When Yan rode in the elevator, her calm heart now started to become uneasy. Before she came, she had already done a good amount of thinking and told herself not to be nervous. I’m here to deliver a takeaway anyway. I need to express my apologies and gratitude only—nothing else. I don’t need to be nervous. Just treat it as usual.
As she was about to exit the elevator, she inhaled a couple of deep breaths. When she exited, someone already waited for her outside and it was the face of a stranger. “Hello, are you Miss Zhou, as in Zhou Xiaoyan?”
Seeing the unfamiliar face of a girl in front of her, Yan was startled at first before she nodded.
“Secretary Su asked me to come and receive you. Please follow me.”
After hearing Su Jiu’s name, Yan, who had no idea on what the situation was, followed the girl blankly. I’m at Han Group anyway. Nothing bad will happen to me here. Under the guidance of the girl, Yan walked forward with the bag in her hands before being brought to a room.

After the girl was gone, Yan looked at her surroundings. It was a huge room with a couch, coffee table, and access to a water dispenser. There was even a wine cabinet with coffee and other drinks. This must be Han Qing’s guest room. The guest rooms that big companies have are really different from ours. I’m the one who designed the guest room in Muzi’s company, but it is nowhere as complete as this one.
Five short minutes later, footsteps were heard coming from outside. “Yan.”
The person who entered wore a professional office suit that complimented her pair of high heels, which made her look refined. Then, Yan stood up, smiling. “Secretary Su.”
“It’s really you. I wasn’t too sure on the phone just now.” Su Jiu also revealed her joy on her face. She was Han Qing’s secretary. Even though she never had one-to-one contact with Yan, she had worked alongside Han Qing and the latter always followed Han Muzi. This led to both Su Jiu and Yan becoming close with each other in the end.
“Yes.” Yan remembered how flustered she looked earlier and lowered her head awkwardly.
Su Jiu took a good look at Yan. Today, Yan wore an orange shirt with a pair of custom made jeans. With her ponytail at the back, she looked bright and refreshing to the eye. Yan’s face was already exceptionally tender, but Su Jiu felt that the former resembled more like a recent college graduate with that attire. Yan was pure, beautiful and innocent.
“Are you looking for President Han?”
After being asked so directly, Yan’s fair face reddened while she nodded embarrassingly. “I…”
“Sadly, he is now in a meeting.”
Listening to her, Yan immediately waved her hands and her voice began to fluster. “It’s fine. It’s fine. I can wait for him here. Shouldn’t you be busy too now that he is having a meeting?”
Su Jiu nodded resignedly. “Yes. I’m his secretary, so I need to follow up everything with him. I used an excuse to come out for a while. After I’m done entertaining you, I need to head in and continue with the meeting.”
As Su Jiu finished speaking, Yan felt embarrassed. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know I would bring so much trouble to you. You should return to the meeting quickly. Don’t delay anymore.”
Su Jiu gave her a profound look. “What trouble are you talking about? It’s only a few minutes. You don’t need to be so nervous. This is the VIP guest room, so there is a television and a computer. You can entertain yourself with them if you’re bored.”
“Alright. Thanks!”
After Su Jiu left, Yan was the only person in the guest room. According to her knowledge, big companies usually had meetings that lasted one or two hours at least—and even that would be considered a quick meeting. Longer meetings would be held for four or five hours and some lasted for the whole day. She had no idea on how long she needed to wait, but when she thought of the amount of money that she caused him to lose, she felt that it wouldn’t be much if she waited here for days.
The worst part was that she brought ramen for him. After being soaked for a long time in the soup, the noodles will be softened. By that time, he definitely can’t eat it and the taste would be bad. Upon thinking about it, Yan lay down on the couch in despair. At first, she still sat up, but simply lay down when she became bored. Then, she took out her phone to entertain herself, but soon lost interest in it. Therefore, she started to browse some websites to the point where her eyes started to become exhausted, but there still wasn’t anyone outside. When will the meeting end? She took a glimpse at the time and realized that an hour had passed.
It is likely that they won’t come out within the hour. Yan looked around before suddenly standing up to close the door of the guest room. After that, she removed her shoes and lay back on the couch. She removed her feathery jacket to cover herself after she slept for a while and lay down again before she closed her eyes.

At the conference room.
Most of the company’s employees gradually left the room after concluding the meeting. Han Qing also stood up and walked toward his office. Meanwhile, Su Ju was in the midst of gathering her stuff when she remembered something all of a sudden. When she lifted her head, he was nowhere to be seen, so she quickly chased after him with her documents in her arms. “President Han.”
After hearing Su Jiu’s voice, Han Qing slowed down. “What’s the problem?”
“President Han, Miss Zhou came to look for you.”
Miss Zhou? Zhou Xiaoyan? Han Qing frowned his brows. “She came? Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
His reaction caused Su Jiu to narrow her eyes at him curiously. Why do I feel… that there’s a bit of affection from his tone? Therefore, she couldn’t help but try to mess with him. “President Han, weren’t you having a meeting just now? As your secretary, how could I simply let other people interrupt such an important meeting?”
Han Qing was rendered speechless. Without uttering a word, he spread his slim legs and walked toward outside. Su Jiu caught up to him again. “President Han, where are you going now?”
Han Qing ignored her, but it was obvious that the direction he headed to wasn’t his office.
“President Han, are you going to look for Miss Zhou?” she asked again.
“Secretary Su.” Han Qing stopped in his steps and looked at her with displeasure. “Don’t you have work to do?”
“I do, but before I continue my work, I feel obligated to tell you that I’ve asked someone to bring Miss Zhou to the VIP guest room when you were in the meeting.”
Upon listening to her, Han Qing’s brows twitched as he stared at her coldly.
It was probably because Su Jiu had worked alongside him for a long time that she was confident. When she faced his cold stare, she felt nothing at all and smiled instead. “I’ve heard that Miss Zhou brought something for you to eat, but now that the meeting’s over, I don’t think you’d be able to eat it anymore.”
Han Qing still remained silent.
“That’s all. I’ll head back to work now.” Su Jiu turned around and left with her heels clacking. Soon after, she disappeared from Han Qing’s sight.
Han Qing stood rooted to the spot for a while. Why do I suddenly have the feeling that I should change my secretary? This secretary of mine has been following me for a long time, and now, she is not afraid of me anymore! Where has my deterrence gone? As he thought about it, he walked toward the VIP guest room.
