, she rubbed her cheeks. “It might be a little warm today.”
Han Qing glanced out through the window and he noticed that the sun brightly shone. After that, he dropped the subject. “Do you like the dress?” He took the initiative and brought up what happened yesterday. She blushed again, but it wasn’t due to her being agitated. Instead, she nodded shyly. “I-I like it…” she stammered slightly due to her nervousness.
“You don’t have to deliver food to me tomorrow. The banquet is at night and I will get Su Jiu to pick you up in the afternoon.”
Yan nodded obediently. “S-Sure.” She stared at the tip of her shoes when she spoke, and she looked like a timid animal. In fact, her ears were pink now. “Well, I’m leaving now if there’s nothing else.”
“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.” Yan looked up to glance at him. Then, she waved at him before leaving the office with a jog.

Time flew by and it was soon time for Su Jiu to pick Yan up. Su Jiu waited for her at the ground floor of the latter’s building. After a while, Yan entered the car with a bag in hand. When Su Jiu noticed that Yan still wore her daily, casual clothes, she cocked a brow at her. “Why aren’t you in a dress?”
Yan cleared her throat in embarrassment while explaining, “There are too many neighbors. Everyone will ogle if I run out of my house in that dress.”
“Why are you afraid? What is there to be scared of if you look nice in it?” Yan wasn’t sure how to explain herself, so she did not comment further.
“Alright, I understand. You are still a young lady after all. It’s normal to feel shy. In that case, I’ll take you to get your makeup done and you can change into the dress there.”
“Secretary Su, thank you.”
Su Jiu continued to drive and she spoke to Yan suddenly while waiting at the traffic lights. “To be honest, President Han had never brought a woman throughout the years that he’s attended these banquets.”
“Huh?” Yan was stunned into silence while staring at Su Jiu. Why is she saying that all of a sudden…
“Well, apart from me, of course. However, in President Han’s point of view, I’m not considered a woman because I’m merely his subordinate and secretary.”
Yan was at a loss for words.
“President Han has a unique identity, so everyone knows who he is during these banquets. Many female celebrities would invite him to attend these events together. Nevertheless, he has always rejected them. Do you know why? That’s because once there’s a woman with him, many people would start speculating about the woman’s identity. Furthermore, this woman would only benefit from her identity as Han Qing’s female partner. Hence, President Han has never allowed such a thing to happen.”
Yan blinked several times. Everything that has happened recently is so odd. It started with Lin Xuzheng and now, it’s Su Jiu. They are both telling me strange things. I’ve tried interpreting what they mean, but I’m not courageous enough to make any assumptions. If my assumptions are right, what is the reason? The past is different from the present. I’m just afraid that it’s wrong and I’m also afraid that I’m overthinking while flattering myself. However, since I see hope, I should grab the chance. She smiled gradually when she thought of that. “Thank you for telling me all these. I now understand another aspect of him.” I wouldn’t have learned about such things if it weren’t for Su Jiu.
Su Jiu glanced at her in amusement. “I’m not telling you all these for you to know him better.”
Yan was dumbfounded.

“Conscious?”

Originally, Yan thought that Su Jiu would be unhappy with her and never expected the latter to be so generous. She truly is a kind and gracious woman. Yan returned a smile. “I will work hard!”
When they arrived at the venue for Yan’s makeup, she changed into her dress before the makeup. She walked out in the dress, only for the makeup artist to glance at her and ask, “Do you want some push-up?”
“Huh?” Yan asked in a daze. “What do you mean by push-up?”
Su Jiu flashed her a mischievous grin. “That’s to enhance your feminine side!”
She is staring at my… Yan snapped back to her senses while blushing furiously. Then, she hugged herself while stating in embarrassment, “N-No, I’m fine.” I am always thin and I’ve lost a lot of weight since I’ve not been in the best of mood recently. That is why certain body parts have become thinner. However, I’ve never paid much attention to these things. I didn’t expect someone else to point out my shortcomings after putting on the dress…
After sitting down for the makeup session, the makeup artist asked Yan again, “Cutie, are you sure you don’t want any push-up? Your figure will look even better with some assistance!”
